Excellent well balanced breakfast. Very attentive staff and very good additional hot items.

The hotel felt like a rabbit warren so clear signage could have been much better. Parking should be included in the cost. It was an unexpected addition at check out.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful historical property near Trajan's Arc in the city of Merida. Its location makes it easy to walk around the historical center of the city, while also close to some of Merida's best restaurants and nightspots. Rooms are ample and comfortable. The hotel has one of the most sophisticated restaurants in town, mixing old style Extremaduran and Spanish cuisine with cosmopolitan flavors. The place is a great showcase of regional hospitality and charm. The staff is attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Hotel parking, while somewhat expensive, is quite ample and accesible. A very attractive and unique hotel that blends history with modern comforts.

Hotel beds were not terrible but they weren't very comfortable or inviting, either. Reservations are required for the breakfast buffet, which appears to be a cost saving measure but can be tricky to plan if one is to also enjoy Merida's very active and intense nightlife the evening before.

Didn't have breakfast. Historic building. Near train station (3 blocks). Food looked good, but we didn't eat there.

Front door or entrance is more of a back door. Taxi driver and car pick-up were both confused. The front entrance = car park is closed unless you have a car and can operate the door. To walk from one entrance to the other is almost 3 blocks! Just the way the building is set-up. A pedestrian door to the parking area would solve this. Maybe there is one and we can't find it (?)

It was my first time to stay in a parador. It was lovely to stay in a historic building in the center of town. The actual room was charming and traditionally decorated -- and we had a view of the pool.

The pedestrian entrance of the hotel was difficult to find. Google led us from the train station directly to the gate for vehicles. Once inside the property, we had a hard time finding the reception area due to the size of the hotel. They could have improved the signage within the hotel.

The hotel was comfortable enough given that it’s in a historic building that could render it less so. Our room was classic and old fashioned in the right sense of the term as it was in keeping with the building. It was good value for money and parking was easy (for a nightly fee). The location meant we got to enjoy this amazing little town easily on foot. The buzzy modern town is delightful with people going about their business and families out on weekends. The Roman remains were a revelation, so accessible, extensive and fascinating. The Roman bridge is an absolute wonder.

Nothing.

It having been a while since we had stayed in a parador, Merida did not disappoint. We were greeted by a delightful young woman and her mentor (the former having only been in post for 2 hours.) Registration process was very efficient, but also personal. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. We dined that evening, and were most impressed with our meal, and also had the opportunity to have a conversation with the chef. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent.

Great location in the centre of Merida . Secure underground parking for motorcycle 10 euro per night . Beautiful historic building and very tastefully decorated especially the communal spaces. Friendly staff . Glass of local Extremadura cava in the bar a very reasonable 3.50 euro .

Only one negative was the 19 euro per person breakfast. It was disappointing. Was expecting a higher standard for the price. We had better free breakfast at the eurostar hotels . On our second day we went to a cafe round the corner and had far better coffee and toasted sandwiches for less than 7 euro in total.

Never having stayed at a Parador before decided to give it a try. We also wanted to visit Merida on our way down to the south of Spain. The location was fantastic and within easy walking of all the main sights. The hotel was fantastic and truly enjoyable. The restaurants and food were amazing. A brilliant stay that I will remember for a long time.

The only downside of the visit was because of the time of the year, the air conditioning was switched off. Our room was at 26 degrees when we went to bed. The doors onto the balcony did not have any mosquito screens, so couldn't be left open.

Fantastic location and parking available. Staff were very nice and helpful. Recommend sauna reservation! The historical charm is very memorable.

General maintenance and investment could be improved. Specifically the bathrooms and pool area felt dated.

The reception staff, especially Isabel, were extraordinarily kind and helpful. The breakfast room staff welcomed us at the very last minute after we overslept. The public spaces are generous and comfy, and the bar was a nice refuge. The location gives easy access both to the historic sites and to the pleasant, real-life city and its pedestrian streets and shops. Merida is good for tourists, but they don't own the place.

The hotel cannot be blamed for the hot weather, or the fact that it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the outdoor dining room at 8:30 when we had dinner, and we could easily have chosen to dine in the handsome, cool dining room indoors. There were rather many Brits about but the staff knew how to deal with that. The pool is tiny, but the water was cool on the scorching day, in spite of the fact that there was very little shade before late afternoon.
