The staff was very nice and welcoming. The hotel is on the opposite side of the metro and in walking distance to Kiyomizu-dera, Gion and the Yasaka Shrine. You can get coffee and juice in the entrance hall and store your luggage before checking in and out.
The room wasn't properly cleaned when we arrived and is was offered just on cleaning during our stay. Unfortunately the cleaning wasn't good. Just the trash was emptied and the towels were changed. No new sheets, dust everywhere and the trash was emptied but no new trash bag. Also there are just a limited option of restaurants in the area.

This was our favourite hotel in Japan. The value for money is impressive, and the room was beautiful. We loved the minimalist design and the use of wood in the room. The room is a bit bigger than the norm, and there was a lot of storage space for our luggage (at least by Japan standards). The staff were really kind and helpful, and we appreciated the breakfast option although it's pretty basic (continental style). The location is also fantastic: right next to bus stops and within walking distance of a subway station, Gion, and Pontocho Alley. Bonus: there's a hotel across the street with a bartender who makes delicious cocktails!
Nothing--we loved everything!

A wonderful little hotel where there has been added thought in little ways everywhere to make your stay extra special. The room was a great size compared to others in Japan and the bathroom was a reasonable size. The breakfast each morning was delicious, loved the personalised coffee cups, and the location was convenient for most things to do around Kyoto with train and bus stops right nearby. It really is the perfect Kyoto stay!
They unfortunately don't offer daily cleaning of rooms, only once in the time we stayed and unfortunately didn't feel like it was thorough enough considering this. Beds weren't made properly, doona thrown back over and towels changed, that's it. Pillows were not great. One was super small and the other was too flat.

The rooms are new and very well designed and arranged. Despite the room not being very large, we had space for everything. Room was soundproof. The shower was the greatest we had in any hotel ever. Bed was very comfortable. Location: short walk Gion and two subway lines. Can visit many temples by walking only. Free coffee/tea in the lobby.
Breakfast is limited: a box with a few pieces of bread and pastries + butter + yoghurt + granola. It was good enough for us, but other might find it inadequate. There are other options within walking distance. One minor issue: There is a single step between the sleeping area and the entrance/bathroom. Could be unsafe especially for elderly guests.

Hotel Legasta was my favourite accommodation of our 2 week Japan trip. Clean, modern, comfortable with a lot of space to walk around and traditional tatami flooring as well as all amenities. Location-wise it was two subways (easy), one bus, or a $15USD taxi from Kyoto station. A few mins walk from Higashiyama station. It was also walkable to Ginza, and one bus to Kiyomizu-Dera (the big temple), and one bus to Fushimi Inari Shrine (torii gates). There were combinis across the street and also right beside a McDonalds. The area was quiet at night. We were only there for two days so we didn't use any communal amenities, but the room itself was well equipped with pajamas, kettle, fridge, toiletries, etc. You had to get coffee downstairs. Bed was SUPER COMFORTABLE. If we were staying in Kyoto longer, we would've extended our stay.
No fully black-out window curtains, there is a sliding wooden panel that let's a sheer amount of light through during the day. Was not an issue though.

The Legasta Kyoto Sanjo Hotel offered a perfect stay, mainly due to its five-star staff who went above and beyond despite speaking very little English. The rooms were pristine, with regular housekeeping, fresh towels available on request, and comfortable mattresses and pillows. The location was ideal, close to bus and metro stops, allowing us to explore Kyoto with ease.
Initially, we were assigned a room in the basement that had a strong musty odor due to the high humidity. This could be problematic for travelers with respiratory sensitivities, as it might worsen asthma or other breathing issues. Thankfully, after discussing it with the staff, we were quickly moved to a more suitable room on the ground floor, which resolved the issue completely.

I stayed at this hotel and was extremely satisfied. The location was excellent: in Gion Higashiyama, close to many temples, shrines and alleys to visit, and just a short walk from the metro station, which made getting around very convenient. The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean, providing great comfort throughout the stay. But the real highlight was the staff, who were incredibly kind and helpful. They were always ready to assist with advice, directions, and even restaurant reservations. Additionally, they managed the luggage forwarding service to other hotel in Japan without any issues, making everything much easier. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great base to explore the city with maximum comfort and support. また近いうちにこのホテルに戻りたいと思っています. ありがとうございます.

The location is great, right next to a charming market and within walking distance from many sightseeing locations. The hotel has a nice design and the room is spacious, and well equipped. The shower and bathrooms are modern and comfortable.
The ventilation and lights in the basement room can be improved and some more variety for the breakfast would be appreciated. Cleaning was done only once during our stay (5 nights) and a more frequent and thorough cleaning would be much better.

We booked a Deluxe Family Room that was conveniently tucked away in the basement. We were so relieved because we won’t have to be too stress about the noise from the kids. The room interiors is a mix of traditional elements with modern touches and beautiful mini garden arrangement in our room is a work of art. The amenities were generous and fantastic. The toiletries were well equipped I didn’t have to bring our own. The space for the room and bathroom is perfect for a family of 4, making it easy for us the dress the kids in the bathroom. The kids have space to play in the room, lounge on the bean bags, and have a snack at the coffee table.
The WiFi was a little weak in the basement but still works.

Spacious nicely designed rooms, great location.
There were occasional smells (drainage pipe) that came from outside the room?
