Our room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a pleasant patio area. There was a large shower with lots of hot water and lovely toiletries.Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection - and the poached eggs were perfect, compliments to the chef! One evening we had supper at the restaurant, which was situated a short walk from our room and found the food and service to be of a high standard. Our parking bay was conveniently situated right outside our room, making it easy to carry our luggage in and out. The surrounding gardens were beautiful and the location handy for both Somerset West and Stellenbosch.

The decor is a little tired and the room could benefit from a few cushions and pictures, just to give it a more homely feel. The wardrobe is inconveniently located in the corner and has very little hanging space. There were a few tiles in the bathroom that should be replaced and an extractor fan would be an advantage, instead of having to open windows.

Booking was made on the morning of our 4 night stay as a result of having to revise our plans due to the severe storm which struck the Western Cape. It was not until turning into the drive we realised this was the same property at which we had stayed in February 2018. Everything was as we recalled from our previous visit - aside from one or two changes introduced as a result of the Pandemic which we viewed as improvements - but our accommodation looking out on the vineyards was a huge bonus compared to our previous visit when our view was of the pool. A great team of staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Very comfortable room; excellent breakfasts as was dinner on the night we dined in the onsite restaurant.

The location is great and nearby all sorts of attractions. Our cottage were private and spacious. Out stay at Country Guesthouse truly exceeded our expectations. Oh and the croissants were soooo freshly baked, breakfast was scrumptious to say the least.

There is an extra blanket in each room but more blankets would have been nice. We didn't want to keep the aircons on during the night and it gets freezing during Winter nights. 😉

Excellent location, within easy reach of the wine farms in Stellenbosch. Very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Lovely grounds and excellent patio to watch the sunsets. We didn't use the pool as the weather wasn't great, but it looked nice, clean and well maintained. The rooms have very comfortable beds, mini fridge, tea/coffee, decent size wine glasses and a complimentary bottle of wine and bottled water. There is a TV, but we didn't turn it on. Good Wi-Fi and a stunning breakfast each morning. They have a nice restaurant on site, but we only had breakfast there.

We were in Room 1. The bathroom is in need of some renovation and a little more TLC would go a long way in making the accommodation outstanding. Little things like the plug missing from the basin, dirt trapped in the grouting and around the shower screen. A dangerous hole where the drainage trap is, missing shelves, etc. Our friends in Room 2 and 3 also had bathrooms that need renovations and TLC. In Room 2, the curtains had not been put back in place properly and she had to re-hook them in order for them to close. The locks on the patio doors are a bit flimsy and hard to open. The garden needs a little bit of weeding, but other than that, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay.

The individual rooms/units were very spacious and comfortable and private. The pool was lovely in a beautiful garden surrounding. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was also great to have although make sure you book ahead for lunches and dinners. Location was just off a main road so didn’t feel like you were in the middle of nowhere.

Bathrooms need a bit of renovation but not bad at all

Wat a lovely small resort and winefarm, with a nice pool (area) in a beautifull colonial style building. Spacious rooms. With a nice veranda/porch to spend the evening outside. Very nice staff. Very good restaurant. One of our best stays in South-Africa.

Doesn't really feel like a still running winefarm, but more a very, very nice and lovely place to stay. While being surrounded by winefarms. Again: an amazing stay, would come here for sure again.

Very spacious room, superior garden view, very comfy beds, wifi good enough, and very quiet (except for the squirrels on the roof at night, though that was cute)

The reception overall was a bit unwelcoming. In the restaurant we felt being treated as additional guests. Breakfast there was ok. But the general feeling was that they weren’t really waiting for guests. Like the rooms in the domain were just some extra burden. Luckely, the rooms were excellent!

This was our 2nd time at this beautiful picturesque, tranquil guesthouse with breathtaking mountain, sunset and vineyard views. This time we stayed in the Family suite and the space is just beautiful. Decorated in a mix of antique and modern vibe. The breakfast at 96 Winery which is also situated on the property was superb as always and because we had to check out earlier cute breakfast packs were arranged for us. Whether you go for business or a break, this is certainly the place you want to be at. The most helpful and supporting staff is always available on the premises and they really do go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. PS: The complimentary ice cold bottle of Ken Forrester Rose is always appreciated especially after such a long trip. The vineyard is just across the road if you would like to incorporate wine tasting in your intinerary A short reel will soon be on my Insta page @forty-overhaul.

The fact that we could not stay longer

The rooms are set in a beautiful garden with meandering paths, lawns & a delightful pool area. We had views of the vineyard & table mountain & the sunsets from our patio were stunning. The room was spacious, comfortable but a little dated. There were no issues with load shedding as they have generators when needed. Each room has an allocated, shaded car parking space and the restaurant was just a short walk away. The breakfasts were delicious. We loved the Country Guesthouse as it is so well laid out & so relaxing. A complimentary bottle of Rose wine was very welcome. We look forward to returning.

The rooms were a little dated & could do with a revamp.

Lovely spacious unit, wished there was another couch to stretch out on, there is the space for it! And it would be great if we were offered to include milk (more than the little boxes provided - not enough for 3 adults and two kids).

The plugs are very far from the bed so extension cables would be great to be able to use your phone or tablet while in bed.
