The staff member whilst off duty watched for our arrival and then tended to taking us to our room . Her charm was there again the next morning in the breakfast room I will fully recommend

Nothing to dislike

This property is basically brand new. Everything was fabulous right down to the size of the room with was giving to us as a complementary upgrade. We were also given a complimentary late checkout. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager. She was so helpful and even recommended a restaurant for dinner which had simply amazing food. The shower had a rain feature head as well as the normal shower head! This was fabulous! Comfortable beds! Well equipped kitchenette! Parking on site! I can’t recommend enough! Just fantastic!

Booked a family suite with two bedrooms- quite clean, spacious and comfortable. Location was good. The hotels offers all kinds of disposable consumables, such as slippers and toothbrushes etc. facilities are good and I especially liked the hair drier and kettle.

There was a weird armpit smell in the room - I requested to change a room but the reception said there isn’t same kind of room available any more, and they could only downgrade me to some other room type. However, they refuse to supplement me the price difference which is around 100dollars per night, saying it’s not the hotel’s fault. I eventually denied the change, but it feels unpleasant. The smell is even stronger when I tried to heat up the stove.

Only a couple minutes drive from University of Canterbury and within walking distance of shops and eateries. All the convenience of a motel (off street parking close to rooms) that feels like a high end hotel - there were even robes and slippers in the wardrobe! It's not always easy to find accommodation with 2 big beds in a room (we were moving my son into Uni so he stayed with us the first night) but the Golden Hotel was a find! Walk-in rain shower in the fully tiled bathroom was beautiful and luxurious.

There was one grumpy employee but the very friendly manager who guessed my name at check-in made up for his grumbling about storing a bike for us overnight, which they kindly arranged. ;)

We stayed two nights in this lovely hotel and it was such a pleasure and a pleasant surprise! The staff was extraordinarily nice and always welcoming and kind. The hotel is quite new and perfectly maintained. The rooms are clean with heaps of amenities (lots of face towels, for example). There's also a very large Westfield shopping centre within a walking distance (15 minutes by foot). In the lobby there's an excellent cafe that serves great coffee and food as well. There's a carpark with ample space and free street parking nearby. Overall, we were very happy to stay here and will most definitely come back again!

While the location of the hotel is not perfect, there is a bus station 20 m from the entrance door which connected us to the city centre (10-15 minutes).

Very comfortable and well furnished room. Conveniently located near food stores, so many restaurants (Korean, Indian, Chinese and many more ), walking distance to Westfield shopping center. They also have a restaurant onsite which is very nice. Room service was quite nice. It was great to have Netflix. Room was ultra modern and comfortable, bed was great. Bathroom and kitchen facilities were very modern, new and awesome. Shower was lovely. The staff are ridiculously great and very accommodating. Sounds too good to be true but I don't have single bad thing to say!!!!

Absolutely fantastic motel! Extremely clean, kitchenette, comfortable beds. The cafe in the lobby is really great, with excellent customer service. We only stayed for one night between arriving in Christchurch and picking up our camper van, but we would absolutely stay again. The staff was so helpful in providing a late checkout so that we could bring the camper van to the motel to pack up instead of hauling everything to the rental office. This is a motel, not a resort hotel, as a motel it is a 10/10! Couldn’t have asked for better amenities!

It was a great location, the facility was very good.

The parking seemed to be a problem with operators as it was conducted off but you were allowed to move them which you had to every time you wanted to park. The staff obviously live on site and had doors open to their room and they were pretty messy, There was a very angry man in the car park and generally helping about the place, but unfortunately he's was a very bad advertisement for the complex. Can't be sure but I believe it was him that got happy drunk and then angry drunk in his room at night and Madd a he'll of a noise.

Fantastic hotel and incredible rooms and service. A true 100 / 100. Beautiful hotel, great management. Quality is one of the best I have expereinced across 100 different nights across Christchurch from 3 star to 5 star. Better than anything else in Christchurch market. Really an international level 5 star and up there with Park Hyatt in Auckland for rooms except the cafe on site here is much better than Park Hyatt in Auckland and price is much more reasonable. Simply put ~ best hotel in Christchurch ~ best rooms, best beds, bathroom and best management

New Hotel (as of 11.04.2022) Nice welcome gift (2x free packet of chips & 2x free Whitakers chocolate bar) Fast free Wifi Large room (I believe I got upgraded in room category, not sure if this applies to all rooms) Good Kitchen facilities (quiet new fridge that did not make noise when trying to sleep!)

Floor could have been a little cleaner (previous guest must have spilled something stick in the Kitchen). The "desk" in the room is an awkward design. People my height will hurt their knees on a metal bar.
