Directly at the coast, pedras do mar is a beautiful spot. You can walk directly to the cliffs and there’s one spot down at the water. The spa and wellness treatments were very good. The food was extremely good although it was not cheap.

Our room looked quite „used“, the bathtub was a little broken (room 102). The door to the balcony was squeaking. All in all really not a bad hotel - don’t get us wrong. But if you chose 5 stars, there’s room for improvement left and the „WOW-factor“ was missing. It was our honeymoon and we just received a card (which was handwritten - perfect!) but maybe a bottle of champagne as we got in our next apartment (which apparently is no 5 star hotel) would make the experience better and more special :) just as an example. So don’t hesitate to book, but these words are for pedras do mar to improve :)

From check in to checkout and everything in between, Pedras Do Mar and the team were exceptional! We landed very early in the morning from our flight and the team was grateful enough to check us in with zero issues, and with a kind reception. Our room was very large and roomy, facing the ocean. There is not a bad view on the entire property. It was a peaceful and calm stay. The restaurant, bar, spa were all spacious and clean. Entire staff greeted us with smiles and super helpful with any needs. The food at breakfast - all local - was perfection and kicked off each day with complete satisfaction. The grounds surrounding the property were also delightful. The different pathways leading towards to the ocean for a quick hike were dreamy. We are definitely going back and staying here!! It became a special place to us immediately.

The location was beautiful and the hotel was well appointed. The housekeeping staff can to our rescue the morning of our departure. After having eaten in their hotel restaurant the night before, my daughter was violently ill all night long. They went out of their way to get us various size bags for my daughter’s use and to protect the car. They were kind and generous when the front desk was unwilling to allow us to stay in our room an extra hour to give our daughter a little extra time for her stomach to settle before driving on the windy Azorean roads.

Despite the fact that our daughter spent the night being violently ill after having eaten in their restaurant, the front desk was unwilling to allow us to stay in our room an extra hour past checkout time in order to give her stomach a little more time to settle before driving on the windy Azorean roads. We spent two hours sitting as close as possible to the lobby washroom to avoid an embarrassing accident on their floors. Given the size of the hotel, the multiple rooms at their disposal and the fact that there check in time was after 3 pm., even at full capacity, the decent thing to do would have been to allow an extra hour in our room with our sick daughter.

the spa area was a bit smaller than expected and the sauna quiet cold, the Turkish bath did not work properly. the in-house restaurant had quiet high prices and very few vegetarian options

Location was great, we liked that there was pretty much nothing around, staff was very friendly and nice. Hotels territory is very green and well maintained.

We stayed for 7days and breakfast was pretty much same the whole time - same 3 types of cheese, same 3 pastries, same everything every day, freshly cut fruits varied on some days, if you wanted omelette there is additional charge of 12€, also the restaurant menu didn’t have much options, so we ended up eating out almost every day. Pool chairs need some cushioning as they are super hard.

The modern built hotel is located in the north of the island near the sea. The sea view rooms really offer a beautiful view of the sea and are nicely furnished. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is well equipped. The hotel offers a rich breakfast. The restaurant offers a good selection of dishes. There is also a bar with drinks and less sophisticated bar food such as burgers etc. The pools are not large but offer enough space for children to have fun and for adults to refresh themselves. The hotel staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful when our luggage was lost on arrival on the island. You need to hire a car for this hotel as there is nothing really within walking distance apart from a small cafe bar. We liked staying at Pedras do Mar and would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the island.

The location was nice, with a good view from the hotel towards the sea on one side, and the hilly landscape on the other. It was almost mid way along the Northern coast, which made the sightseeing easy. Although there was no beach nearby, and you really needed a car to see the sites, the roads were quiet, (better than UK roads(!) and well signposted. I’d recommend a sat nav though. Island maps can only be obtained at the airport, from the Tourism office.

We thought the prices for food and drink were a bit higher than they should have been in comparison to some restaurants we found in the capital Ponta Delgado, but you can’t expect cheap when you’re on an island so far from the mainland. I had to service the Airconditioning in our room as the airflow was inadequate. I did not mind doing this as I am an air conditioning contractor in the UK.

Northern side of the isle, away from the touristy south side with Ponta Delgada. Very good base for exploring the whole island. 15-20 min drive to Ponta Delgada ( 40 min to anywhere on the island). The hotel is nice, and a good alternative to busy resorts on south side. Breakfast is diverse enough for 7-8 days but it might get boring if you stay longer. Big parking lot, no issues with finding a place. Beach towels which you can “refresh” at any time.

You need to plan your meals if you want to eat outside. Renting a car is mandatory, but this is valid anywhere in the island. What’s the point in visiting Azores if you don’t explore the whole island? Yes coffee capsules cost 75 cents in the room and a 1.5 liters bottle of water is 3 euro at the reception … as many people complained. But coffee is free at breakfast ( same capsules + other options ) and tap water is also potable. So I find this only a very minor issue.

The coffee in the room was not complimentary which I found ridiculous- being charged for coffee pods. I would much have preferred having complimentary instant coffee than being charged for Nespresso pods in our room (alternatively at least one pod per person per day being included would be more reasonable). Have never been in accomodation where you get charged for the coffee making facilities in room, let alone 5 star.

Beautiful location with sea vistas from every angle. The staff was exceptionally attentive, and went out of their way - continuously - to make sure our every want and need was met. Exceptional stay in a very exceptional place.

The property is located outside of town, so you need a shuttle (free from the resort) or taxi, although we did walk it a couple of times just for the exercise and excitement (the road is narrow and very busy!). The shuttle is convenient and easy to use, but sometimes it is nice just to walk to other places.
