The Breakfast was wonderful . Fantastic selection and variety . Very spacious dining room , very comfortable . Lovely setting to eat in. The food was excellent . Service very good . The food was refilled quickly if items were low in stock.

When I tried to call from Canada when booking these rooms , I could not get through, however email questions were answered quickly. When we went out one night and got back late, the main doors were locked, for safety , which we did not know . Locking the doors is a great idea , but just let the guest know the doors will be locked at a certain time , and what to do , Knock/ring bell etc. Doors were opened fairly quickly when we knocked .We would have loved it if there were adjoining /connecting rooms , however we were accommodated with two rooms beside each other .

Interesting historic castle, huge and imposing reception rooms with some wonderful antiques. A good sized bedroom but twin beds. The huge restaurant served only 3 tables on our night - a bit ghostly! - but though the food was very good the service was vague. The bar service in the late evening was eccentric. This has the basis for a truly wonderful place like some of the other Pousadas but it seemed to lack that personal touch, perhaps a little complacent. The associated castle tower is spectacular. Estremoz is a strange place, quite rough and run down in the old town around the castle (though very interesting) and re-developing and smartening up in the lower town; the tile museum is exceptional as was the restaurant, ‘Gardanha’.

A lack of personal sparkle.

One of the nicest stays we have had in a long time ( and we travel a lot ) and the nicest Pousada we have ever stayed in - felt very privileged to be able to spend the night in such a prestigious place for what was a very reasonable price. Staff were without exception brilliant, nothing too much for them with a smile on their faces. Lovely and warm everywhere in the Pousada on a very cold windy day outside. Pity the restaurant was closed because of shortage of kitchen staff. Breakfast was very generous and tasty. Followed their recommendation to dine in the old prison restaurant next door, which was exceptionally good.

Everything. The hospitality, the cleanliness, the comfort of the room and the wonder every time we walked into the pousada. The breakfast was probably the best we have ever had. Juices were all natural: freshly squeezed orange juice and pressed watermelon. All types of milk and plant based drinks. There was something for every taste. But the very best was the genuine kindness of the staff who made our stay extra special. A special thank you to all. We will without a doubt be returning.

Well-maintained castle. Actually, it is a palace. Beautiful sitting area on main floor and restaurant for dinner filled with authentic pieces from the 17th and 18th centuries. Breakfast had lots of variety and very pleasant staff. Lovely outdoor pool. Location has beautiful view of Estremoz and the countryside and it is also a short walk to city centre, restaurants and coffee shops. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful historic hotel furnished from C17th, with up to date facilities (air con, fridge etc). Castle is part of the hotel courtyard. The location gave outstanding views across the town and countryside. Reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, other staff we encountered helpful. Rooms spacious and bed enormous, ample towels inc pool towels provided. Pool set in spacious gardens.

What a wonderful experience to stay here, the castle is just stunning, we didn’t want to leave. We enjoyed an afternoon around the pool and although the water was cold it was refreshing. Dinner was a wonderful experience and breakfast was excellent. We went to go and explore the town but turned around and decided to just enjoy the experience of the castle. Highly recommend.

Excellent place to stay in Estremoz. The staff was very welcoming, polite and eager to assist, provided us information about the place and recommendation about the where abouts in Estremoz and the area. Nice interior design of the public areas providing a magical atmosphere. Big room, clean and tidy with comfortable king size bed and a view to the town. Powerfull air condition (we stayed there during a heat wave of more than 40 degress and it was a life saver). Nice swimming pool. Excellent breakfast, american style with lot of local pastries (especially the traditional and tasty pastella da nata). Excellent dinner in the facilities restaurant (One of the best we had in our trip).

Everything was perfect

We received phenomenal customer service and attention from Fayçal (Front Desk, Reception) who offered great local recommendations, and we very helpful in booking wine tours at local Herdades for us. Our room overlooked the pool and former jailhouse (which is now a nearby restaurant/bar), and it was classically decorated - which was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Breakfast selection was very nice and ample, which options to sit outside on the terrace - or inside in the main dining hall. Considering this is a 13th century castle, it has the charm (and age), while still offering guests a fine stay and dining experience. The location (and views) are perfect, and navigating the streets to get there (either by foot or by car) is immensely charming. We will return, for sure!

Historic castle but also amazingly comfortable. Wonderful views. Staff so helpful in trying to find out about a winery we wanted to visit. The best breakfast on our tour by far - we certainly didn't need lunch. The little cakes (orange and pasteis de nata were incredible). Absolutely no negatives at all. Easy walk into town. Dinner, whilst a bit formal, was delicious. Great place to stay and wouldn't hesitate about returning if we visited Estremoz again. Easy to park outside the hotel.
