Awesome location. Really close to a couple of Subway lines with easy access to famous tourist points and attractions. One of the the most popular shrines in Tokyo, the Asakusa shrine is located just across the road. Starbucks is just next door, and lot of other eating places and restaurants all around the hotel. The hotel is close to the Ginza line and a few stops away from the Ueno station and park which is the get off point for the Zoo and a host of other museums. Another disxovery we had was that there is another line by which you can reach Akihabara which is just three stations away. We had earlier relied upon the Ginza line which took a longer route. The Tokyo skytree is also walking distance or can be reaches by the subway as well. The hotel itself is clean with great views from the lobby. The rooms on the lower floors are non smoking but don't have any views. The rooms are a bit small, but this is again expected for centrally located hotels in top cities. The staff is great and the breakfast is adequate = the options could come across as limited, but it's a pretty standard western fare. I also really liked the fact that the room had Nespresso machine with complimentary pods. Overall I would recommend the hotel both for the location and service.

This hotel is very new and has some added bonuses such as the stunning view from the lobby and the rooftop terrace which was lovely after a big day of walking. The hotel is a welcome retreat after a big day in Tokyo. For our last day it was perfect for the souvenir shopping around Sensoji Temple as the hotel is right across the road. We booked a premium twin room and had playoff space to organise luggage along with separate toilets to the bathroom and a cupboard. At first I was disappointed that the hotel didn’t have an onsen however the bathroom was set up like your private one complete with seperate bath and seat to sit on to wash prior to getting on the bath. special mineral salts were provided to add to the water. With two ladies and lots of luggage from our travels, we had an excellent last night of our holiday at this hotel. We didn’t eat at the hotel but the restaurant looked lovely.
The lift to the subway if you want to catch the Asakusa line to Haneda is A2b. If you have a lot of luggage ( as we did) the walk is a little longer . This is no fault of the hotel however something to keep in mind. The G subway line is very close and only two stops from Ueno which is always a good option.

The staff at this hotel are incredibly welcoming and accommodating, always ready to assist with a smile. The rooftop terrace offers breathtaking views, and the skilled bar staff craft fantastic drinks to complement the experience. The room size surpassed our expectations, especially considering Japan's standards. Situated in the heart of Asakusa, the location is perfect for immersing oneself in the vibrant energy of the area. Additionally, we greatly appreciated the convenience of being able to leave our bags at the hotel after check-out, allowing us to explore freely until our evening flight.
Enhancing the rooftop terrace with gas fire heaters would elevate the experience, ensuring guests can fully enjoy the breathtaking views in cozy comfort regardless of the weather.

Excellent location with both an interesting temple nearby as well as being a transport hub to Haneda airport and Nikko. Shinkansen connections are available in Ueno, which is just a few minutes away via subway. Nice roof-top bar with views of the temple district and (partially) the Skytree. The room was spacious by JP standards. Very friendly staff. Many restaurants are around the corner. Good value.
Expensive laundry service (no self-service coin laundry) - albeit fast.

very nice loction , close to Asakusa station and Sensoji Temple walking distance within 5 minute. Very nice staff. My English is not good but they try to understand and help me with service mind. Our room is not tokyo skytree nut have more space than other hotel with the same rate of rom price. Moreover, the hotel has very fantastic view of Tokyo Sky Tree at the Lobby and roof top. Dont miss it.
we dont want cleaning room service so the hotel give us thank you letter. We are appreciate but they didnt give us free water anymore. It's little thing that we dont mind because we had wonderful stay at the hotel.

The location is excellent. Our room (603) overlooked the street so we could see the rickshaws and ladies in their kimonos walking by (but no road noise); we could also see the Sensoji Kaminarimon Gate and popped over to see the shrine at 6:30am one morning when there was hardly anyone else around which was fantastic. Our room had a very large bed, Japanese pyjamas provided and was a very good size with a table and two chairs by the window. The Ginza and Asakusa metro lines were a couple of minutes walk away so access to all areas of Tokyo was quick and easy. Staff were very polite and helpful. Great view of the Skytree lit up at night from reception on 13th floor. Couldn't fault the hotel and Asakusa is a great area to stay in with loads of lovely shops and restaurants. Hope to stay again sometime.
Only a bedside table on one side of the bed but that was to allow room for a table and chairs by the window which I think was a reasonable swap.

The location cannot be beat and the views from the terrace are simply incredible. Staff is accommodating and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay. We were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and they offered a number of unique ways to make our stay special! That was so appreciated. At breakfast they had fresh squeezed orange juice and incredible locally source honey.
The breakfast left a bit to be desired, it was a combination of a la carte with a choice of three main menu item. I wish it had been more of a traditional Japanese breakfast, I found the French toast to be quite soggy. If you don’t mind the limited options then you’ll be fine.

As we stayed 5 nights, we were very impressed with the size of the room. We booked a room with sitting area and a bar. It was great. The ensuite had a vanity area and walked through to shower room with a Japanese bath that had a view of the Tokyo Sky Tower. Separate toilet room. Water pressure was great. The bed was comfortable and the room had adjustable heating and cooling. We had daily service of the room. Very impressed overall. Breakfast was great with three hot meals to choose from and a small buffet selection. Fresh OJ was a nice treat. There was a bar and viewing deck upstairs with a great view of the city. Location was also superb. For Culture and shopping. There is a supermarket downstairs and many restaurants within close vicinity. Staff were also lovely.
We were informed via letter the day before checkout that the hotel was closing for electrical maintenance for 24 hours. This did cause a little stress in finding out if our luggage could be stored during the day. However the staff were terrific and assisted us with storage of our luggage and everthing went smoothly.

Location was ideal. Just a short walk to the Ginza line and we traveled easily throughout Tokyo. Loved all the food options and shops in Asakusa. Breakfast was excellent, helpful staff. The little bar on the top floor was a nice place to unwind. There is a small smoking patio adjacent to the bar that has a direct view to Mt. Fuji when clear. Loved checking that view each morning.
The room was very tight! To be expected in Tokyo, but the room our teens were in was a bit larger and more manageable. Carpet looked a bit stained. But overall we managed well and were very comfortable.

The Gate Hotel was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It felt like a small, boutique hotel, with excellent service and a quiet, mellow atmosphere. The location was perfect for us, a quick train ride with access to many restaurants and tourist sites. The view from the check in and terrace was amazing. The Sky tree was in full view and you could see Mt. Fuji on a clear day. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was amazing with excellent service, fantastic food choices and a beautiful view. I couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Asakusa!
