I want to give the manager/owner of this Motel a compliment. We were traveling through the South of England and wanted to book a hotel in Christchurch. The next day I found out that I made a mistake. I booked 2 nights in Christchurch New Zealand. How clumsy can one be. I am very surprised that the manager of this accommodation could laugh about my clumsiness and only charged me one night in stead of two. Thank you so much and if we ever come to New Zealand I will book for sure in Metropolitan Motel :)

The Metropolitan Motel is in an ideal location. A stone's throw from Riccarton Mall & close to restaurants & bars, this motel suited the wife & I just fine. My wife is a "Shop-a-holic" & being near the biggest shopping mall in Christchurch was a real bonus. As for me, we were a few kilomrteres from Riccarton Racecourse & Addington Raceway. That's the main reason we stayed in Riccarton was because of the New Zealand Cups in both the gallops & trots As it turned out we were closer to all the action than if we stayed a few kilometres away in Central Christchurch & the cost of Hotels/Motels is a lot cheaper in Riccarton than Christchurch CBD . So if you want to be on a guaranteed winner stay at Riccarton.

Couldn't fault the Metropolitan Motel, parking at door, close to shops & Racecourses

Compact two-bedroom with everything we needed. Well organized and super clean. Beds are very comfy too. You can tell the owners have every attention to details. The location is very convenient within walking distance to Westfield for shopping and food. We enjoyed the spa tub too. It did come with kitchen facilities although we didn't get to use them Also, Marco is super friendly and helpful, even offered to help with my kids laundry. This was the first two we stayed at a motel. It absolutely surpassed our expectations. Two kids even commented in their view that this was by far the best stay out of our 2-week trip around the south island of New Zealand (We did stay at some expensive resorts and holiday homes along the way). Overall a very pleasant stay for 3 nights for the whole family. We will not hesitate to come back and stay there again. Highly recommended.

Nothing that we didn't like

The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. All facilities were there that I could have wanted including microwave, iron, hairdryer, tv etc. The coffee plunger with sachet of coffee was nice. Free cookies with the tea/coffee.

The location was a little further from town than I would have preferred, but it was on a main road and easy to navigate into the CBD. The room was upstairs with no lift. Milk was just in the little sachets rather than a half litre container. There was no shower cap and soap and shampoo were in dispensers, so no freebies.

The hosts were welcoming, helpful, & accommodating. The space was well-sized and well-appointed, with everything we could need in bedroom, kitchen & bathroom.

On the second night we had to ask other guests to please keep quiet, as a group gathered in the courtyard between their room & ours to ‘party’ with loud voices & music. I spoke with them about 10.15pm, after which they obliged & went indoors. I informed them of our need to sleep in preparation for an early morning flight.

Very clean, located 50 metres from Riccarton Mall. The room was perfect and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone

Limited sky sports channels. No Sky Sports channel 54 to watch the Warriors beat Newcastle. I watched it on sky go via my laptop.

Great manager. The shuttle collecting us from Christchurch International Airport dropped us off at the wrong motel. We rang our booked motel to ask for directions and the manager/owner came and picked us up. Such great service. He also arranged a taxi for us for the next morning’s departure. Comfortable and quiet 1 bedroom apartment with cooking facilities.

The information from the owner regarding the taxi from airport was important! Take note from what he tells you as I didn’t !! I got a company with a rip off merchants who charged 50.00. The Uber the next morning back to the airport was half the price! When I arrived, the room was warm, lights on, a soft drink on bench, filtered coffee. Really happy with venue

Excellent location, easy to get to from airport, spa bath great and shower awesome pressure. Bed very comfortable.I was late back one night and it was chilly but they had kindly closed the curtains and left a light on for me so my room was nice and cozy when I got back!

I mistakenly thought I had booked a room with an outside terrace but totally my fault. The room was excellent anyway

The house was daylit and naturally ventilated with windows open. Very homely feel. Short walking distance to supermarket, mall and McD's, yet quiet at night for rest. Also walking distance to farmer's market.

The kitchen could do with more appliances and perhaps more complete set of cutlery as we had to mix and match for our group of 5. There were also some instructions on cooking smell so we were quite conscious of that.
