Location was excellent, right in Thamel but in a quiet alley. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. The room was of a good size and the bed (extra big) was really really comfy. A 10/10

My wife and I stayed at Vastu Boutique for a total of 8 nights but we had originally only intended to stay 2. We had to wait for a visa for our next country and it was taking a while but luckily everyone from management to the front desk staff were extremely accommodating and helpful in letting us extend our stay each day until we got our visa! The front desk staff is ridiculously friendly, helpful, attentive with everything from local recommendations to anything we needed for the room and they were really prompt about everything! The hotel itself is really well maintained, nice, modern, clean, and comfortable. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms and it was so cozy, well lit, and comfortable that we felt like we were at home the whole time. A big plus is the TV worked well and had loads of sports channels to watch the EuroCup and the cricket World Cup in HD! Another BIG plus is the breakfast… it goes until 11 and is freshly made to order from 4 or 5 different options and the chef does a fantastic job! They also have a very nice restaurant (GravEATy) across the street so if you want something other than the breakfast options, you can go off their menu and it’s brought to the hotel for you. Same goes for lunch and dinner. Honestly, we couldn’t be any happier with the hotel, the staff, the management, and everything Vastu Boutique Hotel has to offer - do yourself a favor and book it for your stay in Kathmandu!

The value of this hotel is exceptional. Large room, great location - just at the edge of the busy area of Thames, so that it is nearby everything, yet also quiet at night. The staff are exceptional - able to provide great hospitality at the hotel, and also book excursions more affordably than through apps. Their travel partners from restaurants to drivers were all great.

One curious thing. The hotel provided housekeeping only when requested - that is fine. I prefer not having daily housekeeping because I can make my own bed. However, twice during my stay I noticed some things had shifted in the washroom - once some of my personal items had been rearranged, and another time a wet towel had been left in the wash basin. On these occasions nothing else was disturbed in the room, so it remains a curiosity. Perhaps maintenance staff were doing work?

The Vastu is a good hotel on the fringes of Thamel. It's in a solid modern building; the walls are substantial (no noise from the neighbors). Management and staff are very friendly and helpful. The standout feature of our room was the super comfy bed (much better than the bed in our next hotel booked by our UK tour operator as part of a trekking package and twice the price of the Vastu). There is an inviting roof terrace (flowers/plants abound) where it's possible to have breakfast.

The only reason it's not a 10 rating is that due to its location the rooms are not the brightest.

Really enjoyed the location. Very quiet area compared to others in Thamel and still close to the center and all the action. Very walkable. I booked this property specifically because of good Wifi reviews as I needed to work and have a few Zoom calls. I‘m attaching a screenshot from the Wifi speed in case that‘s important for other guests. Thank you to all the staff and owners who made us feel special and helped us with purchases and recommendations. They really went beyond what you could expect and always had a welcoming smile on their face. We stayed in another hotel in Thamel as part of a trekking group as well but Vastu Boutique is really the most homely place you could find. BTW: try the veg momos at the restaurant, they are divine.

The hotel is very quiet. The beds were wonderful - very comfortable, clean, and pillows that were pretty good (not like the overstuffed bricks in many hotels). The staff were amazing - very friendly, helpful, and with great recommendations for food in the area. Breakfast was good, and they were able to make us packaged breakfast for our 6am departure day. AC worked well, which was helpful since the outside air was very polluted during our trip. We stayed at this hotel twice, before and after a hiking trip, and we were able to store some luggage with them.

great area, everything you need in the hotel. nice breakfast. The area is where all the action is but the hotel is in a dead end side street so traffic didn't go thru making it quiet and chill. The people from the hotel are enthusiastic to make everything right and they do. they're very kind and I felt safe there in terms of honesty. genuine people. you can get delicious masala tea or coffee wherever you like complimentary and bottled water. they also arranged a very cheap taxi to the airport for me.

Location: perfect if you want explore the tourist district of the city. It's also in a quiet area for you to sleep without noise. Room: New, modern design with attention to details. Minimalist yet adequate. Heating feature of the AC works well if you are here for winter and need a warm place. Surprisingly enough, the bathroom also had a vanity kit which I didn't expect (but didn't use as I had my own). Facilities: has a restaurant named Graveaty, has major food and drink items you would need. You may opt to dine in there or request room service. The hotel also has a luggage storage facility. That's a wonderful service if you are traveling outside the city and would not need to carry all your luggage. When you check out leave your luggage safely and collect it when you are back. They will give you a luggage tag. Staff are nice and welcoming. They will make hou stay comfortable by being available at your disposal when you need assistance. They even changed my room to upper floor when I reported a minor issue. Value for money: this hotel has a high cost-quality ratio meaning you get a bang for your buck. Good value for money. Overall, I would highly recommend this -- especially you support small business that delivers high quality at minimal cost.

Hotel was very unique, innovative, beautifully decorated and gave a cozy/ modern feel. It was also away from the hustle and bustle, safe and also close to great restaurants. Amazing family owned business. There was complimentary breakfast served by the owner’s family. He was a very friendly host who introduced us to their culture, hidden hikes and offered us a few different kind of home made “chiya” with their traditional spices. We travelled during their festival but the family stayed to host us. If I could genuinely rate it more than 5 stars I would.

The hotel is located in the middle of Thamel but two side streets away from the loud bustle and hustle. The reception team is stellar, doing everything they can to help you. Breakfast is freshly made to order, and the bed was very comfortable. Once you've figured out the air-conditioning, you'll also be fine with the concrete walls which don't keep any heat whatsoever in the rooms.

There was a distinct smell of mould in the windowless bathroom. Also, construction work went on through most of the day but you'll be outside during those hours. It didn't bother me.
