The location was great - it was convenient to trains and busses and within walking distance of the main museum area. The staff was pleasant and helpful, especially when helping us send our luggage to Haneda airport. The service area with two coin washer / dryer machines, a microwave, chilled filtered water, and ice was very nice. The rooms are very large and could easily work for a family of 3-4.

There were some minor issues, but nothing serious. There weren't many electrical outlets for the size of the room. The windows cannot be opened and were frosted, which was a bit odd; our first floor rooms were very dark but honestly we probably slept better because of the lack of light. The Booking.com listing made it sound like our rooms would have 2 twin beds + futons, but actually the futons are kept locked up unless there are more than two people staying in the room.

The amazing feeling of being in a truly Japanese style house. Everything is super clean and the home is well located, being in a 15m walk distance from the center, the area is calm and you can easily sleep with an open window. The bathroom is very good. The sliding doors provide a nice atmosphere to the place.

You will easily hear your neighbors walking and the staff will leave a message note from neighbor complaints below, which is strange given the isolation is bad for everyone. They should be able to understand that. If you’re above 1.85, you will hit your head on the top of the sliding door. Not once.

Great value for our money. The staff were very friendly, even though there were some language barriers. The facilities included a washing machine, which was very easy to use. The location was very nice, within short walking distance of Kiyamachi. The room was spacious for two people and the shower and toilet were very clean.

The only thing which made me and my friend laugh was that we had requested a refill of the Nespresso pods since there were only two in the room when we arrived, but once the cleaning staff had cleaned the room, the refilled pods had been taken away. After we requested more from the reception desk, the staff who did not speak English very well made us understand that there was a limit to the pods we could request? Not a deal breaker, definitely, but just a bit odd.

The facility was well maintained. Convenient location too.

The service lacks temperature, and everything is measured by money. We informed the hotel in advance that we have a kid who will sleep with us in the room. But at check-in was told that because the kid is above 6 years old, additional 20,000 yen per night will need to be paid. On the last day, we checked out at 10:45, and was again charged 2,000 yen for the 45min delay. Even more amazing is that we saw the hotel staff debating with other guest on how many coffee capsules they have consumed and asked the guest to pay 150 yen per capsule… I guess rules are rules. But it would have made guests much more comfortable if some small flexibility can be extended.

Hotel is located two blocks north of the Gion District. it's away from the hustle and bustle of Gion and Pontocho in a quiet neighbourhood. Check in was fast, rooms clean and big. Hotel also has washing machines and dryers on premises. The famous temple Heian Jinyu is an 8 min walk away, as is the Kyoto City Zoo. 18 min away is the Nanzen Ji Temple. These places are less crowded and yet very beautiful.

Not much to dislike. Toilets may be a bit small, but this is the case with most Japanese hotels.

There is no breakfast available but there is a 7/11 nearby, as well as a Lawson. There is a vending machine for drinks in the lobby. It's not difficult to find food nearby, and there is a McDonald's down the street if Japanese on the first night is nervous-making.

I actually think everything was fine. It would have been nice to have a view from the window but I think my window faced another house anyway. The hotel was super clean and nice. The only downside was that my flight got changed and to stay an extra day the price jumped quite a bit, but I guess that might be due to the season?

There was a manga library. Room was spacious. A lot of power outlets, beds were comfortable. Room was beautiful desing was better than in other hotels we went on our journey.

Noise from the outside usually was heard inside, it was much further away from any metro station than I imagine it to be. There also is a rule that they need to clean your room once in a while so, despite we didn't want any disturbance they cleaned the room from 11:00 to 17:00.

Room is very spacious and clean. Bottled water were provided every day. Hotel is very quaint and quiet. Washing machine is within reach and hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Staff even helped to book taxi and restaurant upon request. If you crave for nice coffee and breakfast, there is a Starbucks with a bookstore in it, just 7mins away, located at Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya bookstore. The Art & Craft Museum is also nearby. It's a nice neighborhood area to explore during daytime.

Hotel is a little far from Gion district and Pontocho though public transport is easily accessible and near to hotel. Not many F&B operating at night especially after 8pm. The consolation, Family mart is 500m away.

When i booked this i though we might struggle a bit since in the map it shows it could be a bit of a hazle getting there from the station. However, it was the complete oposite. It is walking distance to yown, but far enough the noise will not bother you, the inside streets where the hotel is are really quiet and so the other guests. We were upgraded for free, which was a very pleasant surprise! The room was huge, and so comfortable. The bathroom and toilet room were spotless, and they give you amenities! There is a laundry area and even vending machines. If you dont want to go out for dinner, you have a fresco market a few blocks away athat sell anything you want. The staff was amazing as well, even if we didnt speak any Japanese and they spoke very little English, we both had translator apps and they were very patient with me. Will definitely come back in the next trip!

A blend of traditional Ryokan and western hotel gives a uniquely pleasant vibe. Room is spacious. Bed is comfortable. It’s new and clean. Location is perfect for those who signed up for Kyoto Marathon (like myself!) as it is only 5 minutes walk away from the finish line. There is a McDonald’s 2 minutes away and quite a few convenience stores nearby. It’s 5 min away from Higashiyama station which is really shorter than what Google map suggests.

Nothing I didn’t like, really. The only thing to nit pick is their low ceiling and door frame. If you are taller than 1.8m, you need to be careful. :)
