Shiki Shiki Higashiyama

. I spent five nights here. This was an excellent value. I had a well designed and comfortable small room with a shower. The toilet was conveniently located just outside my door. The location enabled me to walk to most of the tourist attractions I wanted to visit AND it is just half a block from a subway station and a block from the bus stop that got me other places that I wanted to visit. There were no staff members on duty, but check in was super easy. I was emailed the access info that I needed to enter the building and my room. The shared toilet was immaculent. I rarely saw other guests. The bookingdotcom website was incorrect about one thing--you can go directly to the hotel and enter it. There is no other location to first go to. I was able to clear that up by contacting the property owner, who was very easy to contact.

This was a great stay.

Close to Higashiyama station and Sanjo Keihan station with convenient access to many famous tourist spots like Gion, Kiyomizu Temple, Ginkakuji, Nijo Castle, Fushimi Inari and more. Everything was well cleaned and there was a small shared kitchen area with a refrigerator as well as a private shower. Don't miss the coffee at the cute little cafe Green Door next doors!

My only problem with this place was that they demanded cash payment - except that, everything was great!

We loved the place in general, how it is simple but nice, wood all around and warm feeling. Room was perfect size, the sink inside makes all the difference, beds super comfy as our first experience in a Japanese style of bed, of course for some may feel a bit hard but for us was actually better, after few days of walking and carrying our bags, it felt even better than a regular bed.

Nothing much. Second floor could have one more toilet, I felt it was too little only one for all the rooms.

Great location only 2 mins walk to train station and about 20 mins walk to Gion and Ninenzaka. Modern japanese style interior, feels quite unique. I booked 2 rooms, both were clean and the futon beds were very comfortable.

While the ensuite bathroom and overall property is very clean, the shared bathroom (Ground floor next to reception) hygine could be improved to match the ensuites standard. One quick cleaning work that will make a big difference is to remove visible mould/stain in shower cubicle. It wasn’t major though so not a big issue.

Location was spot on if you want to be immersed in the lively location of the Gion District. Rooms small and simple. Very clean. Self service accommodation. (We didn't see any staff whilst we stayed)

the deluxe double was spacious with a nice semi-outdoor shower area. bigger than the other rooms we have had in Japan. easy self check in and out process.

walls a bit thin, can hear others coming in and out but this did not interfere with our sleep and people were generally quiet

Good area vilde to everything we needed. The interior was super Nice.

Not to leave the note with the code of the room outsider the front door. When we arrived on our second stay, the note had been taken by another guest, who was in our room.

The outdoor bathtub was great to relax after a long day of walking around. The location is optimal, lots of places of interest are located at a walking distance.

Well organized, great location, good facilities and overall very pleasant stay.

Absolutely beautiful hotel the owners leave a little note on the main door for you to get all your codes and info and the stone bath in the bottom floor rooms were amazing
