The room was very large and had a very nice balcony overlooking the lovely garden The garden featured a large and attractive swimming pool but also a lovely natural pond with coy carp and fresh water turtles. The whole garden was simply stunning. Another bonus was the indoor pool - great for an early morning swim before breakfast. Both pools were heated. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. The hotel was very quiet and elegant with lovely gardens off the breakfast room and bar and a terrace overlooking the main garden off the dining room. The hotel was one of the nicest I have stayed in anywhere.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was absolutely perfect. This is what I would describe as a classic "old school" hotel in the best sense of the word. The breakfast is buffet style, but in the grandest sense. You get to choose from a wonderful selection of fresh breads, pastries, cheeses, fruits, cereals to hot breakfast foods, such as scrambled/fried/boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes. Tea and coffee is served in silver pots. There is smoked salmon and sparkling wine. The breakfast room is lovely and you can choose to eat inside the airy room or outside in the courtyard. The heated outdoor pool and its surrounding garden are a beautiful oasis in a busy city that is pushed for space. The adjoining bar serves great casual food. We had the Salmon Poke bowl and it was delicious and very filling. The main restaurant is serious silver service, without being in the slightest bit stuffy or formal. I would highly recommend the tasting menu. You get to try the what I consider the highlights of what is on offer for a little more than 2 courses. The chef is exceptional. The room is beautiful and in keeping with its traditional setting. Lots of chandeliers, swagged curtains, flower arrangements. The bar is just what you would expect from a hotel of this style. Moody lighting, with lots of red tones and dark wood. Expert cocktails, free bar snacks, very friendly staff and a piano player to die for. There is also a great indoor pool with a sauna and steam room. Our room was spacious, with a large marble bathroom and balcony.

This is not something that the hotel can change and it did not affect our stay, but you should be aware that the pool is under the flight path of the airport. So you will hear and see planes flying overhead during the day. You will NOT hear them inside the hotel.

Excellent and friendly service and support from the staff. Very comfortable room with view of the Tagus, and a modern and well equipped bathroom. Good dining options, especially the bar where the staff could not be more helpful and where the menu is more varied and frankly much better than the more formal restaurant, which we found very expensive for what was, sadly, an average meal. Buffet breakfast was superb. The hotel has an excellent range of facilities, including a very relaxing garden and outdoor swimming pool.

Our only comment relates to the hotel’s position. It is not easy to access other than by taxi; it is a distance from the historic centre of Lisbon and is located underneath the flight path for Lisbon airport. As a consequence, the outdoor breakfast area, bar and garden can be quite noisy, especially as jet aircraft tend to land every 5-10minutes!

The room and bathroom were both great, confortable and pleasant. The breakfast was spectacular as it was the breakfast area coutyard...pleasant, peaceful and just pain very enjoyable. Although, we did not use the pool or spa facilities, we visited these and thought they were great. The pool and the gardens are beautiful....an oasis in the city of Lisbon. The staff for the hotel were always attentive and welcoming. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The only draw back is that the hotel is not close to the city center.

Distance to the city center is about 15 minutes away via taxi on a regular day....not walkable.

An Excellent hotel, good size rooms well-appointed looking over the pool and grounds. Wide bright corridors and reception area. Pool and Garden area excellent with a good size pool and plenty of sun chairs. The staff were beyond exceptional with a particular mention going to the pool bar staff.

A little out of town but Taxi's were 8 Euro to get in. I am from humble stock so bar prices looked high to me but all this good service has to be paid for so you pay your money and make your choice

The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The hotel and it’s grounds are very beautiful and well maintained . Our room had a stunning river view, it was a very relaxing experience. Viva Lapa Palace!

The hotel feels a little dated. If they made a few tweaks, like replacing carpets, draperies and bedspreads, with livelier, brighter more modern patterns and hues, I think it would have a huge impact and it would create a better guest experience.

The hotel is by its right one of "the leading hotels of the world". Perfect staff, beautiful setting in a garden, quiet, discreet, very good beds, and not too far from the centre. Also the pool area was very fine and relaxing, as well as the spa. When they realized we were here for honeymoon, we found on our return from sightseeing a bottle of sparkling wine and strawberries in our room! I was staying in this hotel 10+ years ago and it is still as great as it was then. Definitely a recommendation and one of the best experiences in the high-end class.

Only negative point: no hand-held shower, only the wall-mounted thing that is only common in the US and Britain... and not loved very much elsewhere, because ladies need shower caps...

Beautiful building. I stayed in the palace part, in an art deco room which was why I chose the hotel. Doesn’t feel too big. Garden and pool are lovely.

A little away from the centre of things so I recommend taxis if you’re not fond of a lot of walking. I was surprised there wasn’t a folder in the room with information about the hotel such as a map. The doorman wasn’t the best.

mostly i liked the pool area,very relaxing and calm.Sun beds are very comfy with pillows .There were always free sun beds in the pool.Other guest are also very intelligent people and they were very quiet.Overal perfect for relax. Room was also very nice.I don’t like the style of the hotel and prefer more modern style but this hotel was so charming.There were marble everywhere and i love marble.Staff was so so kind.I felt like home.Breakfast was very good,with enough fruits like mango ,pineapple and etc,they had soya ,almond and different kind of milk.

i didn’t like the noise from machine cutting the grass in the morning and the machine with which they clean the leaves.I believe there is a much cheaper ,faster and less noise way to clean the leaves from the tiles.Just ask one of your cleaning ladies to sweep.Also i didn’t like we had so much mosquitos in the room and we had to sleep with closed windows in the night,also on the pool there were so many fly and bee .Food choose on the pool was limited .Overall we liked the hotel very much ,just these are some details which maybe are not important for everyone

Everything was absolutely perfect from the moment we checked in to the late check out that was generously granted. The room was large and very comfortable and with an exceptional view. The staff was attentive and kind, especially with my 88 year old mother who travelled with me. The pool is surprisingly large for a city hotel, the bar and fumoir are very elegant with an old school style which I loved. The Olissippo Lapa is most definitely a true Palace and I look forward to returning. Thank you once again to everyone who made my mother's dream come true
