Stayed here for a night to break a long journey, stayed on for a local guide arranged by lodge on cacao growing & production which was amazing, so educational & delicious. The accommodation including super huge bed in lovingly built traditional buildings set right in jungle surroundings. Fantastic marked trail around grounds to explore the jungle and kitchen garden. A big bonus was the pool where we sat and watched the monkeys playing in the trees above. Also had dinner which was excellent and met the owner who is friendly, passionate about the environment and really helpful.

Sleeping in the « domo » (the yurt) was truly magical. we could thus hear nature better. The bedroom and bathroom area were spacious, comfortable and very clean. The garden and the property are really gorgeous We took advantage of it to take the 4km walk in the forest path into the property. The view from the restaurant is incredible for breakfast. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Our guests was super kind and helpful!

Location is great! We stayed here two nights on our way from San Jose to Manzanillo. The setting is lush and beautiful and very relaxing. The food is fantastic and the rooms are comfortable. The owner of the property is a lovely gentleman who will visit with you and give you ideas of things to do in the area and on the property. We did the chocolate tour and really enjoyed it.

It was a little tricky to find in the dark.

Oasis that we liked a lot. Very friendly and committed staff. Wonderful garden and surrounding park. Very good breakfast. Great chocolate tour.

Many insects like mosquitos, spiders in the room and bathroom. Windows cannot be completely closed and no screens against mosquitoes.

The location was fabulous. Garden paths through the property a big extra. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed meeting the owner of the property. Would definitely stay here again.

The pictures do not show the real beauty of this place. John Pierre the owner was present the whole time fir anything we needed and let us check in early. he helped book a private River tour for us that was less expensive than a “traditional” tour and we saw 7 different types of Costa Rican species. next day Randell guided us on an indigenous Chocolate tour on the property . it was the BEST! he was knowledgeable and kind and engaging. the restaurant prepared fresh food and all was reasonably priced.

a little to close to major road. you can’t see it there is so much beautiful jungle around but you can hear it. Along with the birds and the frogs.

Our best stay in Costa Rica Truly the most special place to stay in Costa Rica. Tucked away in its own private jungle , next to a National park, the hotel offers a peaceful and delightful stay with amazing food, rooms and facilities (photos do not do it justice!). The pool is incredible and very tranquil - the only sound is the howler monkeys climbing on the trees! There is also an amazing chocolate tour on site, as well as a fab walk through their own forest. The host could not do enough for us and his guests and made sure all of our needs were met. He really made our stay! :( Just wish we had longer

Its beautiful place specially if you like nature. Owners & staff were lovely and polite.

The place wasn’t as easy to find specially when its dark. Maybe to help some better larger signage or give pictures or instructions of how to to get to place with pictures might be useful.

The owner, Jean Pierre, has had a great vision for Hacienda La Isla since he bought the property 18 years ago - a sustainable retreat that is ecologically and culturally sound. Talking with him and walking the 3.5 km nature trail we’re both unexpected treats.

Authentic restored colonial farmhouse. wonderful setting tucked away off the main road - great access and perfect spot as traveling around. Wonderful owner provided us with personalized stay. even though it rained most of the time we were there, it was charming! had dinner and breakfast outside in the beautiful on-site restaurant….excellent! Extremely comfortable bed, rooms with european charm and clean. Morning enjoyed early hiking around trails on the property before breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
