The location was perfect, we were visiting family so being central was vital. Hotel is right in the heart of everything with lots around. Market day was lovely and worth a visit if you like fresh produce. Few museums around Ten Boom being one, but unfortunately, we didn't book, so I couldn't visit as was full until sept, so plan ahead, same with Ann Frank's in Amsterdam. Haarlem, a great base to visit surrounding towns and cities like Amsterdam and Utrect as transport links are great. The hotel is a 5 min walk from a bus stop and train station only 10 min..if that walk. Hotel bed was one of the best hotel beds I've slept on. The room has a ceiling fan and a floor fan, which was a bonus as was quite warm. Was nice not setting an alarm during our stay, so with the heavy curtains that kept the light out which helped recharge batteries and have a few long awaited lie ins. Overall great hotel and location.

Only downside to hotel room, was there was no fridge in the room to store juices etc.

Friendly, super helpful staff, comfy beds, good hot buffet breakfast (veggie options too) and a great location within touching distance of the stunning meadeaeivil church (with resident peregrine falcon) and pedestrianised square. Very clean hotel. It felt very safe, staffed 24/7. I'd visit again, any time! Thanks for an amazing week.

This isn't a downside...as the heart of any pedestrianised square, lined with restaurants, brings the buzz of cafe life in the evenings. Personally, I loved overlooking the square, hearing life go on, the tunes of the bells (they only ring til 9pm) and sounds of the bustling market. I'd come back any time - to that same room, same stunning view! If you want a quieter room, just ask.

The breakfast buffet was great. Service was wonderful.

The problems were mostly about the bathroom. Whoever decided to install the toilet too close to the shower glass made a mistake because there is no room for a person's knees. Also, perhaps one of those clothes drying cables would be helpful. And, we did not know that we were supposed to clean our coffee cups which would gladly have done, maybe you should have an information sheet in the room so others will know without having to ask. It would have been nice to know instead of finding out from the staff.

This was a very convenient hotel well placed for Central Haarlem attractions and canals. It was good value for money.

It was made up of rooms across several buildings which meant many ups and downs from level to level down numerous corridors, even if using the lift (elevator) which only served one level. The weather was very hot and there was no air conditioning, only a fan. This would have been OK if we could have kept the windows open, but the noise from the restaurants below was of high intensity. It could be very successfully reduced by use of the double glazing it is true, but only at the expense of rather stifling heat in the room. I heard other customers complain of the same problem. Clearly this would not be a problem in cooler weather.

The location was excellent, just a short 10 minute walk from the train station, or an easy 15-20 minute taxi ride from the airport. The room was clean, with plenty of electrical outlets at the desk. An outlet near the nightstands would have been nice. The breakfast was ok, but not great. Comparing against other hotels in the same neighborhood, its not the best and certainly not the worst. Arriving early on a Monday, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in to my room. That was VERY welcome. The restaurant adjacent/adjoined to the hotel, but is a separate business (can't charge to your room), had a great flank steak and a good selection of beer. This is also where the breakfast was offered.

I thought that it was strange that there were several 'soft spots' in the hallway on the 3rd level. It was almost difficult to walk if you stepped into one of those spots. The eggs at the breakfast were dismal, but the sausages and bacon were quite good.

Excellent location at the market square near the cathedral. My room overlooked the square and cathedral which was amazing. The windows are huge, so the room was very bright. Big and very comfortable bed, all the needed facilities in the room. The room was cleaned daily. Helpful staff at the desk.

There are a lot of cafes and restaurants at the square, so it was very noisy till about 1am - people talking, laughing, the usual restaurants and bars noises. I did not mind, because I sleep well but some people might find it uncomfortable. Also bear in mind that clock bell at the cathedral bells at night as well - again I was happy about it but will be difficult for people with sensitive sleep.

Location is perfect. Very handy to most places in Haarlem. Our room was small and plain but the mattresses and pillows were really comfortable. We asked for a quiet room with a bit of a view of the church. We got room 508 and it was indeed quiet and there was a view of the church albeit from over rooftops. Bathroom was a decent size and had a good shower and a big sink. We had no shortage of hot water and housekeeping kept the rooms very clean. Reception staff were friendly and not intrusive. We had the buffet breakfast one morning and it was reasonable value as prices have definitely gone up in the area and it’s a cost effective way to fill yourself up for a large part of the day. Good selection of cereals and yoghurts, cold cuts etc with plenty of bread available. There were also hot food options such as crispy bacon, frankfurters, scrambled egg, baked beans, frankfurters, veggie bites. The surroundings in the Governor Bar/Restaurant were also easy on the eye. To sum up, there are probably bigger, flashier rooms etc in other hotels but probably at a higher rate. We got everything we needed at The Ambassador and at a good price. We would definitely return.

Super location. Helpful staff. Buffet breakfast with nice selection too. We had dinner there twice and it was really good. The nachos are absolutely fab! Our room literally opened out on to the roof - room 601. Fantastic views of the cathedral, especially at night. Lovely walk in shower. We would definitely stay here again.

The room could do with a lick of paint but in fairness with all or luggage, it is understandable that it is a little scuffed - it wouldn’t stop us recommending it to friends.

The location was 100% amazing. friendly Staff Great RestoBar to chill out Easy to find, and in the heart of the city, close to restaurants and bars. Good views and easy to find your way to where you wanna go.

Had booked one room, it was really nice at first glance, but first night was freezing cold in it, second day they had to move me to another room because the bathroom was leaking into the lobby, the new room had heating yeiiii, it had the same standards as my previous one, except I lost a bathtub for a shower. Would have loved some breakfast vouchers or some kind of mild compensation to use in the facilities just for the inconvenience of the first day and for having to pack and move to another room, but nothing. Still, had an amazing experience and the Hotel is worth it

On 1st stay the room was comfly and clean. It was to the back and quiet mostly. Except on Friday night it was a pop up club. But that ended promptly at mid night. On our next stay a week later we were on floor 1 directly above the front pub, the Governor. The view was amazing of the Church in the center,

Noise out front, it's midnight and still going. I have a morning flight.....The party rumble lasted into the late hours. not very accommodating to rest. :- Perhaps some soundproofing of the front windows
