New, clean, large and spacious. The bunk beds were cool and a hit for our family of 4. Convenient washer and dryer feature in the bathroom made drying clothes quicker. 7-11 was across the street. Checkin was on a tablet but someone is there to assist you if you need help. One of our favorite hotels on our Kyushu vacation.

Only Breakfast sandwiches for adults were provided even though booking said it was included for all. There is only 4 parking stalls (1 handicap and 3 regular). Not sure how far in advance you have to reserve but when we arrived it was already taken. There are coin lots though all around the hotel so it’s not far and the price was reasonable. Noticed a lot of people checking in were unsure about the parking and created a traffic jam trying to figure out where to park when checking in. Also not really much restaurants near by.

We spent five nightst at Fav Kumamoto. Location was excellent, a calm residential neighborhood with plenty of parking spaces around and a Seven/Eleven convenience store. It only takes 10-15 minutes by foot to get to Kumamoto castle from the hotel. The room was spacious, modern, with a washing machine and a small kitchenette. Although during check-in the lady spoke excellent English and was very efficient the rest of the days the staff seemed kind of disoriented (forgot to clean the room, not enough towels one day, too many towels the other day, etc). They were eager to help but somehow did not reach that point.

Cleaning and staff performance

The reception is very friendly and fluent in English. The location is a bit away from the concentrated activities area. Also meaning that it is quiet at night. The space of the room is superb and provided the option to sleep on floor (tatami) with futon if the bed is doesn't suit the need. Very clean with washing machine in the room. The washing machine doesn't come with dryer, but the clothes can be hanged in the bathroom that they will dry up in around 2 hours.

More clothes hangers would be great since drying function is not available for the washing machine. As it is away from the central (more in the neighborhood), the convenience store and other services had been a distance away from the hotel.

Ample space for our family of four! Beds were firm and nice and clean (could see some marks on the clean sheets which were probably not possible to remove). Loved the washing machine in the room as well. The dryer is actually the bathtub room - there is a rod for you to hang your washing and then you set the heater to dry your clothes. There is no housekeeping service but you can put a magnet on your door by 10am to request trash removal and clean towels. We put the magnet late one morning (around 11am) and they still helped with this service. Fantastic for the price paid.

Checkin was quick and simple, the young chap at reception was friendly and can speak English. Room is spacious, clean and comfortable, as per advertised. Able to open up 2 luggage on floor and still have plenty of space to move around. Kitchen is fully equipped including scissors! There is a washing machine and drying rack in bathroom in room which is really convenient!

Only 6 hangers are provided to hang laundry which is insufficient. After we checked-out, we bought doughnuts from the hotel cafe and sat at lobby area to eat our doughnuts. However, the receptionist (the one who also attended to us for the doughnut) chase us out from the hotel lobby within 5 mins after that, which we found it rude and inappropriate.

It is like a self service apartment. Our room has a small kitchen area with microwave/oven, cookware and dinning ware provided. Wash machine is a bonus to us to get long worn cloths cleaned up during the trip. self check in and check out is easy. Location is good, continence store is across the road, there’re couple of good coffees close by. It is walkable to Kumamoto castle from the place.

Nothing I can fault for this place, the only unlucky thing to us is there’s a large number of active kids staying on the same floor, they’re super excited and didn’t want to sleep till late, but it’s understandable, we’ve all been through that age.

Size of the room, with bed on the platform and tatami floor for the futon (3rd person sleeps on futon). Room equipped with washing machine. Shower room is spacious and separated from toilet. There is 7-11 convenient store just acrosss the street, so is the parking. Breakfast is packed sandwitch bring back to room so don't expect a buffet style breakast you will find in other business hotel.

Something is wrong with the room door latch design. The door will hit the latch whenever you attempt to leave the door unclosed. I am seeing almost all room doors are dented by the latch and cosmetically not appealing. I also saw scratches and dents all over at the bed feature wall.

Good location between main centre of town and to the Kumamoto castle and also to the train station. We walked to both and also along the river on a pleasant day. We also took a street car and a taxi on some trips. A very tidy modern well designed room that was clean and comfortable for a family of four people.

The included breakfast was simply a toasted sandwich and a cold drink - nice enough.

Fav is the most value-for-money hotel I've stayed at on my recent trip to Japan. I was amazed to find amenities like a washing machine and a kitchenette with a microwave oven and cookware in my room - unimaginable in-room luxuries in space-scarce Japan. There was also a couch and coffee table and plenty of space for luggage. To top it off, the room was new and pleasant looking. I was initially hesitant to book this hotel because I thought I would need to do self check-in at an unmanned counter but my fears were unfounded. The counter is not unmanned - there was one staff member there helping you should you run into trouble with your self check-in. The room even showed world cup live on TV. There are plenty of paid parking lots right next to the hotel charging reasonable rates.

Very nice and spacious rooms - almost a luxury in Japan. In walking distance from the station as well as the castle, so perfect for a stay in Kumamoto.

While the room was generally clean, there were still some clearly visible chalk spots in the bathroom, spoiling the overall appearance. Oh and a wardrobe or some space to store our clothes would have been nice.
