The room is very spacious, clean and comfortable. Nice kitchenette and well lit bathroom are a plus. Laundry facility also available. The real detraction however is that the motel is located very far away from city center so be prepared to spend extra money hiring cabs or Uber to take you to and from sites. There are no restaurants near by - it's located off busy street which is not suitable for walking. I did see a bus stop nearby but reception is not regularly staffed so support is not available for navigating the city other than what you can do on your own.

The hotel is well suited for someone with a car. It very far from the city center and walking is really not an option. There are no restaurants nearby as well. The lady on the desk greeted us with a smile and was very friendly despite having had to stay late to check us in after train delayed, and the room was well set up with everything we needed. We only had flying visit and was almost sorry we didn't have longer as would have been a good base to explore from.

Nothing I can think of. I'm not sure about location as we went straight there from train station (easy walk) to airport (easy bus journey) the following morning so didn't get a sense of the area. It felt like we were on the edge of a commercial area and residential and not sure where the city centre was.

Very clean and comfortable. Having the ability to pause, rewind, and record on the Sky TV was a nice touch. The free parking right outside your door was great also.

A smart TV to watch streaming platforms on would have been nice. There was also a lack of storage for clothing, such as 2 hangers and no drawers. I had a wet room that would have benefitted from having a wet brush to clear the floor after a shower. There also wasn't a toilet brush.

Very modern interior. Within walking distance to Riccarton Mall, and all the food places along Riccarton Road. Good amenities, almost everything one needs for a comfortable stay.

Strangely no shower caddy/shelf in the shower, we had to put soap, shampoo on the floor. Minor inconvenience.

The facilities were extremely cleam and well presented. The staff very friendly on arrival and stored our bags for the day as we were too early for our room. Easy walk to Westfield and Tower Junction Station for our train trip to Greymouth. Firm bed but very comfortable and the shower pressure is fantastic.

The rooms were clean and the location was great. We only had one night here, however, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived by train from Greymouth and the motel was close enough to the station to be able to walk to the accommodation.

We had two rooms which were upstairs and being older people, we had to carry our cases up the stairs. We would have preferred all 3 rooms on the ground level.

Honestly gave up on ever getting a good motel in NZ but Golden Star Motel changes that whole idea. From the check-in, the staff was super friendly and helpful until the end of the stay when they allowed us a late checkout. The room is spacious and super clean. The location is not far from Christchurch central and overall just a great stay! Would recommend for couples and groups if you’re looking for a good accomodation.

The room was clean, there was an air conditioner, hot water in the shower, stove, refrigerator, cooking equipment, 2 sofas, and a small table. Wifi connection was great. Free parking on site. Checkout is very easy, just leave the key in the box at reception.

I was missing a cutting board in the kitchen. This was not an issue for us, but if your room is on the second floor there is no elevator, only stairs.

Modern studio access unit, very nicely furnished. We loved the shower. Overall the unit was very clean and was all we needed for our night's stay.

Small fridge was on the ground and for accessibility should be raised. We would prefer that shampoo, conditioner, bodywash etc., be put into refillable containers so we are not using little plastic bottles. Shower curtain needs washing and even with the extractor fan on, the bathroom got very steamed up.

Great motel. Very spacious and clean Modern motel and well fitted out. Close to railway for Tranz Alpine. Large shopping centre down the road. Self contained. East check in and friendly helpful staff on the desk.

One of the windows wouldn't close completely and let in a whistling wind. This needs attention. They tried to fix but whistled all night . Hard to sleep with that going on.
