Beautiful place to stay and the whole hotel felt extremely clean. The tatami mats on the floor were always clean and they even wipe down your luggage wheels when you first come in so they don't dirty the floors. We loved the free snacks they would provide: free yakult and daango, and soba noodles depending on the snack hours. The buffet breakfast is a must - they have unlimited salmon roe and a tuna mash as well as a variety of different items. The buffet breakfast was truly a highlight of our stay. Bonus: this hotel is extremely close to the subway so it was extremely easy for us to get back to Tokyo. There is also a 711 conveniently located right across the street.

Honestly one of the most beautiful hotels I have every stayed with a very traditional Japanese experience on our Honeymoon. The décor was fantastic and it really made you feel like you were in Japan as apposed to the more modern style hotels we stayed at in Osaka. You are expected to take your shoes off at reception and store in lockers to ensure mats are kept clean. The rooms were very spacious and had great facilities. They even provided us with Pajamas for the night. The staff were very friendly and spoke English. We accidently left a phone in our room and they posted it for us next day delivery to our other hotel in Osaka. While it was expensive I can defiantly say its worth it if your are only visiting Kyoto for a few days like we did. It was just around the corner from the tube station which was a huge plus - literally a 2 minute walk. During our stay there was a Potato festival between the hotel and the tube station which had so much fun things for my 4 year old to do. They had Pigs, bouncy castles, trampolines, bubbles, make your own slime etc. also lots of food stalls. We spent a few hours here and it was great. There is also a really beautiful park you can walk through.

There wasn't much in the area, very little shops or restaurants - We struggled to find places to eat with the kids. After handing in shoes it was a little annoying to have to queue at reception to get your room keys back.

Love the private bath, but the queue was pretty long. Had to wait up to 1 hour to take a bath. Location is good, it is 3 minutes walk from nearest station and 1 stop away from Kyoto station. Extremely friendly staff but sadly they can’t speak English. Love the drinks bar at Level 1 and free ramen at night! The breakfast selection is great as well!

While I enjoyed the private bath, the waiting time to can be ridiculously long. Another thing is that they don’t have laundry service or washing machine for guests use in the building. But the staff provided us a map of nearest coin laundry and we went for it.

It was a really special experience staying at this hotel, which is coverer by tatami mats. It had a really homely and welcoming feeling and overall was very comfortable. All the added extras, like the Ramen and free snacks were lovely! Also the Yukata and free pajamas. The private onsen baths were very comfortable as well. The breakfast buffet was delicious and very varied! Overall very clean and rooms very comfortable!

There wasn't much to report here really! The key system can be a bit clunky when heading out, but it does mean you don't risk losing them! Overall a great stay.

This was our first time in a Japanese traditional accommodation. It was out of this world fantastic. The kids loved all the shoes off, lockers and key exchange. Staff were wonderful and even helped when we needed a tiny optical screw driver for glasses. I can not recommend this experience enough. The hot springs were another fantastic cultural learning experience. We loved the three days we spent there and would have stayed longer. Markets nearby on Saturday, ramen shop across the street that was Michelin reviewed. The place is right next to a train stop wonderful gardens and walks. You won’t regret this splurge hotel.

This hotel was basically a whole wellness experience dream come to life! The staff were so nice and friendly, and the amenities were everything you could possibly need and more. The onsens were beautiful, immaculate and clean - and the hotel breakfast was definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The late night soba hit the spot and the snacks were endless (popsicles, yakult, drinks in the lobby machine). Also loved the super comfortable yukatas and pjs that the hotel provided. It’s easily walkable distance from a JR station (just one stop away from Kyoto station), and there are multiple bus stops within a 5-10 minute walk that can take you all over Kyoto. It’s across the street from a 7-11, and right next to one of the prettiest parks!

wish I stayed longer!

Everything about this hotel is relaxing. Impeccable hot spring baths, traditional Yukata to wear, complimentary sweets and soba noodles every night, the tea selection at the front lobby, the pillow bar to find your perfect pillow. I’ve been traveling in Asia for three months and a pillow can absolutely make someone’s hotel stay or break it. My husband and I loved the private Onsen areas. I’m used to going to Korean spas in the US but if you’re going with someone from the West who isn’t used to spas like that, the private Onsen is a great option. 10/10 could not recommend this place more. I also never leave reviews and when I do, it’s when I’m really impressed!

Amazing hotel in the Japanese traditional style, where you are supposed to walk bare foot all over the place. Lovely onsens, both private and public, are avaliable without reservation, you can wear traditional and cosy japanese-style bathrobes and try free of charge evening's soup and icecreams. The staff is always ready to help and polite. We felt a taste of Japan there, even if we were just to stay in the hotel and not to see the cultural heritage of Kyoto! Highly recommended place!

The hotel is beautifully decorated so guests really get an authentic Japanese experience. The private baths are very soothing! They can get busy but the wait time isn’t too bad. The hotel also provides little freebies like a morning drink, evening time noodles and tea. The matcha latte is the best! A huge plus is that the hotel is right next door to the train station. My husband and I loved our stay and we wish we could have has a longer stay.

The rooms are a bit small but I believe that’s the norm across Japan. The AC was a bit difficult to figure out as the remote is in Japanese.

The private onsen is my highlight! If you'd like to experience Japanese onsen but hesitant going full nude in a public onsen bath facility, this could be your alternative. After onsen, we can go to the lounge and have ice cream. They also offer free soba at night (from 9.30-11 pm). I love everything from the moment I walked in - we have to take off our shoes since the overall building is using tatami floor - it's like I was stepping in to different world. It's like going back to Japan in the pass. All the staff are wearing kimono, every corner of the bulding reflects Japan traditional culture. They have drink corner where we can try so many types of tea, and also other drinks. They have all kinds of amenities that we can take as much as we need. There are 5 different types of pillows that we can choose. They even have hair straightener that we can borrow! If you are bored, you can borrow any kinds of board game from Go to UNO. They also have yukata that we can wear for free in the hotel area during our stay. And I also love that they have normal bed instead of using futon. This is my best hotel experience so far.

Pillow corner runs out very quickly.
