June 2024

My 18-year-old son stayed in this hostel for his first solo holiday abroad. It was a great base for his adventure and people were friendly so he found folk to pal about with. On his last evening he was a victim to pickpockets when he was out in the town. The thieves stole his wallet, locker key and mobile phone so he had no money and no means to contact us or get his boarding pass. He told the staff about what had happened and they were EXCEPTIONAL. They helped him retrieve his passport from the locker, cancel his Monzo card, check his flight details and contacted us. Even though it was well into the early hours of the morning. They helped him make his way to the police to place a report, and to the airport. We are hugely grateful, especially to Mikel and the woman on the night reception desk.

We loved staying in this part of San Sebastian. Gros is surrounded by local bars and restaurants and had a great vibe. The beach is only 5 mins walk away. The free buffet breakfast is decent, and the kitchen doubles as a workspace after 11am which was helpful

They take water conservation very seriously, which is great, but the 30-second button on the shower was almost a deal breaker for me. For one night, it would be fine, but for 6 days, it became tedious when washing saltwater from my hair. A washing machine would be super helpful as the local laundry was 8 euro a wash and 4 euro to dry. Also, I left my Samsung watch at the property, I could see this on find my watch, but no one has returned my emails.

Clean , relaxed hostel (so happy that its not a party people place , just chilled out people who spend their day on the beach swimming or surfing and the evening chilling out ) very well organised rooms , with comfy beds , lovely staff, very good breakfast with good coffee. I saw families with kids also staying there . In a very nice spanish family orientated neighbourhood . Overall a good spot for people who want a relaxed stay.

At 50 euro a night , the hostel is making 400euro on an 8 bed dorm. The price could be cheaper.

Nice staff, always listening and ready to help Amazing location, 10 mn walk to bus station, 5 mn walk to playa Zurriola and 10-15 mn walk to Playa la concha. Many markets and restaurants around, very lively and safe neighborhood It was very clean, well decorated with nice common area The feminine shared room wasn’t very big, but warm, comfortable and calm. There was no noise from other rooms or from people sharing the room The room have its own bathroom and wc, the bed was comfortable, and sheets warm. There’s a locker for each bed but bring a lock pad The breakfast was simple yet sufficient: toasts, cheese, charcuterie, fruits, cake and cookies, coffee, milk, juices, cornflake.. I was so satisfied with the stay and I highly recommend

I have a small remark : the shower could be changed cuz you cannot control the quantity of water coming out or the duration, a manual one would be better

Nice kitchen, dining room, patio and common areas. Beds were comfortable. Good breakfast.

Because I was walking the Camino del Norte, I was surprised to find they didn't have any facilities to wash clothes or anyplace to hang them to dry (other than patio furniture or railings). The sinks in the bathroom were tiny so it made washing out clothes difficult. I hung my clothes to dry over the patio furniture and railings. I'd say this is more of a tourist hostel

- location is ideal! close to train station, beach, and a pleasant walk from the old town - the staff was some of the nicest people i've met!! friendly, helpful, incredibly nice - comfortable beds and facilities - clean, especially the bathrooms, which is very appreciated - free breakfast was delicious

- maybe not as social as i would have liked but to be fair it was off season and not really the fault of the hostel, there are shared spaces there to socialize - there were a few mosquitoes in the room but they didn't bite, just worth nothing - this is a personal pet peeve of mine and privileged as hell but i HATE making my own bed at hostels hahahhaha

Staff are really helpful. Decent spread of food for continental breakfast. Great neighbourhood. First floor ensuite double room is quite spacious and has a very good, hot shower. Double layer of curtains to keep room dark. Locked luggage room. Good view of the tambourada in January, which stops directly below room.

No sound insulation from the tambourada, and got woken up by other guests chatting/entering the building. Had to use curtains a lot for privacy. Another guest mentioned the hostel sadly doesn’t organise social events any more.

Nice hostel near to the ocean area. Super friendly and helpfull staff, decent breakfast in a friendly atmosphere with the other guests. We were travelling by car and there a a few parking garages nearby. The old town is just a short walk to enjoy the pintxos San Sebastian has to offer. San Sebastian is a great city, this time we were only passing through. Can recommend both the hostel and the city.

The location was good. Even the staff were great. I reached at 3am (my bus got delayed), and they were waiting to check me in, even though their reception closes early. Breakfast was good too. And the lounge area with multiple levels of seating was chill.

The bathroom situation - being near the beach, people are gonna be using the shower often. I wish there were atleast 2 showers, or a common shower space for all dorms as we had to wait.

Excellent hostal, location too. The staff were extremely helpful, and it's a really nice Hostel, superb value for money and an exceptional breakfast included in the price, funky common areas to relax and all the necessary facilities in the bunk rooms...changing point in the bunk, small shelf, curtain for privacy, and bathroom/toilet too. We stayed 2 nights so we could spend a day looking around San Sebastián and couldn't have chosen a better place as a base to relax..
