1/ Next to JR train station, very convenient. 2/ Next to Kyoto Railway station (one of the biggest in Japan) just perfect for my kids. 3/Room is clean with new/modern interior, the best is pajamas in the room is so comfortable to wear. 4/ Complete facilities in hotel - coin laundry, ice cube machine, microwave, beverage vending machine, public bath and 24hr direct access to Family Mart 5/ Located in the park, very fresh morning to start the day, just do a brisk walk around the park If I can suggest to add coin exchanger near laundry place and provide water filter dispenser in the room, hence no need to provide bottle water. Also, increase the heat setting for the wash-dry machine that can ensure fully dry for less than 3kg load in 120 minutes.

1/ Not about the hotel, but taking train from station beside the botel can be very packed during busy hour as it is one station away from Kyoto Station (terminal station). 2/ Not many quick and easy foods surrounding the hotel, suggest if hotel reataurants can open for dinner (currently only breakfast and lunch)

Just next to the JR Umekoji-nishi station, or a short 15min walk from JR Kyoto Station. Roads are almost flat so walking with suitcases and prams are a breeze. The local train from JR Kyoto station (1 stop) is not as frequent (about 20min interval) so walking was the best for us. Hotel is just next to the Kyoto Railway Museum and Kyoto Aquarium so if you're planning to visit these spots, this hotel is great! Also recommended for small kids because they had games at the lobby for the little ones.

If the room was a little more spacious, but not a problem for us as we only had 1 medium luggage. For travellers with more than 1 big luggage, might be a little short on luggage space.

The location, very close to a JR station, one station away from Kyoto station. Room was quite big and very comfortable (the biggest we had in our trip in Japan). The Family Mart and Starbucks right next door were a great value added.

The onsen facilities were quite disappointing for the level of the hotel. It was small and had only a warm pool, no sauna. breakfast options were very limited and expensive, again quite disappointing for the level of the hotel.

I wish I had booked here for most of my stay in Japan rather than just on our last day. The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji was very conveniently located near the Train Museum, a park, and the aquarium (all places suitably fun for those traveling with little children). Room was spacious, bed big and comfortable, clean bathroom, and nice amenities. The public bath was a quiet and relaxing way to end the day and our stay in Japan. Staff were helpful, friendly, always present and professional. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet, nice mix of Western and Japanese style dishes. All of this for a great price. This was a great value for money stay. There were a lot of little touches that made the experience worthwhile, especially for a parent traveling with a little toddler; such as offering a child amenities bag, the shinkansen shaped plates for kids, and the train arcade machines downstairs, which provided a lot of extra fun for our boy who loves Japanese trains. Also, found that the hotel was not too far from a few restaurants that provided vegetarian food options.

While I am not vegetarian, my family is, so I wish there were just a little bit more vegetarian-friendly options in the breakfast buffet since I paid for a full price ticket but there were only about 3-4 small dishes my wife could eat. Other than that, our stay was perfect.

The second time I booked this hotel. First time was April 2024. Super close to the train station as well as convenient starbucks and 24/7 family mart on the facility. My friends and I are always loving the onsen and was surprised to find out it was tattoo friendly for one of my guests that shared the room. PJs were always comfy and the room was so clean.

I'd say distance to downtown if people want to walk, but the train is only one stop away from kyoto station which takes 8 minutes by train, 25 minutes walking.

We're so happy to stay in this hotel. The staff is helpful and mostly can speak english. The convenience store are attached with the hotel building. It's near to JR station and Bus stop and the Kyoto Railway Museum and Kyoto Aquarium is on walking distance. There is public bath which help us to steam off the tiredness after walking all day. And you can get in only with special card from FO (no outsider allowed). The key for men/women are different so they can't go in except what they got for. We can see hotel info on the TV (like when will our laundry is done or the situation in the public bath). There is ice machine and microwave on every floor.

Our room is a little bit crampy but we still managed. There is 6 laundry machine and all of it is dirty.

The location is superb, less than 5mins walk with children from the Umekoji station. The rooms were decent size - would have appreciated it if it was abit larger. Majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. There is an outdoor playground and cafe right next to the hotel. Quiet but nice location just one stop away from the super crowded Kyoto station. The hotel itself is also quite clean and decent for the price I paid.

The communal bath is very crowded and not very well stocked. 3 of us had to share one shower area as we waited very long to use the shower area after a dip in the bath. There were guests who brought their children of the opposite sex into the bath areas making it abit uncomfortable for other guests.

If you are traveling with children, this could be one of the best place to stay in Kyoto. It’s just one station away from the Kyoto Main Station on the JR Line. Next to the hotel there’s an aquarium, a railway museum and a park. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Popular destinations like Arashimaya and Fushi Inari are just a few train stations away. Hotel interior is simplistic yet classy. Public bath area is super clean with area where you can blow dry hair and do make up. Breakfast is of good quality and serving some seasonal dishes. There are family mart and Starbucks attached to the building. You may check your laundry status through the tv in the room. Microwave oven and ice maker are available on each floor. Highly recommended!

The property is in a great location one stop away from Kyoto station. Only the local train stops there so you need to be careful which train you get on from Kyoto station and you should look up the train schedule back to the station to avoid waiting on the platform a long time. It’s located in a park beside a Starbucks and the aquarium and train museum which is great for families. We spent a rainy day there. A three minute walk away is Okamoto Kimono rental. My son wanted to wear one to see some of his favorite historical spots. We were able to return the kimono to the front desk at the hotel which was perfect for us as we didn’t have to worry about the time (return to the store must be done by 6pm) the hotel is very modern Japanese style. You can only access floors with room keys which made it feel really safe.

The restaurant isn’t open for dinner. Luckily there is a restaurant that services Kyoto vegetable dishes a short walk away. Because it’s so close to the station and many different trains pass by I found it a bit loud at times.

I enjoyed the size of the room for 3 adults - spacious with high ceilings compared to our stay in Tokyo, and the amenities offered in our bathroom including bath salt that I needed for my swollen feet! A great plus is that the hotel is by the JR train station, a convenience store, and Starbucks making it an easy arrival and departure from Kyoto with all our luggage. You can definitely tell it's a 4 star hotel with everything offered, we loved it!

I would have liked an ice bucket in our room, but I discovered cups next to the ice machine instead. Otherwise, great room!
