Dar Rafik is in a great location just a couple of minutes up a hill from the Medina entrance. Personally, we prefer staying outside of the Medina in Chefchaouen because getting your luggage up all the stairs and through the narrow streets with all the shops would have been a nightmare. It was perfect to visit the Medina and the rest of the town easily. The breakfast was very lovely and we liked our room. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but unlike other guesthouses and riads we stayed in throughout our time in Morocco, this one doesn't really have a common area other than the rooftop terrace. In that sense, it was more like a hotel. For us, it was fine. They were very kind to let us store our luggage in an unused room for a couple of hours since our transport to Tangier was after our check-out time.

We had a bit of trouble finding the place since there's two locations on Google Maps and the link provided to us took us to the wrong location, which was just a small street away, but it was a little confusing.

loved how the place was decorated and it was nice and clean . Location was really good .

smoke from the neighbouring building prevented us from sitting on our balcony as it was billowing up to us.

I felt like a queen living here! The comfort was beyond my dreams! So much space and beautiful details! The bed was better than mine at home and everything was simply amazing! Gorgeous bathroom and even staircase. The roof terrace was epic and the view priceless! The breakfast was huuuge and delicious, the best of one month Morocco! This is THE place to stay in town!

I only stayed one night and that was by far not enough! Neither for the city nor for the hotel.

The breakfast in the rooftop. Beautiful view and the breakfast it self was variety. The host! She was so patient and smile everytime. Came from Tetouane for work and helped us for early check-in. Location just a bit uphill from the famous gate. But it's right outside of medina gate which were we like. Since inside Medina's stay could be to crowed for us. The bed was hard but apparently, my husband back doesn't have problems with it. The room was spacious. We had bedroom, small living room and bathroom.

The room isn't soundproof. We wake up few times because of the "singing" chicken at 3 am in the morning. So bring your earplugs and eye cover. The room we had, was facing the outdoor big stone oven. And we had some smoke smells at night, not sure because of the oven outside our window.

The hostess is so nice and sweet, very helpful and welcoming! The room was great, super clean and well decorated! The A/C was nice and quiet. The wifi was good and reliable. They provided us with extra pillows and blankets, which was very nice. The breakfast was generous and tasty, served on the terrace upstairs with a great view on the city and the mountains! The location is great too, just a few steps from the medina.

The mattress is really hard (but it seems to be a standard in Morocco, I don’t know) and the kids outside scream loud until late at night, bring earplugs if you like a quiet sleep.

Big room with extra "living room" and complimentary water. Good location in Chefchaoen, everything accessible by foot. Even though communication wasn't that easy (one woman could only speak arabic, but later during check-in we could communicate in english), everyone was super friendly. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was amazing.

Found some hair in the bathroom but besides that, very clean.

Oumaima, was extremely helpful before arriving, while staying. She went above and beyond and observed my birthday and asked the breakfast staff (who was also very kind) to wish me a good day, very thoughtful, very rare. Her english was very good as well as helped us to find the Grande Taxi location in Chefchaouen for our journey to Tangier the next day. She definitely made the stay.

We had the cheaper room on the 1st floor. However photos on the internet are of the top floor rooms, so we lacked any view of city or mountains, no balcony, and thus was very dark. I'd suggest that photos to each of the different rooms equate to the photos on the web. The wifi in that bottom room was also very bad to non existent. The mattress very hard as well, but found that most beds in Morocco to be hard.

The Dar Rafik hotel provided exactly what we were looking for during our stay in Chefchaouen. The hotel was very clean and all the staff were extremely polite and friendly. An excellent Moroccan breakfast was served on the roof terrace. The location was perfect - just a short walk into the centre of the old town, while the Bab Souk itself felt very "real" and had some lovely cafes and eateries which provided an ideal setting to sit and relax.

There was really nothing that we did not like.

The breakfast was plentiful. The breakfast on the terrace is great. Parking was available for a fee of 20 MAD per day (+20 MAD for being a foreigner). WiFi was also strong in the room. Communication was easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. The room is very nicely designed.

A board that served as a storage place was loose.
