Overall, it was a really nice stay. The female dorm and showers/toilets were clean. Showers were strong and hot. The location was really perfect - only a 15 minute walk from the orangutans, RDC, and sunbears, and the lodge was very peaceful. Breakfast was good and the restaurant had good food at a reasonable price. Filtered water and hot water was available, and restaurant staff were very friendly.
Luckily I was in a well-positioned bunk, but be aware that there are only 4 plugs in the 6-bed female dorm, and they are all at one side of the room. If you’re in bed 1 or 2, you’re fine. But if you’re in an upper bunk or a bed at the back of the room, you’ll find it difficult to charge your phone. And bring a jumper, because the AC is very cold (which is nice after a long day in the rainforest, but not so nice in the middle of the night!). Also be aware that Grab is readily available to take you from the airport to the hostel for less than RM20. You don’t need to pay for the lodge’s transfer. But going from the hostel to the airport is more difficult, as most Grab drivers don’t want to leave the area to do the trip. So, leave yourself plenty of time to find a driver that will come.

Lovely room, breakfast was ok but one morning was a set menu then next it was buffet, buffet definitely not as good as the set menu day. Staff all very friendly. Great location to see orangutans and sun bears and could also get a grab to see proboscis monkeys in Labuk bay from here too.
We were told to book the hotel taxi from the airport to the hotel. Then when leaving we were told to just get a grab back to sandakan, would have been great to of been told we could’ve just got a grab to the hotel from the airport for a fraction of the price (150MYR for hotel taxi and only 35MYR for a grab)!!! So definitely don’t use their hotel taxi and just get a grab instead!!!

Walking distance from orang utan centre. Very friendly staff, good guy at the reception, he was new but very professional. Breakfast was very nice and the happy hour helps on a hot evening. Rooms and toilets clean and good value.
Beds a bit uncomfortable, mattresses are a bit too thin in the dorms, but no big deal. Wifi in the dorms didn't work.

The lodge had an air-conditioned dorm. The dorm room is very spacious. Breakfast was included and had a very good selection. The lodge is walking distance to the sun bear and Orang utan rehabilitation centres and the rainforest discovery centre (approx. 15 minutes walking). They had free drinking water.
There are not many restaurants in the area, mostly in other lodges. The onsite restaurant only had a buffet for lunch and dinner and was quite pricey. The dorms could use lockers. My bed looked like someone had used it (blanket just thrown on top) - it seemed cleaned though. The AC was a bit strong. Thicker blankets would have been useful. A towel would be a nice addition as well. Overall, it's still a nice place to stay!

Resort is nice, the garden is well kept, reception works perfect, rooms are specious and clean. BUT
personal running the kitchen must be changed. They are completely incapable of running it at the resort level. Buch of kids running around. "Breakfast" for such a resort and price is a joke. There is nothing really positive to say. On the other side langsat fruit is rottening in the garden, waiting to be picked, while kids are playing with their phones. Rambutan is literally falling on the tables. Food taste is not ok. At least not by western standards. Far and away.

I loved my stay at Tanini and my friend and I would have liked to stay much longer than 2 nights if we hadn’t have already booked further travel. The dorm was clean and comfortable, beautiful grounds filled with sweet kittens and cute puppies. Reception is a nice area to chill in and free drinking water is provided. The staff were all so lovely and welcoming and we felt at home. Good breakfast buffet too and the food at the restaurant was really good. It’s easy to get a taxi to the orangutan, sun bear and rainforest centre but we chose to walk and it was a pleasant walk. 15-20 mins to first two and maybe 10 mins to rainforest discovery centre. I really recommend here

Splurged for one of the private rooms- was large, clean, had great AC, and amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower had hot water and great pressure. They also post a sign to tell you the best times for good water pressure. Staff were incredibly friendly and helped me book all my tours. You can pay for your tour/stay at their Kinabatangan location here with your card as well. I would be prepared with cash just in case, since the nearest ATM will be all the way back in Sandakan. Great location- It was a manageable 10-20 min walk to all the attractions nearby.
Restaurant could use a bigger menu, or they could sell more ala carte options, since there really is nowhere close by to purchase snacks. Be aware that WiFi is currently only really working in the lobby, but it does work!

The food from the restaurant was very tasty and the prices was not expensive due the quality of the food. The welcome coffee dry bags in the room were very good and we have appreciated it a lot.
When we arrived at 03.00PM, the wifi service (in the room and in the entrance lobby) was down. By the night it started to work but the next day, in the morning, the service was down again. Only the restaurant's wifi service worked fine all the time.

The reception staff were absolutely exceptional! They helped me with everything from arranging pick ups, researching info about my tours and literally helping with everything. Big thank you to these lovely people. The location is full of greenery, they keep the property tidy and clean at all times. It feels like home and I would definitely stay with them again.
The wifi only works around the reception area and it barely works, so if you need internet, you need your own data. For those working remotely, you definitely need to buy internet to your phone.

Great stay!! We booked as it was one of the cheapest dorm options for our stay but we felt very spoilt and felt like a treat. Stayed with my husband in 8 person dorm (we were the only ones staying in our dorm for the duration of our stay) They spread the guests in dormatory out acorss the 5 rooms giving everyone space. The beds comfy, the room had 8 plugs in it (not sure why other reviews said otherwise). The beds comfy, usually we like curtains in hostel beds but not essential. The grounds for the hotel are stunning, feels like your in the rainforest. The toilets super clean, indoor/outdoor vibe with lots of plants. Free tea and coffee from reception. The staff all amazing and friendly and hard working. Booked our jungle nighttime walk which was super and our bus back to kota kinabalu again super helpful as couldn't work out how to get tickets online - they arranged it all and we paid on the bus so they didn't make any money from us for this. The food was great! Ate there for lunch and dinner and breakfast. Buffet breakfast one day (they make fresh eggs/omlet for you if its buffet), the rest is self serve beans/ toast/ noodles potatos. Lunch and dinner was great good. We ate at the bnb closeby as we were hungry and resturant wasn't open (also good food) but the service/atmosphere better at our hotel. Tip - walk to the orangatangs to see morning feed after breakfast, then go to see sunbears (next-door) around 11am (they get feed then too) then come back for a rest / play boardgames at hotel.
Nothing this was great stay! All the staff amazing from the receptionist with a hat in afternoon and lady in the morning, and the staff in the resturant who were super pleasant!
