Very beautiful hostel concept with nice furniture and architectural intentions. it was in a cute neighborhood and good location! the cafe was also very nice.

I didn’t know or realize there was no actual window that can open properly until I arrived in the room. Additionally, there was a small incident where a man staying at the hostel opened the women’s bathroom door to complain about the noise. Women’s spaces have to be more protected and we should feel safe. We were not fully dressed when he opened the door.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was exactly as per the photos posted. The hostel was very clean and amenities like common mini fridges, washer, dryer, hair dryer, rental towels etc were readily available at the common areas of the level i stayed at. Shower facilities were very clean and water pressure was amazing. The hostel itself also has a cafe at the 1st storey and i was able to purchase some cookies and financiers for snacks. Within 5-8min walking distance to Lawson and 7-11 as well as Jingu-marumatachi station.

This may not be the hostel's fault but the sound and heat insulation of the building is not quite adequate. Any random loud or high pitched sound is easily transmissible between rooms. The rooms get extremely cold at night in November and you can feel the temperature of the building dipping with the external temperature. But that being said, the blankets provided were incredibly good at keeping me warm so kudos to the hostel for that. It's further away from central Kyoto so be prepared to take an approx 30min bus ride from Kyoto Station. At night, the road facing the Kyoto Uni hospital is very dark and quiet (almost no one and no cars) and although it is Japan, it can still feel slightly creepy walking back to the hostel alone at night as a solo female traveller.

Toilets and showers were very clean. Room waa clean but no window. Staffs were friendly and helpful. I sent the luggage to the accommodation before I arrived, and they helped me put it in my room. They are fast in replying emails. The first night the central heating system was extremely hot. It was something out of their control but they requested the temperature adjustment on our behalf and the following night, we slept really well.

We had to pay for towels. The walls are really thin and when you have some really inconsiderate people who wakes up at 3am and talks really loud and bang on walls for 2 nights, it's really frustrating.

The hostel is beautifully decorated and very very clean. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful, they made me feel very welcome and well taken care of. I also felt very safe as a solo female traveller. The hostel is located in a nice and relaxed residential area, very close to the river. You can reach anything you’d want to see in a reasonable amount of time

Unfortunately I couldn’t open the window in my private room. The room had air-condition but a breath of fresh air was missing after a few days. The hostel didn’t feel very social but that could have well only been during my time there

This hostel will remain one of the best hostels I've stayed for a long time. Hostel Niniroom feels very cozy and comfy, with warm and kind staff to match. Amenities were clean and well-stocked. They were very accommodating when I had to reschedule my check-in to after-hours and I was able to settle right in very quickly. The guides they provide for the surrounding area provide a good sampling of the surrounding neighbourhood. You could spend a leisurely day or two just exploring what the neighbourhood has to offer. It may be a little out of the way for some travellers if they want to see explore all of Kyoto. But the bus stops and train stations within walking distance have convenient routes to many famous locations, like kiyomizudera and the Gion district. Overall, best Kyoto experience, will definitely come back when I get the chance.

Very friendly staff. Nicely renovated in an "industrial" look, with concrete but also many wooden elements (doors etc). Shared bathroom very clean and never full. The bed on a mezzanine reachable by ladder was for me a nice a surprise, with an excellent mattress.

Since it is an old (but beautifully renovated) building, it is very sound transparent. Ear plugs are provided, but very sound-sensitive guests might have problems. A more prominent advance warning about the bed only reachable by ladder might be helpful for elderly guests. Only a western-style breakfast (700 Yen) available - would have preferred a Japanese breakfast option.

It was extremely clean, literally spotless! The lounge area was cozy if you just wanted to chill somewhere other than your room and they even had desks in case people need to get work done. The location is great, if you walk about 15 mins you’re already in the fun/central area of Kyoto and it’s incredibly well connected with public transport if you want to go visit famous landmarks in Kyoto.

The dorms were quite small, there was barely any room for me to even open my suitcase to get clothes out. There is not much fun social life in this hostel.

Loved my stay, the bathrooms are spacious and clean, the rental bikes are of decent quality! All staff members were super friendly and helpful, giving recommendations and assisting me with luggage forwarding. Will definitely come again!

My only recommendation would be to remove the lock from the dorm, as it makes quite a bit of noise in the night.

Amazing place! Honestly can't believe it isn't rated even higher on here. Everything is well thought out, the design is beautiful and the staff is very kind and caring. Definitely one of the best Hostels I have ever been to. Also it is worth mentioning, that the area is very pleasant to explore. Would highly recommend for your stay in Kyoto!

Best staff in Japan - great kids, very friendly, all speak good english, always with a smile, happy to help. great building, lots of small cute details, great kitchen. everything was well though. thank you for having a good equipped kitchen (even a scale!)

the room should have something to store luggage. just buy something so that the bag can fit somewhere above the floor for more confort.
