It was so nice to have a larger apartment with a small kitchen. Great addition with a washing machine including some soap. And the heated function to dry clothes in the bathroom is awesome. Great location.

The beds are hard. So hard we asked for extra blankets to pad it up a bit. It’s unfortunate because everything else was great. Also since there’s a kitchen some basics like salt and pepper and even some cooking oil would be great. When you’re only there 3-4 days it’s nice not to have to buy all that. Many places supply it.

Very nice apartment in a good location with great access to public transportation and a supermarket close by. According to Japanese standards it was quite big, but still there was only limited space for the suitcases and their content. The kitchen was well equipped.

The beds had a good size but the mattresses were far to hard. Therefore I would not recommend the apartment for people who sleep preferably on their side. The reception staff could be more educated about restaurants in close proximity as we would not get a recommendation the first night and learned over time that there are plenty of opportunities.

Hotel Mondonce Kyoto is a small service apartment hotel. Its about 10min walk from Gojo station. They have a 24hr reception. The room has a balcony which is really nice. Eventhough the standard room that we had was a bit cramped for 4 adults, the balcony help to make it less tight. There is a nice supermarket a short walk away called Fresco which had fruits, vegetables and meat for sale. Not the usual convenience store like Lawsons. We managed to cook a simple meal. The kitchenette was small but sufficient. Room has a washing machine but not dryer. Clothes have to be dried in the bathroom which has this brilliant heating, drying and fan function. By hanging clothes over the bathtub and DRY function, clothes are prefectly dry in 4 hrs. No need to iron as clothes are not crinkled compared to drying clothes in machine. Down the down, there is a Michelin star Ramen place which is really good.

Reception mostly do not speak English. So used Google translate. We only managed to get a standard room which is a bit tight for 4 adults. Only 1 suitcase can be kept open. The other suitcases have to be kept in the cupboard which is fortunately big enough to put all the unopened suitcases. We had to place all our clothes on the shelf and hangers in the cupboard which is OK.

Hotel Mondonce was conveniently located. We easily walked to the the hotel from Kyoto Station and were greeted by welcoming staff at the front desk. The room was comfortable and satisfactorily sized with two double beds, a small dining table, kitchenette with cooking facilities. The bathroom and laundry were clean and easy to use. The surrounding area was easy to navigate with a small grocery store a few minutes away. The back streets were quaint and charming and we enjoyed navigating them. Transport options were nearby for the usual attractions such as Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji, etc. and the hotel was only a 30 minute walk to Kiyomizudera.

There was nothing not to like about Hotel Mondonce.

Stylish room with space to spread out. Comfortable bed and good temperature control in the room. Washing machine in the bathroom and drying room (clever dual use of the shower room dried clothes in a few hours) were very convenient. Location in a quiet residential lane but very close to main roads and stations for taxis and trains, but also plenty of things within walking distance (e.g. Gion, main shopping, Nishiki Market, Kyoto station, Kiyomizudera temple). Supermarkets 2 mins walk away.

Nothing really, it was a great base for our 5 night stay.

Would be nice to have a drying rack or bar to have on balcony to dry clothes. Elevator was stuffy and wish there was someone at lobby more often. The location was pretty good but need to understand where you want to be in the city. It was near two good subway stops but not a ton of food options right nearby the hotel. Had to make sure I had dinner somewhere out before we came back home

Very clean, modern apartment with modern amenities and enough space for a family of 4. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartment was a a couple minutes walk from the bus stop and a 7 or so minute walk to Gojo station. There is a supermarket around the corner which was fantastic and provided our daily breakfast and other essentials. Nishiki Markets and the main shopping street was in walking distance. We loved the location and felt it was central to everything in Kyoto. We especially loved walking through the neighbourhood exploring the streets.

This family studio was excellent for a more-than week long stay. Excellent bathroom, washing machine and drying facility was perfect. Truly sustainable in terms of water, electricity and waste management. We used the pull-out sofa bed and this was comfortable. It had everything for self-catering meals, but also simple restaurants and shops nearby.

Wifi was pretty-dismal, most evenings we went on our mobile data plans. We were not able to arrange for luggage delivery to airport, and were advised to go to the nearest 7-11 store to make the arrangements; but 7-11 would have needed our days around 2-3 days in advance of our departure.

We stayed here for our last 4 nights in Japan. The hotel was lovely and had everything that we required, which was great. The close proximity of the hotel to the train station, was wonderful and an absolute bonus. It was an easy 23 minute train ride to Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea. Also, our train trip with all of our luggage was quite effortless getting to Narita Airport. It was just a walk around the corner from the hotel and up onto the train station platform. The hotel room was reasonably spacious. We didn't bother cooking, but it looked like there was great facilities in the kitchen, should we have needed them. The shower was lovely and hot with great pressure. The clothes drying area in the shower room was excellent. We always felt safe walking back at night and there were various convenience stores close by. The beds were definitely the most comfortable that we had to sleep in for our 18 day holiday in Japan. A good night's rest after huge days was very much appreciated.

The location of the hotel was probably a lot further out from the centre of Tokyo, than we had realized when we booked. I suppose that in a city this massive it is going to be spread over a very wide area. In saying this, it was definitely close enough to the majority of our planned events for our last few days.

Great location, everything worked, good size apartment, fast lift, quiet, easy check in and -out, some Izakaya in the neighbourhood, short distance to supermarket and 100Yen shop, the washing machine and drying room was great.

Beware ! No parking, hard to park to unload when arriving by car, the staff will actively block a car space preventing you from temporarily parking there to unload. Some privat car parks in the vicinity but prices vary greatly. Only Japanese TV. No cable or satellite.
