The hotel is a short Metro ride (15 minutes) from Centraal station, then about 10 minutes walk from the Metro station, so quite convenient if you're planning on being out for most of the day but want somewhere fairly close to town and don't mind a bit of a walk. The suites are roomy, with a double bed and a sofabed that converts into a double, so good for a family or small group of friends, and good value for money in that case. The kitchenette has a microwave, kettle, fridge and dishwasher, so good for breakfast and if you want to bring back a takeaway. There are USB ports above the plug sockets near the bed, so easy to charge your devices. The suites are in a separate building to the main hostel, so nice and quiet. Staff are helpful, efficient and friendly.
The food in the restaurant is fine, but nothing special - pizzas and fried snacks. Fine if you want a quick and cheap meal, but as the bar/restaurant is right next to the games area, it can get noisy. The electricity in the room is powered by the key card, so you can't keep the appliances running when you're out. There is Netflix on the TV, but the one in my room wasn't a compatible browser (although it was in my friends' room). Some watchouts: on the pricing information on booking.com it says that city tax is included, but this is not the case and you will need to pay this when you check-in (but this is a small amount). You will also need to pay a refundable deposit of 100 Euros, but this is refunded after they have inspected the room after check-out.

As a couple the via suites were absolutely perfect for us! the room was great with plenty of space and an amazing shower. Have seen a few previous comments about the location but it’s only a 10 minute walk to the metro / train station with regular services for both. Both the metro and train were cancelled one day due to construction work and it was no bother getting to Amsterdam Central. Yes you have to walk through uni campus but no bother doing so, such helpful staff and would come back in a heartbeat.
More of a constructive comment but we couldn’t turn the air con off so have both came home with sore throats but that’s a minor issue

The room was very nice, well laid out Clean and comfortable The whole hotel and suites had a great laid back vibe The building is in a good location very close to metro station and some great local cafes/ restaurants and a few shops are also nearby
No real negatives but the rooms could benefit from a full length mirror and would be an idea to supply a mini oven for cooking rather than a microwave and perhaps a toaster too

Great location 10 min from the metro. Friendly and helpful staff. Bedroom was very comfortable accompanied by a coffee machine and microwave. Served well all our needs.
The breakfast is very basic for the price. It does not even include a basket of fresh fruit such as bananas. Coffee machine only offers americano. Adding a bit more variety would already elevate it and feel the price worth it. If we had known before buying we would have just gotten the english breakfast from the bar. Sad some of the games in the common area had to be paid for given the high accommodation price...

Great location (close to train+metro station, supermarket), helpful and kind staff (we had a broken shower tab - they fixed it fast), good separation of the hostel and the suites, practical room design (not big, but doesn’t feel small), comfy beds, daily refill of coffee capsules, fridge, great view (room 435), cinema in the lobby!
The most ridiculous and inconvenient aircon system ever (you can adjust temperature +/- 3 degrees, but not sure compared to what (outside?!), we had cold wind and turned on heat (in July) the same night, until we removed the electricity card, which thankfully stopped it), dust (come on, please use a vacuum cleaner!), outside noises (we had some drumming, saxophone and machine sound from outside, but raindrops are also quite audible).

Cleanliness, layout of the room that includes a kitchen and living room, metro, convenience store very close, good breakfast, comfy bed
room key issuing system doesn't work properly so people need to wait for a long time, some of the other guests contaminate the food and drink at breakfast (one guest put her hand in the muesli jar, another touched the bread with bare hands many times) and leave used glasses and dishes together with the unused ones, all of the tables were dirty at breakfast when we arrived (at 10 and at 8) so an occasional wipe of the tables would be nice or at least some paper towels and cleaning solution to do it yourself

Room was lovely easy to access. Bed was comfy. Great shower. Bike hire was great and easy to use.
Way too small for 3 adults. A bit far from the city but bike hire + Uber worked well. The staff are not the most helpful. There is a lot of self check in spots but if you have an issue or need help you could wait up to 30 minutes for assistance. Only 2 washers and dryers for a huge amount of backpackers and hotel guests which made it hard, waited for hours to get in to wash our own clothes. No cash on site so had to get coins from a convenience shop which isn’t very close by…

The staff at the reception were exceptionally good, and were always very friendly and helpful. In particular, on the second night of our stay, the heating in the room was malfunctioning, and became uncontrollably hot, at 26.3 C. and rising. When I called the reception, Raquim / Rakeem (?) came to our room within 5 minutes, and he found us another room, since the maintenance person was not on the premises. Raquim / Rakeem was very polite, and he made sure we were set up in the new room before he left. Both rooms were very spacious, with a lot of natural light, and the mattress in the second room was also very firm comfortable. The mattress in the first room, however, was overly soft and saggy, and should probably be replaced. I also liked the quiet in our building, so we were able to sleep really soundly. The hotel is very close to the train station (5-6 minute walk), and the trains go directly into the center of Amsterdam in about 15 minutes, plus there are also some very nice restaurants and a big supermarket in the same area where the train station is located. Finally, I think the value for the money is good.
The kitchenette could have been better: it did not have a proper coffee maker, i.e., one that makes drip coffee, and there were no sponges, towels, or dishwashing liquid in the room, so we had to buy our own. Also, even though we had dairy products and cut fruit in the refrigerator, the housekeeping were instructed to take the room key out of the socket near the door, so that all electricity was cut off when we were not in the room. I asked about this practice at the reception, and the staff person told me that this was part of the hotel's "sustainability" program. So, the hotel provides a refrigerator in the rooms, but then turns off the electricity when the occupants are not in the room. This seems rather strange to me.

Firstly the staff are amazing, they helped us rearrange our suite so all the boys (5) can stay in one room. The staff did their up most to ensure our stay was comfortable. Unfortunately I've forgotten the names of two members of staff in particular that went beyond to make sure everything was to our needs. But the team in general are great.
It's location is a little way from the city centre but the train links to and from and easy enough, plus getting to the airport was equally easy. There's a few restaurants in walking distance that are really good. Shame the pool table in the hotel wasn't up and running.

Everything about via was excellent from the staff being so helpful to the room being the perfect layout. The location is preferred by us cause we have young kind and staying at via was able to give us the breaks they needed away from the busy city streets. Via is just prefect for us as a family when we go away, this was our first stay with via, for sure it will not be our last!!
If I had to pick one thing it would be the sofa bed. My reason for this is that my 15 year old is a larger girl and she struggled to let her brother, who is 8, have room on the bed at the same time. This was the only thing we didn't like.
