Hobbit Boutique Hotel

The Hobbit hotel always our first choice for accommodation in Bloemfontein. The check-in is easy, the staff are friendly, the gardens are spectacular and the breakfast is delicious (and real coffee is served). We appreciated the safe parking. There is also the convenient option of ordering food and drinks from their sister restaurant around the corner. Very central location. Especially as I am a Lord of the Rings fan, staying in JRR Tolkien's birthplace is special. The Lord of the Rings artwork is also wonderful and is enjoyed on every stay.

Although the rooms and amenities are excellent, there is definitely something lacking. For the price we would have expected a jug of fresh milk in the fridge. 2 milk pods are not sufficient. A few cookies or rusks would also be expected for the price. Although we understand why shower gel is used a bar of soap or 2 would be nice. We hate using shower gel and went to the pharmacy on the corner to buy a bar of soap. The arch of glass above the room door is irritating for light sleepers.

Fantastic accommodation in Bloemfontein. Friendliest staff who accommodated my every wish, be it for an ironing board, printing a document for me, offering a lunch pack seeing that I would be leaving too early to have breakfast etc. Huge rooms, spotlessly clean. Very well located - I recommend it without any hesitation!

I absolutely loved this place! A must-stay if you're a Tolkien fan like me! Not only is it a really comfortable and lovely hotel, it is just packed with Tolkien paraphernalia and has an amazing Middle Earth feel throughout! Each room is just so unique, and I could have spent ages just wandering around taking everything in. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful stay! 😁

Loved the theme of Lord of the rings. The rooms were very beautiful and loved the touch of antique furniture. It was a huge room. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The distance to restaurant - the area did not seem to be safe for walking - if you drove - one would have lost parking inside the secured space. Street view was not that nice, but with curtains closed it was fine.

Great service and comfortable rooms. We stayed in rooms in the courtyard which were a great location with a fabulous veranda to lounge around on. But previously we have stayed in rooms inside the main building which we felt had a lot more character and charm.

Our room was a bit dark as it had windows opening onto the boundary wall and you could hear the gate buzzer. We stayed in Arwen

The historical significance behind it was amazing and they’ve kept a lot of the original features and artifacts. The staff were amazing.

Our room was big but out of context with the rest of the hotel, obviously a new addition but not the same standard or effort out in. I also woke up during the night and saw lots of cockroaches.

good position, by foot you can also reach good restaurants breakfast good, not excellent very good price big room and bathroom very quite area, nice to sleep

too slow preparatation of warm breakfast, 15-20 minutes for an omelette is not acceptable on a business stay

Beautiful gardens, lovely staff and delicious omelette for breakfast. We had a good stay and would definitely go back again. We loved the Lord of the Rings theme.

The bed in our room concaved in the middle which meant that we unfortunately didn’t get a good nights sleep despite the beautiful room.

The history and style of the property.

The double bed. Was much to small. They should rather recommend that a couple take twin beds. Just a thought - due to the poor water quality in Bloemfontein I think rooms need complimentary bottled water - water quality did not look great. Was afraid to drink from the tap.

Service was excellent as before!

The room was very hot on arrival but that's expected because the day was exceptionally hot. If the staff had opened windows during the afternoon, it would have aired the room and made it a bit easier for the aircon to cope with 40degrees!
