Riad Dar El Souk

Beautiful relaxed Riad. The rooms were comfortable, clean and the decor was lovely. The location was incredible - right in the heart of the Medina but down an alley so set back enough for it to be a totally peaceful oasis. We were made to feel very welcome and looked after by all the staff - nothing was too much trouble for them. I was unwell and they let me check out late and they even brought my partner a gift on his birthday. The staff and location really make this place and it’s great value for money too. Thank you so much to everyone at Riad far el Souk for making our stay such a special one. ❤️

The breakfast was a bit limited.

We absolutely loved our stay at Dar El Souk. Everything was wonderful - the property itself is really beautiful, a lovely little courtyard garden with a plunge pool, up to the stunning roof terrace. I spent a couple of afternoons lounging on day beds, sipping mint tea and reading. Abdullah is a fabulous host, he really helped us with everything, from directions, recommendations, taxi prices, everything. Fatima is a wonderful cook; we had the pleasure of enjoying her home cooked dinner on the first night, which was probably one of the best meals we had in Marrakesh. The location is perfect - nestled right inside the Medina, close to countless restaurants, shops etc., but so quiet, you wouldn't know you were in the centre of it all. Every morning we woke up to nothing but birdsong. Our room was beautiful - clean, comfortable, and every room has it's own outside seating area. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

We loved how quiet and peaceful it was, we especially loved the rooftop terrace which was the perfect place to relax and escape the hustle & bustle from the markets. All of the staff were really helpful and friendly, they were kind enough to make us an early breakfast at 7am on the day we flew home (which we didn’t expect, as breakfast was usually served from 8.30am) They arranged our taxis to and from the airport and escorted us to meet our driver when we had to leave. The room was lovely, comfy bed and good shower and good WiFi - we felt really safe and welcome here 😄 thank you for a lovely stay!

Clean, nicely-decorated. Staff friendly, the manager was excellent. Location good - about 10 mins walk to Jamaa el Fna and even closer to the palaces. Comfy seating on rooftop and the ladies in the kitchen could bring you breakfast up there, which was great (although not nice for them to climb all the stairs).

Noise travelled quite far from the communal areas (courtyard and salon), so expect to be woken up from 0800 by other guests chatting. Breakfast times quite restrictive (around 0800-1000) so not ideal if planning to get out and about before that. Walking the streets around the Riad at certain hours didn't feel great - there were 3-4 men always gathered in the dark alley before the turn-off for the Riad which always made me feel a bit uneasy. Room was a bit cold when it rained, nothing dried easily (but hopefully a rare problem for Morocco!).

We opted for Riad Dar el Souk due to unavailability at our next rental for our one-day-earlier arrival. Our decision proved immensely fortunate. This Riad is exceptional, commencing with a warm welcome in the breathtaking patio. Our room was spacious, the bathroom provided ample room for storing all our products and move around, and the shower offered rare, wonderful water pressure (usually rare in Morocco). After a serene night in a totally quiet environment, we relished a generous and delicious breakfast, the coffee was delicious too. I 100% recommend this Riad and hope to come back to Marrakech and stay there.

Attempting to extend our stay, we found it fully booked – no surprise for such a fantastic place with a welcoming atmosphere!

As mentioned by other guests, hosts in this riad are very hospitable and polite. Location is great, just 5-6 mins walk to the Jemma-el-Fna.

Unfortunately breakfast was below our standards. Not very nutritional. Out of 5 days we only got eggs twice and it was just one egg per person. Other than that just bread with butter and jam, and small pot of fruit. Our room felt very dark and cold, but I guess this wouldn't bother me if it was very hot summer day outside, unfortunately we came when it was pretty cold weather.

Everything, what is not to like. The staff were incredibly kind and couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was beautiful everyday it was cleaned to an immaculate standard. From the moment we walked in, we were treated very well. The breakfast was also amazing we loved it! Very central location also, we would 100% stay here again. We were very sad to leave.

Absolutely nothing to report back, everything was fab! Really couldn't fault it, this really is the place to stay when staying in the centre!

The riad is stunning in photos but even more so in person. The look of the property and all of the services they provide were exactly as described. We were first time travelers to Morocco and it was very comforting to get what was expected. The daily breakfast was made to order and delicious. The rooms were stunning and very comfortable. The AC units worked well and helped a lot to beat the heat. The staff was amazing as well. Abdullah and Youness are the day and night time managers respectively. They both attended to all our needs courteously and efficiently. We needed transport to and from the train station. We also needed to get laundry done. Both needs were met without any issues. Overall it was a wonderful place to stay and I would stay again in the future and recommend it to others.

Nothing, it was as expected.

The location is nice and well maintained, all rooms have an outdoor space with a table and chairs to relax, you cannot hear much noise from Medina in the Riad (which is super important), the staff is friendly and they pay a lot of attention on all your requests. You will feel supported. They have plenty of options for tour and guides, I suggest Ciel d'Afrique hot air balloon, a unique experience. The breakfast is good.

Beds are not that comfortable and we had not a queen bed but two small beds side by side. The rooms are a little bit dusty.
