Half Moon Bay Motel

Great location close to the marina, and nice, spacious, clean unit, with privacy for two friends travelling together and good facilities. Pleasant surroundings and parking right outside which was important as I have limited mobility. We found a great, very reasonably priced fish and chip shop at Farm Cove Takeaways which we intended to take down to Buckland Beach but we couldn't find a way to access it by car (which we needed due to my mobility issues), so we found a spot by the Macleans Park instead.

The fan in the room wasn't sufficiently effective to keep me cool enough at night (we were there in January, so it was hot), and it was a bit noisy - the unit would really benefit from a heatpump with cooling/aircon, or a more effective plug-in airconditioning unit.

Half Moon Bay Motel exceeded our expectations. The place was very large and comfortable and had a kitchen and fridge with a lovely out door seating facing the sea. The beds were comfortable and there was a nice divider between our sons bed and our bed with a large seating area. We loved how quiet it was with no road noise and there was a lovely view of the sailing harbour. Everything we needed was walking distance to walking boardwalk, cafes, grocery stores, restaurants and the sea! I even found a post office beside the cafes. A wonderful getaway for our family. We will definitely stay again.

Great location, 2 minutes walk to the marina and shopping centre from your room(The motel is open to the marina carpark at the back). Great restaurants, amazing food. Countdown, chemist etc Water pressure was good, bathroom a little tried. Very quiet spot for all that was around it. Summer maybe different but as a winter place to stay, I would stay again

No, heat pump just an oil heater. Made sure to leave on when out, to warm the room but only kept the chill off. No bed side tables, moved main table to put the phone, water bottle etc on. Stayed three nights, had to ask for fresh towels ! Not a place I would bring small children too, open to the water, streets in every direction!

The location was excellent. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room lacked storage space. There were no places to put our clothes so we left everything in our suitcases. It's not so great for a 3 week stay. One week into our 3 week I found out I had to check out one day earlier than originally planned. They refused my request to change the checkout date and told me I would have to pay for that day.

The perfect holiday destination . We loved everything from location that's close to the amazing restaurants, the supermarket , beach , great space for kids to play and ride their bikes on the board walk . But the best part of all was the friendly staff where nothing was a problem. They let us check in early as we had a wedding to attend. The room was huge , had plenty of space for our family and a kitchen that provided all our needs.

We were able to take our cat as we were travelling up from the South Island to the North Island to take her to the airport cattery before emigrating abroad. The beds were super comfy, the room was clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating, the location was fairly good, but we drove so it was easy for us to get around.

There were some noisy neighbours, this is not in the owners power I know but just to be aware of this that earplugs may be a good idea!

The room was spacious. The shower was good. The kitchenette with a microwave and toaster was good. This was in a separate room to the sleeping area. Free carparking was available and it was adjacent to the marina and a walkway to Little Bucklands Beach and the ferry to Auckland. Restaurants and bars were close by. The staff were friendly. We would stay here again.

The room was extremely hot at night and the fan did nothing to cool the room down. There were two wine glasses but no drinking glasses. The rubbish bins by the accessway were smelly. The room was tired with the curtain rail no longer attached to the wall and the bottom of the curtains were mouldy. The bathroom window was either closed or fully open - probably needs new stays. I would suggest looking at the fire alarm. It may be too close to the ceiling.

The staff are always kind, courteous and helpful. They are very accomodating if the circumstances allow. Checkin is easy. The area is beautiful and peaceful. The marina is so nice to stroll around day and night with the lighting. Sunsets were pretty too. There are some real top quality restaurants, a fresh choice supermarket and chemist a very short stroll from the Motel. The Motel is newly renovated and the bed as comfy as mine at home. Sheets were clean and crisp.

Super close to the marina and short walk to the beach. Incredibly convenient. Shops, bars and eateries so close. The staff are super relaxed and friendly. So rare to have a dog friendly place too. Didn’t realise it had a laundry and was really handy. Must have recently done some refurbishments, parts were more modern and newer than expected.

The original doors are a bit old and stiff.

Despite the slightly tired look of this motel on arrival, the rooms are of an excellent quality - clean, well equipped and the bathrooms look like they have been updated recently. A pleasant surprise. The location is excellent for the ferries to the islands and downtown Auckland, the harbour is lovely, lots of great restaurants around and lovely beachside walks.
