A very lovely and beautiful place. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every moment. The large property gives plenty of room to relax and reset. The room itself was very spacious and even though it was away from home, it had that something that made it feel like home. Coming back after a day out felt like coming home, with coffee on the bench in the garden and relaxing together. The hostess and staff were amazing. So friendly and accommodating. Not the normal friendly because it's their job type. The real deal caring. They seem to love the place on a personal level and it shows. Definitely recommend it if you want that home away from home experience. - Johannes & Hillary

Wonderful, authentic, old Cape Dutch heritage home, sympathetically restored and maintained, with yellow wood beams and ceiling boards, period furniture and collectables. Set in a lovely, large established, traditionally landscaped garden. Exactly what we were looking for.
Probably not for you if you need all the "mod' con's" like flat screen TV, DSTV, air con, etc., but absolutely perfect for us. Traffic noise.

Lizette and Estelle are wonderful hosts. The house, the garden and the cottage where we stayed are very charming. It’s like traveling to another time. They put fresh flowers to the room. We even enjoyed the pool for which extra bath towels were provided. The location is good and secure. Wi-Fi worked. They allowed us to have a late check out which was highly appreciated. And it was possible to park the car directly in front of our door. Thanks for everything!
The shower was a bit dark but nothing to complain about. Everything was fine :)

This apartment in a converted stable is super comfortable. The space was well-furnished and had everything we needed for our short stay. The gardens are beautiful and wonderful to wander through. We loved the bench swing at the pool and the smell of roses throughout the garden. The location is great, just at the edge of town with easy access to everything you need.
The shower is a little dark and we could hear the water running in the apartment next door, but that was so minor and didn't make our stay any less comfortable.

Everything was beyond our exspectations. The owner Lizette and her family were so kind and welcoming. They shared with us their special evening dinner of Snoek and sweet potatoes. What a treat. The old farmhouse is most delightfully decorated with old Dutch flavor and history. The garden is full of flowers and special places to rest. Pool was very cold, but refreshing.
The photos on booking.com don't give credits to the beautiful rooms and the interior of the house.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Lizette. She took us around the homestead and shared the deep and interesting history of the homestead. It was very comfortable and had all we needed, very well stocked. The gardens are so peaceful with benches to sit out in the garden. We met the lovely Estelle the next morning. For the price it is well worth it. We will definitely be back again.

Amazing place to stay! Definitely best guesthouse in Swellendam! We stayed for two nights at Lizettes guesthouse as a couple. We felt most homely from the very first second! Lizette and the entire staff payed great attention to smallest details and helped us a lot with any kinds of organization and activity planning! The beautiful little farm house is perfectly situated in swellendam, offers a nice little garden and lovely, cozy, clean and spacious bedrooms! Too bad we could only stay for two nights! Next time we’ll stay longer! Definitely would’ve booked it again!

The cottage is lovely but a bit cold. Gorgeous gardens and main house. Very comfortable beds & very friendly host who arranged for us to check in early.
There are no real cooking facilities & we had expected to be able to self cater. The cottage is right on the main road, so there is a fair bit of road noise. The little kitchen & everything in it needs a bit of a clean.

We were warmly welcomed by Lizette on arrival and appreciated the little touches - personal welcome note, fresh flowers and yummy rusks for our morning coffee. Lizette even gave us a tour of the main farmhouse which is a national historic monument. Lizette checked in with us a number of times over our 2 days ensuring we were warm, comfortable and kept us up to date on the load shedding power schedule. We stayed in one of the self catering stable annex rooms which was quaint and rustic. We felt like we had been taken back in time to the 50’s living a real farm life. The beds had fresh white linen and warm down duvets. The wall heater was great given it was mid winter. The kitchenette had what we needed for a 2 night stay. Situated just off the main road and close to city centre- this was ideal as a mid way stop between the garden route and Cape Town.

We did not have or expect breakfast. We were warmly welcomed and continuously kept informed regarding load shedding times and other practical matters. We were graciously given a tour of the main house. The property is beautiful with extensive grounds and gardens well cared for.
One electric socket in the kitchen of our unit in "the stables" had to suffice for microwave, kettle and toaster; and removing one plug and then putting in another was difficult because it was a tight fit. An extension with two or three plugs, screwed into the wall alongside the existing ones would be a great help. 2 bowls for dessert / soup / porridge would also be helpful.
