Our room didn't have a view as the best ones do. It wasn't very private as it was the first room and other guests were often passing. I was under the impression that all rooms were the same standard and price. At reception, I was told that we were in the unit called Pinotage. When we got there we found that Pinotage consisted of a few rooms. We found Pinotage 4 open and went in. It was spacious with a balcony and grea tviews. My girlfriend was super impressed with her Valentines surprise. As my girlfriend and I lay on the bed cuddling, some guests walked in. How embarrassing. I suggested that reception tells guests clearly that there are a few rooms and that the number is on the back of the key. I know that I should've contacted reception to make sure

The most beautiful estate to stay in if you love wine and golf,Beautiful walks and scenery, Breakfast was amazing and so were the staff. joined to the wine estate is the golf estate where the golf club restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is affordable and really good. There are many seating areas to sit in winter next to cosy fires and lovely outside areas to eat in summer with spectacular views over the golf course, the wine tasting is amazing and they serve Italian crackers with your tasting , you can also order a cheese or meat platter which is very tasty. I would highly recommend this lodge. staff are very friendly too and access to Stellanbosh is a 10 min drive and about R85 in an uber

They give you 2 bottles of water to welcome you in the fridge but seeing as its 5 star I do think they should replace every day as we stayed there for 4 nights. Also a Nespresso machine in the rooms would be fantastic. They need to check if people need drinks by the pool more often, we were left for 1.5 hours with no-one checking. The Dstv box is on top of the tv in the room and looks very messy for a 5 star it needs to be neatened up.

The little houses with the guests‘ rooms that are named after wines we’re really nicely decorated. We had an exceptionally nice Mountain View from the windows! The pool and the surroundings are also calming and well groomed. Breakfast also turned out to be a highlight for us!

Everything was perfect, however we were surprised by being offered an included wine tasting at the evening of the checkout. Sadly, as we did not know about that earlier, we were not able to join that. Would have been great to know about that in advance.

Front of desk manager at reception was brilliant. Golf clubhouse staff also great. Complementary wine tasting was a nice touch.

Heavy construction immediately outside the room (and builders smoking and sitting in our chairs). Some of the security staff on front gates were unfriendly to the point of being confrontational (including when we arrived at the gate for the first time to check in - not a great welcome to De Zalze). Watch out for astronomically high laundry charges.

Though the vineyards (wine tastings) close at 5, the residents complimentary tasting at De Zalze can happen till 6. They didn’t say this initially but is good to know. We loved being able to walk across the road to another vineyard rather than get a cab (25 min walk and felt safe). We also loved walking to the golf club (again 25 min walk) to have some dinner and drinks till late- the sunset from there was amazing. Hotel and pool were incredible, breakfast - wow!!

Silicone was moulded at bottom of shower which made the shower leak badly. Floor was completely wet post showering which made it very hazardous to try and walk out of bathroom

The place was really classy and exquisite. The family really loved it we usually visit the Western Cape in January and this was one of those memorable vacations we have ever had, a whole 7days in De Zalze was great for everyone.

Nothing that I can recall.

The view over the vineyards was amazing. The absolute tranquility from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town was superb, whilst at the same time not being far from the activity and the wine routes - Staff were all super friendly and the food was out of this world. A stroll around the estate early one morning was filled with birdsong and fresh air and beautiful grounds. Love It!

There was nothing that we didn't like.

Pool area was stunning. The breakfasts were great and the location is excellent. Just about every vineyard is within 15 km of the resort. The local golf club restaurant has stunning views and very reasonable prices

The food can improve. It was a bit bland. The waiters and waitresses can be a bit more friendly. Also the decor in the room can improve say add an orchid on the main desk by the TV. Small things could add warmth.
