An absolute top notch hotel. The staff readily honored my request to change my 1st floor room upon arrival for a 2nd floor room. The room was very large, SPOTLESS, the bed was comfortable and quiet. We liked the hotel so much we booked the same room for our trip back home a few days later. Easy on/off I-95 and plenty of places nearby to grab a quick meal. Complementary breakfast was perfect to fuel up before driving the /nd half of our trip. The lady who took care of the breakfast area was in constant motion stocking the food and bd rages and tidying up the tables. What I liked best of all was that the hotel required a refundable $50 deposit in addition to thd room rate. This gave me confidence that I was booking at a hotel that took care of the facility. I would definitely be using this hotel on our annual stopover to seeing family in Florida

Everything was perfect!

My kids and I really enjoyed our stay! We only thought we were staying 2-3 nights during our evacuation due to Hurricane Milton, but it ended up being 10 nights. What could have been a very stressful situation was made much better by us finding this hotel. The desk staff was accommodating and patient, and the housekeeping staff went out of their way to meet our needs with a friendly smile. We enjoyed many beautiful parks in the area, and found the people of Florence to be so kind and proud of their city! We would stay again!

Who knew Howard Johnson's still existed? As others have reviewed, the outside might not look like much, but the rooms and dining area have been updated to current hotel standards. Everything was good in the room except for outside guest noise. Plus you can walk to Starbucks and dining options like Jersey Mike's, a BBQ place, and the highly recommended Julie Belle's for southern cuisine. The location is right off of I-95 in a hotel cluster that includes a Hampton Inn, so you know it's not in a questionable area.

The free breakfast had limited options. The paved parking lot, or what's left of it, is in tough shape.

We were so pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Howard Johnson decorated with fun decor reminding us of old times but completely updated. We were greeted at check in by Talik who was gracious and helpful making sure our rooms were close together. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, shower great and morning breakfast was as described with cereal, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, toast, muffins and bagels and the best orange juice ( 100 % juice from Sunkist) that we have ever had at a hotel breakfast like this. There were people tending to the breakfast food and tables so things were replenished and tables wiped down. The room was surprisingly quiet and the heat/air conditioning unit was also quiet. It was an incredible bargain! Many of the other guests were families. This is a motel, like where we all stayed in the past, but it has been nicely remodeled and the staff made it a very nice stay.

Room was large, attractive, well provisioned and clean. I loved the refrigerator/ freezer - NICE touch! The mattress was delightfully comfortable, and the sheets more luxurious than are usually in a hotel room - also a nice touch. I found the desk comfortable to work at and the television was working properly. The shower had a lovely big shower head and the water was nice and hot.

That I didn't have time to stay longer! :)

Great location, comfortable beds.

Things could have been tightened up just a little bit. There was a pretty big gap under the door. The room was clean enough but there were crumbs or smears on the lamps, television, in the corners of the room. Also, the tv remote was pretty beat up. Not enough issues to be a problem, just enough to kind of notice.

The room was clean, bed & pillows were comfortable, room was decorated with lamps that looked like the 1960s but were modernized with outlets - it was really cute! Price was great.

Breakfast wasn't a hot meal with bacon & scrambled eggs, but I didn't expect it to be. It was the usual offerings of a carb laden meal, with cereal & bread. They did have hard boiled eggs. And my husband was thrilled with the chocolate milk!

Great place, but staff at breakfast two women loudly flirting with male customer . Ignoring everyone else, standing in doorway blocking people. Acting like no one there but themselves. At checkout , person at desk walked away when I walked up. Then another person came up and was using computer asked if I had been helped. I said no. He asked First Lady to help me, she refused. Finally the manager came out and was pleasant.

Staff

Very quiet place, great location, clean bathroom, friendly staff, some very basic breakfast included just enough to get you going. Beds had nice white clean sheets and they were comfortable. AC was pretty quiet. Price was competitive.

The smell of the room, as most motels window can not be opened and having a carpet in the room perhaps absorbs all humidity and smells. either way it had the classical moldy smell.

The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and fulfilled our request for an especially quiet room. Given the reviews, we had low expectations of the breakfast but were actually pleasantly surprised. Nothing hot to eat, but there were hard boiled eggs and whole wheat bread for toast, so it was sufficient for us. We would definitely stay here again.
