August 2023

Place was very centrally situated - 5 minutes from the metro and close to many bars, restaurants and shops. My room was a little noisy as it faced the front, but I prefer to have a view of the street, and I even had a balcony! There was even air-conditioning, which I hadn't expected. Bed was firm and comfortable, I had my own shower and sink, and the toilet was on the corridor. Both were always clean. Building had a lift, and I was able to store my suitcase on the day of departure until I needed to leave for the airport. Definitely recommend, and I'd go back if visiting Lisbon again.

A little street noise, but the street view and balcony was compensation for that.

December 2024

We booked for 5 nights in December to see the nearby Christmas markets and city. It was a great experience, the location is superb. We could walk to Rossio, Praça do Comercio, and more. A lot of people complain about the rooms but I felt it accurately represented the affordable price. We were on the 4th floor, with a small balcony. The rooms and shared toilet was always kept clean. Yes, there’s a weird smell at times (mainly the shared toilet bathroom, but it’s more of an intense cleaning smell). The rooms can smell a little bit weird at first but you open the balcony door for 30 minutes and it’s completely gone. There’s a small elevator that will take you up to avoid the stairs, which was convenient. The receptionists we met were friendly and helpful. Also, I remember seeing reviews about it being cold during this time in winter. We were worried about this, but thankfully there was an air conditioning in our room. You just have to ask them for the remote. The person said “it may not work but you can try”, so we did and it worked perfectly. It kept us warm at night, and we didn’t have to pay a deposit for the remote. There’s a shower and sink in the room as well which was nice to have private. Small but shower pressure and hot water was superb. Overall, a great budget option and we enjoyed our stay. Also, we never had issues with noise. Maybe because we were on the 4th floor and during low season. Only one of the days on a Saturday had some loud noises at midday which you can expect in the city.

Not the best option for remote work. Nowhere to sit at a desk and the internet can be slow at times. But for a regular holiday purposes it is a great budget option. Internet was still good enough to watch shows and movies etc so don’t worry.

Very centrally located room, with all the basic amenities you need in a city trip (short stay, 3 nights). Excellent public transport in two minutes walk in Rossio area, clean bedding and towels. Would stay here again, as the price was very affordable.

Unfortunately reception was only manned from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm, which was inconvenient. There's a 10 euro cash deposit for the A/C remote to heat the room (wintertime, cold and wet). As I did not have a 10 euro note and the hotel offered no change or alternative, I had no heating the first night. And no heating on the third and last night because I had to return the remote before 7.00 pm if I did not want to loose my deposit, as I checked out early in the morning. All in all not a very guestfriendly setup.

The location could not have been better. The cost and value for money were excellent. Great transport links to all parts of Lisbon. It is an old charming building. If you like to be pampered this is not for you, but I like to experience things. You can smell the age of the property, experience it. The staff were friendly and if you are a foodie there are numerous places to eat within a couple of minutes walk. There are also 24/7 taxis on the square a couple of hundred yards away which is ideal for an out of hours airport trip.

Street noise, but to me this is part of the experience.

Great value for the euro especially, where situated in the centre of this fascinating old town part of the city centre. All cultural, aesthetic and gastronomic amenities were basically on the doorstep ie.within walking distance. If you had business in other parts of this large city, the very functional idiot friendly metro is literally a few seconds away.

There was a problem with the heating in my room ( it can get quite chilly at night at this time of year) however this was resolved.

"The location is good. However, the staff could improve their communication and be more proactive. Good accommodation for the price and location.;)

If you visit Lisbon and the weather is cold (in March, 10 degrees), you should be informed that heating is not a standard amenity in this hotel. Windows are charming and historic but cannot protect against cold from outside. It's not ideal to have a room temperature of 15-16 degrees, maybe even less ;) After a few days, we somehow communicated with staff and got an external heating system, and then it was without any problems with accommodation.

Very good location, friendly and helpful staff. The building itself is old, but everything is very clean and tidy. The biggest advantage of this stay is location, as you're in the middle of most visitable areas. Also, there is a water vending machine inside, which is great!

Since the building is old, so are the windows, so there is no soundproofing at all. The guest room is in between 2 streets so there are quite a lot of sounds all the time, whether it's a tram passing by or some people talking in the streets. But, during our stay we saw new plastic windows brought, so I guess they're on it. There was also weird odor in the elevator (at all times), but I'm happy with the overall experience

Norte Guest House is situated in the epicenter of Lisbon, and everything you would want to see is very near. The staff is very friendly and attentive, they all speak good english so the communication was excellent. It is very clean and the bed was great! Also, if you have a late flight, the instructions for late check-in are very simple and detailed.

Although I can only recommend staying in the center of Lisbon, bare in mind that there is a lot of noise coming from the streets, day and night.

Located right by a metro station (easy to get to from the airport) Located in the main social area with the most history, restaurants, the castle and near the beach Had a shower and sink in the room Wi-fi was good - allowed me to use Netflix with no issues

Seemed to be rarely staffed - not sure how hard check in at certain times - was okay for me at 2pm Walls were very thin so i was woken up by someone on their phone all night

The guest house belongs to a near hotel, we arrived in the evening so had to take our keys from the hotel reception - the receptionist was very nice and professional. We found everything easily, it is in the city center, you pass many places to eat or grab a drink while walking there. Millions of choices. We recommend the supermarket - Pingo Doce for classic groceries/water shopping. Our room had a bathroom, everything good and functional. A built in wardrobe and bidet are a plus. There is a TV, too.
