The hotel is located close to the German border at the town of vaals, There are bakeries, supermarkets, giftshops, and a lot sof restaurants near by. Straight up hill is the three borders point (25 min walking, 5 min by car). The hotel is clean the staff is very nice. There is a private parking 2 minutes away from the hotel by foot.

Although not mentioned, I expected the room to some kind of a hot drinks means. You can't make your favourite tea of coffee. Could have at least expected a small electric kettle. There is an espresso machine in the first floor, but... In addition, there was no refrigerator. It should be noted that the hotel manager was kind enough to let me store my food in the fridge of the restaurant below.

We were walking the Dutch Mountain Trail and the location was very close to the trail. The welcome was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable and big and a very fair price. We were surprised that the restaurant was greek, the menu being excellent and a welcome ouzo didn't go amiss! The restaurant and hotel staff were all personable. The continental breakfast was very good to send us on our way. Apart from being close to our walk, local shops and bars were on the doorstep.

* Breakfast, while sufficient & a good price, could benefit with better advertising as it is done a little differently to other accommodations within the region. For an additional 7.50 EUR, it consists of two baguettes (made to order), yoghurt/honey, small fruit (2x strawberries in my case), boiled egg, orange juice and tea/coffee.

This was our only hotel stay during the trip, and it was nice to stay at a family hotel. It was also nice to have our only buffet breakfast of the trip. We stayed in Zimmer 3, which had a small separate room for the children, which was really helpful. Finally, it was interesting to see pictures in the attached restaurant (same owners) of the street (including the hotel) in the pre-Schengen era. There used to be a border crossing only a block away!

Very nice and clean family room for 4 persons. There is a popular greek restaurant downstairs, so book a dinner reservation before you arrive in the popular summer weeks. The hotel owner is very nice and helpful. There are shops and supermarkets few meters away.

There are a lot of stairs to the room, but it was not a problem for us. It could be for others.

Nice little hotel, relatively quiet for being close to the main street. There is a greek restaurant downstairs which serves pretty tasty dishes!

Business travelers have to keep in mind that breakfast is served 8a.m. earliest. Alternatively, there's a bakery 100m down the street which opens at 6a.m.

Room and bathroom were spacious and modern, beds were comfy, everything was clean, there was a shared space with a coffee machine (1.25 per drink) and games, close to supermarket and many restaurants.

Not very environmentally friendly: Heating was on 22 degrees when we came in and soap came in small plastic packets for single use.

Easy checkin and very clean and comfy accommodation. The owner was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, in town yet close to trails. We would return to Hotel Vallis and recommend it to others.

Super friendly and helpful welcome, huge room with great views over the high-street of Vaals and super clean. Having just cycled 260 km's, a good shower followed by a good meal were very welcome. The restaurant is Greek with a great ambiance. We took the menu of the day and it was absolutely delicious ... I'd go back just for that ! Morning breakfast and checkout were both perfect. Brilliant stay. A great end to a very long day. The owner and staff were wonderful ... very many thanks ! Definately a 10/10 from us.

There was nothing not to like. It was great. It was really humid and we had a huge summer storm, so kept the windows open which meant we heard some of the road noise at night, but with hindsight we could have closed the windows and turned the airco up, but I prefer fresh air. The people, facilities, food were all perfect.

I arrived late in the evening and was welcomed with a big smile and hospitality that 5 star hotels can only strive for. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Haven't tried the breakfast but judging by the crowd in the restaurant on a Monday evening the food must be great as well. There are bakeries within 2 minute walking distance and several shops. Absolutely recommended.
