very good location near tram with comfy beds. We had 3 people on 3 twins separate beds. went in June so was hot but had enough windows to open for air flow. worth considering if you need AC. they did have a table fan in room. Traditional European sized bathroom. It is above 2 local bars/pubs nearby so could hear people outside talking so play white noise on phone if windows are open at night.

wouldnt provide more than 1 key card per room even when we asked. they have 24/7 desk service so was able to get let into room if we split up from the group.

I recently stayed at Amsterdam Downtown Hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Overall, I had a positive experience during my stay. Firstly, the hotel staff were exceptional. They were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to ensure that all of my needs were met. Secondly, the cleanliness of the hotel was good. The rooms were well-maintained and tidied up daily. The common areas were also kept clean and inviting. I appreciated the attention to detail when it came to cleanliness, as it made my stay more comfortable. One unique aspect of this hotel is that they have resident cats. As a cat lover, I found this to be a delightful addition to the overall ambiance of the place. The cats were friendly and added a homely feel to the hotel. However, if you have allergies or don't particularly enjoy the company of cats, it's worth considering this aspect before booking. In terms of the two-star rating, it's important to keep in mind that the facilities and amenities were relatively basic. Our room was small and didn't have all the luxuries you might find in higher-rated hotels. Overall, I would recommend Downtown Hotel in the center of Amsterdam. The exceptional staff, cleanliness, and the presence of cats made it a memorable and enjoyable stay. Just be aware of the limited facilities typically associated with a two-star rating.

It was great to be in the centre of the city with trams to choose from on the doorstep, the museums a short walking distance away and many shops of all kinds next door to the hotel. The Prinsengracht and the Keizergracht were a block away and offered lovely scenic walks. It was quiet in the hotel, although its locality is in the middle of Amsterdam life. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was great to have a little chat with the person on duty. Of course i had a favourite or two, but they were really all exceptional young people proud of 'their' hotel and their city. My room was clean, the water was warm and the bathroom wad very spacious. I heard no noise and was happy to come home to peace and serenity. The two hotel cats contributed to a feeling of homeliness.

I did not like the fact that a small quarter cup of hot - not boiling water- cost Euro 1,50. I would suggest to do what the British hotels fo. Place a kettle with tea bags and coffee with a cup in each room and let the visitor help him- or herself freely to it. It is sometimes very cold at night and even in the mornings it could be a good start to the day. it eould also be nice to have an extra blanket in the room in Autumn and in winter.

The staff was super nice and helpful. They let us keep out luggage the next day until 6 PM when we left Amsterdam. For the price compared to the rest of Amsterdam, it was reasonable. There is a communal fridge only accessed by the staff where they will take your stuff and store it in the fridge for you. The location was great as the Tram was 2 mins away walking. Shopping and food was around.

The room is bare bones. No AC, no fridge or microwave. Its just a place to sleep, which we didn’t mind because that’s what we did.

Location was great, we could walk majority of places we wanted to visit, we got the tram to further destinations but there was a tram stop very close to the hotel. Staff were friendly, clean towels offered every day

We paid on arrival as an expected, after making a €1700 payment we were then told we had to leave a further €100 deposit payment. We weren’t pre told this so was a little bit of a shock. The money was returned straight away on check out so no real issue

The location is central Amsterdam. You can find the tram stop only within a 2 min walk and train station is easily reachable by tram too. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby. The Staff at the reception were very friendly. If you need to print something, you can do it with less than a euro per sheet. Your room is cleaned every day when you get back from the trip. (5 pm?) There are two super cute cats in the hotel.

The room size was perfect for solo travelers like me. However, you may feel uncomfortable fitting in the bed if you are very tall. Probably even more uncomfortable if two people are on the bed.

We had an amazing stay at Downtown. Very welcoming and helpful staff, our room was a comfortable size with all the facilities we needed. Shower was hot and clean bathroom, daily non-intrusive room service. The two very sweet Cats who welcome us most days at reception were the highlight of our stay :))

Unfortunately our only grumble was the families we had staying in the two or more rooms beside us.. They were very loud from 6:30am and into the early hours of the morning, banging and slamming doors, knocking each others doors very loudly in the hallway and talking really loudly. It was the only negative we had during our stay.

The desk clerks were always friendly and helpful. They solved any problems in minutes.The location says everything, within walking distance of many museums and attractions.

The downstairs common space could be better used, more comfortable furnishings, cleaner. It smelled bad, like cat pee or weed. I would have enjoyed a leisure space to visit or play cards.

large room and comfortable beds, bathroom was also very nice and clean, the hotel also had its own parking garage in front of the main entrance, clean stairway, also had elevators, very nice and friendly staff

the window in the room had a leak and some small amount of drops of water were present near one of the beds in the morning (nothing too serious however), some small signs of deterioration were present in the room from previous customers, but nothing too bad

Great value for money, extremely friendly staff, right beside the tram, clean and comfortable rooms.

Booked through booking.com and nothing was said about a 50€ deposit fee so when we arrived we had to pay 50€ extra on top of taxes. I think it would help to make the rules for a deposit fee more clear. Also, the walls in the hotel I feel are quite thin, from our room we could hear commotion from outside the rooms not to the point it was frustrating just something that we noticed.
