Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre, an IHG Hotel

I loved the convenience (just a street away from Queen Street/everything central), the room I was given had a nice view, I was able to adjust the room temperature every time, the bed was comfortable, the facilities were great, the convertible bathroom and shower by just one door was unique, I enjoyed the free access to the gym and breakfast buffet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I also loved how they emphasised water conservation regarding towel usage.

There was always a ticking noise every night located near the top shelf above the clothes rack and in my first night it lasted for so long, not sure what that was. I was also slightly confused about the door signs because I had cleaners go in my room when I didn't put up a sign but they never came to clean the room when I hung the "Housekeeping Please" door sign side.

Clean and great location within walking distance of the Auckland waterfront/shops/hop on hop off bus. So nice to have the buffet breakfast in the morning with lots of variety including scrambled eggs, bacon (although the bacon was barely cooked), sausages, yogurt, fruit, cereal, and even pancakes.

The entrance to the lobby of the hotel is very strange and hard to find. We arrived at 2:00 in the morning and I actually don’t think we would have found the entrance if someone else hadn’t been coming out the door. I don’t even recall a name on the door which has the name of the hotel. Plus you have to take an escalator and then an elevator up to floor two before you even encounter a front desk. Additionally there was no cleaning of rooms etc during our three night stay. I get tired of the “lack of staff” excuse hotels use to not do the daily room maintenance such as emptying garbage/making beds etc. Just a major cost saving measure in my opinion.

the breakfast was great, every morning we looked forward to the breakfast. Location is great. staff absolutely lovely aswell. nice and modern.

Do not stay here if you are staying in one room with a friend or colleague the bathrooms are not private at all. luckily I was with my husband. if you choose to shower at night and even during the day you can see the person in the shower. silly design. Also we had big lovely windows but none we could open. Although there is aircon the room was sooo stuffy with no natural breeze/air. Aircon also is on a timer and through the night I had to get up and turn it back on. it would be terrible during summer season.

The Breakfast was really good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great. Some people like really firm beds but we found it a little too firm, this is the only thing I could point out negatively.

The location was super convenient. 24 hour service was very easy and the breakfast was good. They easily accommodated us for 1 extra night keeping the same room. Was clean and convenient.

Stay was fine honestly - if had to nitpick, at times, there wouldn’t be consistent staff and they didn’t seem to take notes regarding our booking. So we were slightly concerned that more complicated things like the extra night might not work (especially since we booked a cheaper rate through Booking.com). But they were very accommodating and we didn’t come up against any problems.

Very friendly staff. The price for 2 rooms, 8 guest breakfast included was awesome and the breakfast was amazing!! Easy walking distance to sky city where we parked our vehicle for free🙂

No designated smoking area on-site.😁 I'm not too keen on lifts and being on the 18th floor was a challenge but I suppose if I had a room on lower floor it would have been better. Billing system needs to be simpler I made payment on arrival and on Check out they had no record of my payment lucky I had my eftpos receipt as it hadnt been entered into their system at the time of payment made, the staff were very apologetic as they were also unable to refund my bond due to the clich but they assured me it would be refunded...that's still pending. They definitely need a photocopier.

Location was excellent, as were the breakfasts.

Room fridge was a standard Holiday Inn Express mini, not big enough. Staff at breakfast were run off their feet and some were not very professional but trying hard. Counter staff could do with training. It would be nice to have all free to air tv channels.

Professional & Friendly Staff at Front Desk, Warm Greetings, Quick & Easy Check In, Comfortable Bed, Great Location.

We booked the King Room with a city view on the 17th floor, but unfortunately, our window was obstructed by nearby buildings, allowing us to see residents and guests from neighboring buildings instead. The extra fee we paid for the view was definitely not worth it. Additionally, there were numerous hairs on the bathroom floor when we first arrived in the room. Our bed was not made properly on the first day, although the towels were changed, even though we had hung them to promote environmental care. Due to these issues, we opted not to use the housekeeping service for the remainder of our stay.

Our recent stay at this hotel was overall pleasant, with just a minor inconvenience of no parking. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and we were quickly directed to our room. The room itself was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The complimentary breakfast was a nice addition and offered a good selection of options to start the day. Despite this, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience was positive. If you don't mind the inconvenience of finding parking, this hotel offers comfortable accommodations and a good breakfast selection for your stay in Auckland.

Close to everything. GOOD buffet breakast is included. Awesome views of Auckland city from my room and Sky Tower is just in front of us. Easy check in and checkout Value for money. Got early check in and late check out. Had 3 excellent nights of sleep as beds were comfortable and no noise at all at the heart of the city as we were on the 18th floor. Definitely will recommend.

The coffee, milk was not topped up after 1st night and gym was basic with some cardio machines. Not a big deal as I'm a member of City Fitness which is just a walk down the road. Overall stay was EXCELLENT.
