The staff were friendly and efficient on check in and when I checked out. I could come and go when I liked for the whole stay. There is a carpark on site, Bar and Cafe in the vicinity. It wasn't expensive and clean. There is a bathroom attached to each dorm room. If you don't mind different people coming and going and feel safe, I had good roomies even though I was out early and back late 🥰

🤔🤔🤔 there wasn't anything to dislike..everything went well and my roomies were fine.

Very friendly staff and nice location. The benefit of the pub downstairs is that you down have a go somewhere else for a delicious guinness and something to eat, the downside is that it's a bit noisy at night when people are still having a drink outside. But they made sure people are more quiet after a certain time. Bed is a bit narrow, but comfy. Room was very clean Would definitely come back!

WiFi wasn't working, staff tried to fix it immediately and called the service, without success. It's not their fault and they were very eager to get it to work again, but that was a bit annoying during my stay

Really excellent value for the money. Absolutely no frills, nothing luxurious, but the room was more spacious than I expected for the amount I paid. I didn't spend time in the hostel area, but it looked like people were hanging out there and being friendly, so a good place to meet fellow travelers.

There's no AC, and it got warm at night in January. The walls were a bit thin so I could hear someone talking on the phone in the hallway. But for a hostel, it was much more tranquil than most. Nelson is a pretty sleepy town -- I had trouble finding a coffee shop that was open for breakfast on a Sunday. The bar/restaurant at Prince Albert is only open for dinner.

Great value for money, room was big enough, beds clean and comfortable. We had a private room with it's own bathroom which was good.

No air conditioning, a fan in the room might be helpful as the room was quite hot and stuffy, even at night so we had to leave a window open. Hot water took ages to come through in the bathroom, was starting to think there was no hot water (cold shower!) then started getting hot just as finishing shower. No way of making hot drinks in the room, have to go down to the shared kitchen, may be nice to have this option in the private rooms?

The staff were absolutely fantastic! Really helpful and a good chat. The common areas were great, there was foosball and hammocks and books and Netflix. All the guests there at the time were so nice and keen for a chat. It never got too rowdy and when the bar was busy it was quiet by 11pm. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.

The shower doesn't have a basin in the floor it just dips inward. Essentially water gets everywhere when you're not careful and most people aren't. Also someone stole my cookies from the kitchen :(

I had a nice stay at the Prince Albert in a shared 4-bed room. The common areas were very comfortable and clean and it was a good environment all around, with nice people to talk to. The wifi worked great everywhere. Having heaters in each room made the nights very comfortable and the showers were high pressure and had nice hot water. The carpark is quite spacious and very accessible from the rooms. The hostel is super close to the city centre, so it's great if you want to explore Nelson by foot!

The kitchen area was occasionally dirty, especially the sinks. This is not the hostel's fault (they actually did a very good job of cleaning everything come the morning), but I thought it worth noting. My card to enter the room stopped working at around 9 pm on my last night, which was inconvenient since I could only get in the room if someone was there to let me in.

Loved the location, easy to walk into town, up the hill to see the Centre of NZ, Christ Church Cathedral, Queens Gardens (although the Gardens were very disappointing). The room was small but comfortable with its own toilet, shower and basin, and towels. The bar was abuzz with locals, so this is a good sign. Staff were accommodating. Absolutely loved the Cafe next door. The food and coffee was delicious and the lovely ladies there were amazing. Thank you.

This would have to be one of the best backpackers we've stayed in! Great location, comfy bed and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved the restaurant and ate there twice!! Ghe place had a really good vibe and was a mixture of young backpackers and locals having a drink or meal.

Maybe the ensuite rooms could have a jug to save walking downstairs at night to get hot water for a drink.

Only really stopped here for a night and I was exhausted from a day at Abel Tasman, but it seems like a cool place. Very social thanks to the adjacent pub, and the dorms are all set up around a courtyard to maximise human interaction which is nice.

Nowhere to put stuff in shower so I slipped when trying to pick up shower gel (not their fault), power points not located in proximity to beds, no reading lights.

Nice four-people doom. The public area is right outside the dooms, which made it easier to make new friends. Very close to the hill with the sign of Centre of New Zealand. There is a bus stop nearby to go to The Brook area.

Some beds are a little bit far from the plugs.
