This is a nice hotel and the room we stayed in was actually much more pleasant than the online pictures suggest. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom fine. There was a large kettle, as well as a Magimix machine with plenty of coffee. The breakfast was very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful, letting us check in early and leave our luggage for a few hours on departure day. We were not aware of any noise from outside. The no.4 tram stop is a few metres away.

Some people will find the steps and stairs from street level and up to the first floor tricky, but they were no problem for us.

The hotel is almost centrally located in a very nice neighborhood, and close to restaurants and public transport. The room was comfortable (a bit oblong) and provided all necessary amenities - even though an extra power socket next to the desk would be appreciated. It had also a window overlooking to the canal, which was nice. The breakfast was good, offering good variety, even though I had some trouble ordering (see my comment below).

In general, there were no major issues, so nothing to worry about. Out of secondary issues, the main one was that there was essentially no reception and it was hard to get in touch in-person with the staff in order to ask questions (if needed). This resulted in me missing a breakfast and I wasn't able to ask someone for it (I was in a rush and didn't bother getting in touch via email/messaging). Also, there was a false alarm ringing at some point, which led us out of the hotel for several minutes, and it took some time until someone came to shut it down.

This was a such super hotel for our needs! It is located in a very quaint, authentic and typical Amsterdam building plus it’s nice and centrally located for a whole range of attractions (e.g. Magere Bruge), shops, bars and restaurants. It’s a 30 minute stroll from Centraal station but you can also get tram 4 if you prefer, although we generally enjoyed walking everywhere. Our twin room was fabulous, we really appreciated the small table and two chairs, and it was cleaned daily with fresh towels as required. As other reviewers note, the stairs are also typical Amsterdam style (!) more akin to ladders than stairs. But this is completely manageable if, like us, you just have cabin-sized bags. The price value ratio is excellent for Amsterdam.

The location is fantastic, very convenient. The breakfast was very good with warm croissants fresh from the bakery. The staff person was extremely friendly and helpful.

There were some very loud people in the hall in the middle of the night, but of course, this wasn’t the fault of the hotel.

The staff were lovely and the location is excellent. It’s on a beautiful street and walking distance to most attractions. There are also restaurants, pubs, bakery and supermarket nearby. And the tram station is just steps away. The building is charming and has a lot of steep stairs. That was not a problem for me but if someone has mobility issues, it will be difficult for them. I loved my little single room with a view of the trees and canal. I was very comfortable in the room but if you are a larger person you might feel the bed and shower stall to be too narrow. I really liked that they let you keep your baggage downstairs after checkout and there’s also a small bathroom that is available for guests to use. They will provide you with the entry code so you have easy access to your bags and the bathroom after you hand in your keys.

After taking a shower, there would be some water on the floor around the toilet which did not easily drain on its own. There was s small short handled sqeegee provided so you can use it to push the water to the drain. This was not a huge problem but it was something I did not expect. The area directly under the shower drains very well. It’s just when the water travels towards the toilet, it can’t come back easily on its own.

We fell in love with the charm and cleanliness of Amsterdam. Highly recommend the Captain Jack open boat canal tour leaving near the Rijksmuseum. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The triple for our 3 teens was a nice space/layout. It was wonderful having a mini refrigerator in each room. Breakfast in the breakfast room was good. Very nice they allowed us to store luggage after checkout and even allowed my husband to stay in the breakfast room after checkout to work on his laptop while the teens and I went for a bike ride. Extremely close to the Tram 4 line from Amsterdam Centraal station -- no need to buy advanced tickets for their tram system unless you want an all day or 1 hour pass. If you just want a single-use pass, just swipe your debit, credit or Apple Pay as you get on and off the tram. You're charged a 1.08 Euro boarding fee and then 0.196 Euros per km traveled. It only cost us a couple Euros per person to get to Hotel Prinsenhof but you much have a separate card or Apple Pay for each member of your party so the system can track each person getting on and off. Tickets to the Anne Frank house only come available once a week for the upcoming six weeks and are soldout very quickly. We didn't end up getting them. :( The Corrie Ten Boom house in nearby Haarlem is a faith-based tour of a Christian home that hid Jews but it also gets booked up 2 to 3 months in advance.

Be aware it's a steep set of stairs to the main floor. There appeared to be an interior hook & pulley system that would have taken our bags from there to the upper floors but the checkin person appeared to be new and wasn't sure about it.

I would have loved to stay longer at this little hotel, but my stay was only for the night. I arrived on a rainy Sunday evening with reception already closed, but pickup of my key from the café opposite went very smoothly and I was also greeted with a lovely letter by Anna "checking me in". The upstairs climb into the hotel and up to my room was a bit of a challenge, but that's genuine Amsterdam architecture for you. My room was decorated in a lovely green tone and almost too cosy for my brief stay. I felt bad I had to leave for an event straight away. The location was excellent with a tram stop in front of the door and nearby restaurants that still served food at 2 am when I returned and felt a little hungry. In the morning, I had to leave very early, so I can't say anything about breakfast. Given the overall impression of this hotel, I'm pretty sure it must have been fine.

All good, but check tram times the night before, if you need to catch an early train, as the intervals are pretty large.

Hotel Prinsenhof Amsterdam went above and beyond to ensure we had a remarkable stay! This is a gem in a remodeled canal home, with so much charm and comfort. Basic but everything we needed. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and enjoyed 4 nights in an exceptional place. The breakfast is delicious and includes hot foods and baked goods, fruit and yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice, and more. The bed was super comfortable, the room had ample space, great bathroom too, the location is quiet but so close to public transport (Tram line 4), along with lovely canal walk to Magere Brug. To be on the Prinsengracht for 4 days was a dream come true! Walking distance to great local restaurants, Albert Heijn grocery, bars, and close enough to museums and parks. Warm and welcoming staff. We loved our time there. An excellent overall four nights at Hotel Prinsenhof! We hope to return again soon.

Be aware of the stairs. It's a typical Dutch steep stair walkup from the front door to your room, but we really appreciated how helpful the staff was, and they offered to lift our luggage upstairs with the hook. If you are on the first level up by the breakfast room, it's only 1 flight of stairs. Not accessible for wheelchairs. If you are physically able, this is a great spot.

The staff was nice and helpful from the minute we got there, they also have a registration sheet for the breakfast and bring it to your room, which is very nice. We have a lovely room with a nice canal view, which was amazing for our first time in Amsterdam. The location is amazing, very near the city center, we always walked to Dam Plaza or took the tram if there was some hail.

One of the windows didn't close properly and it had a slight wind flow, since we were at -2 Celsius it was a bit inconvenient but nothing major. Also, although we saw the pictures, we didn't realize the tiny steps you need to climb to get to your room, later we found out that this is the typical architecture of the city.

nice location, and very friendly hotel staff that helped me with my situation - I came early for a real check-in and had to spend the entire day at an event, but I have received the key for my room and could access the hotel though I came back after 23:00. I could store my back in the hotel. Everyone was very helpful. since it is a nice old house, one should consider that the windows cannot be replaced with super-isolated (and mostly ugly ones) - so you can hear people outside, but it is not a negative point for me.
