Dormy Inn Matsuyama Natural Hot Spring

The closest available and suitable accommodation to Niihama where we wished to attend the Taikodai Festival. We began planning twelve months prior to our arrival and we were so very fortunate to correspond with Kuono, of the Front Office at Dormy Inn. She was exemplary and generous in her assistance by email….in fact, many emails and it was a delight to meet her during our stay. We remain incredibly grateful to Kuono who was responsible for helping us to fulfill a long held wish. She found tickets for us, provided transport information and shared such kindness through her warm personality. The location of Dormy Inn was very convenient to transport and to restaurants.

Good hospitality, good breakfast, good services(free ice cream, free probiotic drink, and free midnight snack) clean room and clean public hot spring. Everything was super clean, building itself was build recently. It is inside of okaido's shopping street, you can ride the Limousin bus to the airport near here. Contemporary style but you can also enjoy Japanese style hot spring and food here.

A bit small room compare to the price, but complementary services can even out those matters. Nothing else to be a problem here. I definitely come back here if I ever been to matsuyama again.

The hotel is located in the arcade shopping street and truly near everything in Matsuyama the castle cable car is just 5 min walk and many shops and restaurants are steps away. The tram can be taking easily to go to the Dogo Onsen area (in our opinion the Dormy hotel offers a better Onsen experience than the Dogo itself :-) ) but you can experience it by yourself and decide. The staff is incredible kind and welcoming. Ask anything they will made the best effort to help you.

Again the bed and pillows are really really hard and uncomfortable we couldn’t sleep luckily it was just one night. Sadly it was our second Dormy experience and we had the same with the bed and pillows as we did in Kyoto.

Positives - nice room. Very clean. Onsen hot springs is beautiful, the outdoor bath is very relaxing and the whole area was always very clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very good location for shopping, bars and restaurants and the tram line.

Negatives - our toilet smelled like drains. You could only smell it in the bathroom thankfully and it was very clean (can only assume this is a plumbing problem) Also in the night we arrived the bed linen felt very slightly damp. Like it hadn’t had time to dry before going on the bed. Both small things that didn’t impact our stay.

This was my third dormy inn stay so far over the last few weeks. The onsen is always the highlight. Good breakfast buffet with local specialties + the usual late evening ramen. Staff has always been very nice, be it in the reception, kitchen, cleaning, maintenance… Matsuyama dormy inn is in very central location (okaido), in the middle of shopping district, close too castle and one minute walk from the trams. Rooms are clean and size is ok.

As building is in the covered shopping street, many rooms on lower floors have little or no views at all.

The chain hotels are good all the way no matter where they are located. In this one we found the staff particularly helpful. We were given a room with cigarettes smell even it was supposed to be non-smoking. We reported that to the front desk and we were relocated to a new room immediately even it was past 10:30 pm, pretty late. The staff may not speak good English but they used a translator to help international visitors. It worked for me very well. Loved the public bath and the free treats.

They allow you to bring your bicycle up to the room! The room is also very quiet and very comfortable. Onsen was fantastic! A few months ago I asked them if they could help me with a problem regarding luggage storage, and they went out of their way to check for options for me. This one act of service alone is enough to warrant full points!

Location is central and easy to reach from the station. The Dormy Inn perks such as iced coffee or tea, evening ice lolly, late night ramen and morning yakult all make you feel pampered. Nice bath area, although I prefer a Finnish sauna to the steam sauna they had at this hotel. Excellent service in bringing early checked baggage up to our room before we returned.

I find Dormy Inn pillows really lumpy and uncomfortable!

Great location near a tram stop. You enter the building from within a large covered mall. Our room was clean and a good size for a city. I didn't use the onsen but my partner said it was excellent. Lots of good meal options nearby. We had breakfast one morning which had good local food. The western offering was limited and certainly different eating off tea saucer sized plates.

Don't expect a traditional western style breakfast ;-)

The room was small but clean, cosy and the bed was comfortable. Location was excellent having the main entrance in the Okaido shopping arcade. It was also walking distance to the Matsuyama Castle. We were here during the 2-day Spring Festival and got to see the Parade "at the doorstep". The onsen was also excellent. After an evening "dip", there was the free ramen for you to enjoy! Highly recommended place to stay in.
