The place was great. Very nice atmosphere, with large cozy living room in authentic homely japanese style. The room was perfect. Very comfy. There are many nice touches and details. The style is homogenous, harmonious and simple. Everything is well organised, pleasant and relaxing.
Unfortunately, we received a poor welcome. The host looked at me with stupor when I entered and enquired if he works here. His reply: "I think so." That sort of stroppy remark already rubbed me the wrong way. It comes off as mocking. Thereafter, he sort of checked us in two hours early but didn't offer to let us into our rooms, so we huddled outside for a while, until he changed his mind. I find this very odd and inhospitable. So I didn't feel welcome there. I have been a superhost on Airbnb myself and I would never treat my guests this way. For this reason, I wouldn't stay there again because he makes me feel unwelcome. Too bad because the place is impeccable otherwise.

Masa and Saki are fabulous hosts, very friendly, lots of advice about restaurants etc, and they were extremely helpful when our travel arrangements needed to be changed. The BnB feels like a home away from home; it was so nice to come back to after a day of sightseeing. Rooms are small (as per usual in Japan), but the beds are very comfortable. Showers are great. Everything is spotlessly clean. We rented bikes for a few days, a great way to get around in Kyoto. Highly recommend this BnB!

The Fujitaya BnB truly feels like a home away from home! And for a solo traveler like myself, offers the opportunity to meet and get to know other travelers too. 😊 The accommodations are simple but very comfortable and the shared showers/baths were immaculately clean. In fact, the entire place was immaculately clean. The hosts are also lovely and speak excellent English. I hope go back soon!
It’s a bit far from the main train station (for me), but one could easily get there using buses/trains with a decent understanding of the public transit system or a cab.

The staff were fantastic and gave us some good recommendations for meals, there were friendly and efficient, the accommodation was clean and well maintained. everything was great about this stay. location was good close to a bus stop and not too far from the main metro.
nothing really from check in to check out the stay was comfortable.

The place is wonderful! The rooms are nice and cosy, but the best part are the facilities. There are lots of showers and bathrooms for guests to use, so no one has to wait in line. The living room is spacious and a nice place to sit and talk with other travellers or the host family. Keep in mind, that the host family also lives in the building and spends time in the living room with other guests, this was a great plus for us, but might not be for everyone :)

Excellent host and location. The guesthouse gives a perfect definition of homestay and show us the genuine hospitality of Japanese hosts. We booked during new year period, and masa & saki did everything they can to make sure we feel at home: Everyone (and I mean everyone) at the guesthouse went for hatsumode on the new year's eve night; Saki make excellent mochi for the new year's celebration and even surprise us with an apple pie as our (belated) wedding gift. What a sweet couple. Should we choose to visit kyoto again, we may just book this place. the level of hospitality is impeccable.
We stayed here too short.

The host family, the Fujitas, was so warm and friendly to us, in particular to our son (11). Kyoto is a magical place and our stay at Fujitaya BnB was a perfect backdrop to the city, where the pace is a little slower and a little more 'old school' compared to a Tokyo or Osaka. The room was very spacious for a family of 3 and there was a very convenient Family Mart less than 30 feet away. A great location that was a short walk to the train station and very close to several bus stops, which is what we primarily used for transportation in Kyoto. We did not rent any bikes but the Fujitas were very knowledgeable and had several bikes available to rent. There's also an option to trial some running shoes (On Cloud, I believe). I'm more of an 'eater' than a 'runner', though! :) Some great options nonetheless.
A BnB is not for everyone. There are communal sinks, bathrooms and showers. Everything was super clean (as is the case around all of Japan) and we had no problems with the facilities. But it is not a full service hotel.

Small but comfy rooms with futons. I was able to sleep comfortably even though I'm quite tall (196cm/6'5"). The hosts were very friendly and helpful in showing us where we could go. Renting bikes was cheap and they were comfortable to ride for long hours. Biking around made it much easier to see the sites. Good communal vibe with formal events to meet other guests as well as spontaneous hang outs in the evenings in the common room. Overall a lovely stay and would come back if ever revisiting Kyoto

The futons were super comfortable!! Bathrooms and Shower room were very clean and nice to use! Host was very nice and upgrade our room for us for free. We also had to check in late after 9pm and notify him late notice but the host was very flexible and help us check in late after 9pm. It was slightly far from the attractions we wanted to visit but it wasn’t a big concern to us. Overall, This place is a gem in Kyoto and I would totally recommend to everyone who’s visiting!

This is perhaps the cutest, sweetest travel experience I've had ever. I arrived in the early evening to the lovely family who run this bnb having dinner. They spoke English very well and were very friendly. The two little boys are adorable and also very friendly, wanting to meet me and check out my luggage. They even wanted to guide me to my room and jump on my bed! My heart melted at these two little cuties and the family seemed so sweet and kind. In the morning I had coffee with another guest and before I knew it there were seven people sitting around the tables in the common area having a great conversation and getting to know each other. Super enjoyable for a lone traveler like myself. Most of all it's great to see a family owned and operated business. They bring a great authentic style to their place and they have a really unique and cool design to their bnb. The beds were very comfortable, and the room is designed for sleeping in, not lounging in, which is great for getting you out the door to enjoy Kyoto. They are well located; you can take a short bus ride from Kyoto station and you're not far from the bamboo forest. The bathrooms are very cool with toilets whose seats automatically go up when you enter. Very futuristic. The showers also feel amazing. Something about the shower head makes for a very pleasant shower experience. They also have convenient bike rentals and offer yoga classes!
I wish I could have stayed longer! Everything was great.
