We have stayed at the Vila Gale several times. It is our favorite lodging in Braga. It continues to provide a comfortable, consistent experience. The location cannot be beat, it is right in the middle of the beautiful historic center, but always very quiet. It provides parking, which is a huge perk as you can just park and walk everywhere. The breakfast is varied and high quality. The staff is always kind and helpful. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant this visit, but we have in the past and it has been very good.

I would suggest a minor update in the bathroom. The only electrical outlet, located inside of the hair-drying unit, doesn't work (this was also the case in my sister's room), which is an issue. Also, the lightning needs to be improved.

in the heart of Braga's Center, the place takes your mind back in time to when it was a convent and untill recently a hospital. We were a family with 2 children and they too were captivated in the winds of time. Spacious room, an acceptable foldable bed for the children. genuinely welcoming staff. we enjoyed the atmosphere also when dining at the hotel, the dinner was altogether good value for money ( but once they blundered- tasteless spaghettis for the children that came after waiting 1 hour !!). the negative side: the air conditioning system is oddly controlled by calling the desk, and sometimes there was no answer to our call even after waiting 15 minutes)

The room, breakfast and location were excellent, as was the support provided by the staff with practical questions (e.g. how to get to Bom Jesus do Monte, etc). I will definitely return!

If I would really have to try to pick something that I missed, it was earl grey tea that is usually available in good hotels in countries with a stronger coffee drinking culture. Plus, the Nespresso machine in my room did not include instructions, so I ended up destroying and wasting the two complementary cups. :( But these are really tiny details that did not affect my overall excellent stay.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Vila Gale Collection Braga that exceeded my expectations in every way. The hotel is an old monastery that has been modernized on the inside, offering guests a unique and luxurious experience. Despite its historic origins, the hotel is equipped with all the modern amenities one could need, including comfortable beds, high-speed internet, and a well-equipped gym. The hotel's central location made it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. What I loved most about this hotel, however, was its beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. The old monastery architecture provided a sense of calm and tranquility, and the attentive staff made sure that every guest felt welcome and taken care of.

A very clean and well appointed hotel. Location is excellent for exploring the old town. The parking was easy in hotel parking lot.

Our room wasn't ready , even though we arrived late in the afternoon. The advertisement gives the impression you'll be staying in a historical building....but that's only the facade. The actual room was in the new extension so it lacked completely in character and had absolutely no view to speak of. ...very disappointing. The breakfast looked "pretty " but the food was mediocre. It lacked quality & flavour.

The Palace is beautiful and the position is perfect. Probably the best structure in Braga. High quality breakfast and very nice swimming pool.

Service was good but not top-notch. We had some problems with the safe which remained unsolved despite different requests of assistance. Even the cleaning service was not that good. If I stay 2 nights I expect to find the room in perfect conditions also after the first night. I am talking about details, but for such an experience details do make the difference.

The room was beautiful and spacious, Bed was very comfortable. The location was right in the center of town in an amazing building. Buffet breakfast had everything you would ever want. 3 swimming pools, a gym, and a sauna. o plenty to do if the weather is bad. Lovely courtyard in the middle of the building where you can relax with a glass of wine. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

The staff are treasures.....Carla at reception was exceptional.....so knowledgeable about history of building and willing to share that knowledge.....also the breakfast room staff...I wanted to know name of flower on display....young waiter didn't know, he went to the lady chef,she told him, they did Google translate...name of flower Purple Perpetua.....that level of.helpfulness is rare. Magnificent building very sensitively turned into hotel..... Location is superb, within walking distance to everything. The housekeeping staff do a fantastic job...extremely high standard of cleanliness.....the breakfast has a good variety.....there is plenty of sitting space around the building.......I found it to be a place of great tranquility and calm...... I would highly recommend this hotel......obviously as a solo traveller it is expensive (you are paying for 2 people),but for 2 people sharing it is good value

As a solo traveller, having to pay for 2......this is a universal problem , which nobody seems willing to address

The location is right in the heart of the city, within an historic building. The large room, with confy beds. The wonderful smell of the toiletries. The mountain view from the balcony. The swimming pool area was great. The breakfast was excellent, especially the natural orange juice and the warm food selection. The freshly baked croissants and Natas.

Poor bread selection at breakfast. Missed a place to dry your swim suit when you get back in the room.

Turned from a former hospital into a beautiful place for guests this hotels contained many positive surprises, signaling the good taste of the interior designers. We had wonderful rooms, spacious and with a balcony. The pool was wonderful as was breakfast each morning! So many great delicacies to choose from and a lovely place to sit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Safe parking. Great location to visit the beautiful city of Braga!

The hotel is very large, but had only one elevator. This was quite a walk with all of our luggage. And it took a while too as many people were using the elevator. Perhaps consider offering luggage carts.
