I love fruit, all kinds, but my husband only likes some fruit. So Breakfast was not great for him. Also, it's almost the same Breakfast everyday so if you don't like fruit, or Watermelon in particular, then Breakfast is not so great. View from the room was excellent. Lights along the river at night were spectacular. Rooms are fairly quiet. That was nice.

Smell from toilet. Changes in water pressure occurred a couple of times. I was worried once to not have water to wash shampoo out of my hair as no water coming out at all.

There is not a more caring attentive ownership or staff anywhere in my extensive travel experience. Any problem or inconvenience is addressed as if the guest is family. The breakfast is beyond belief. Day after day the freshest extensive variety of top quality fruit and baked goods. The rooms are spotless. The ownership and staff are incredibly knowledgeable about Porto and the area. Any tourist question, answered immediately. A must, if you are fortunate to get a reservation.

The hotel is on the Ribera which is a magical neighborhood of Porto. The staff is as wonderful as the location of this beautiful place. Hugo, Luisa, Deniz, and Luiz are amazing. They are so attentive to detail and are concerned to make sure you are comfortable and having an amazing time. Each morning we were greeted by a beautiful breakfast that included an array of delicious fruit, fresh bread, cheese, meats, and freshly squeezed juices. If you are looking for a place that is wonderful and won’t break the bank then make your reservations at Guest House Douro.

Nothing at all.

Great position, right by the river Douro - in the heart of the historic town: everything is walkable, restaurants and bars all around. The guest house is in an inconspicuous position, one would not even know it is there. The rooms are very clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom small but modern - it even had a bidet despite its small size, soft bathroom linen and toiletries supplied. Our room faced the back of the square, looking onto a tiny alley, there are rooms facing the river but we booked too late to get a room with a river view. All staff we met were amazing. As there is no parking at the hotel we needed to call and ask for advise where to park. We did not get an answer straight away but the receptionist called us back straight away when he was free to ask how he could help. Very attentive and helpful! Breakfast was the best continental breakfast we’ve ever been served! Beautifully presented, a variety of fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices, a selection of delicious hams and cheeses and a variety of gorgeous fresh bread rolls to chose from. Fabulous coffee too! All served with a smile. This is a tiny guest house, no frills, no pretence - just a fabulous little place to lay your head after a long day‘s exploring and to wake up with a smile over such a lovely breakfast.

No complaints

Location and staff were excellent! Breakfast was jaw dropping continental. Local music and food right outside and a beautiful view of the Douro. Fairly short walk across the bridge on lower level. Upper level is a climb. Close to most attractions. All staff were friendly and so willing to help. Room was small, but comfortable and had a balcony over the river. Cold A/C. A magical place & would recommend! Go see the 3 Beatles street singers across the bridge in the evening and have a glass of Cava watching the sun set .

Front Door is locked, but just ask & they will give you a key.

Loved loved loved our stay! From the easy entrance to the welcome from the friendly staff with a port wine tasting and tour of our room. Spacious room and small quaint building with only 8 rooms. Other guests were very friendly as well. Breakfast outside by the riviera was absolutely beautiful and was so yummy with the fruits, breads, cheese and meats and fresh juice and coffee! The staff are so friendly and helpful. They gave us water upon request and made us feel so at home. We absolutely loved the magical two nights and days we had in Porto! No complaints! Lucky to have found this gem!

Some guests complained about the noise but we never had an issue with that! We slept so well and it was very comfortable.

the location is excellent. it is just beside the river. all the staffs Dinis , Lous and another lady was excellent. all of them were trying to make our stay comfortable. the water(bottled purified drinking water ) and tea /coffee are on the house always. so you can order any number of times and they will be happy to offer you.

there were no crib. so if you have a baby then it will not be a comfortable space to stay. but for us, the staff changed our room and shifted us to a room where the bed was bigger and had excellent view of the river. we adjusted little but it was worth of it. the staffs were continuously trying to make our stay better. they were amazing.

This was a great little guest house. The staff were exceptional: bringing coffees and hot water for tea to our room, helping with dinner ideas and reservations. Breakfast had lots of fruit with sliced meats and some cheese as well. Room was small but comfortable with a good bed and nice modern bathroom. It was quiet at night but in a convenient location.

Our only issue was hot water pressure. Showers were tricky as flow had to be adjusted carefully so you could still have reasonable temperature. That was definitely substandard. We were on the top floor so maybe that was a factor (although cold water pressure was fine).

we liked everything about this property. the staff and service were amazing. they made a great team across different shifts. the location with views of the river perfect. the breakfast beautiful and plentiful. eight to 10 types of perfectly ripe fruit, pastries, breads, nuts, jam, cured meats, cheese and great coffee. one of our friends luggage was lost and staff was very helpful in making calls to the airport to arrange for delivery once it came in on a later flight.

the rooms are a little small but the location and views made it worth it.
