Hotel Rua Villar

This was my second time to stay at Hotel Rua Villar and it was even better than my first visit. Sandra on reception was very friendly, making me feel very welcome with a big smile and greeting upon arrival, after finishing the Camino. The location is very close to the Cathedral and there are plenty of restaurants on the same street and a supermarket about two minutes away at the bottom of Rua Villar. The beds are soft and comfortable, the rooms clean & the Wifi free and fast. The hotel is in the old part of town but very close to the more modern section too. On my Camino walk, I stayed in many places along the way but Hotel Rua Villar was the best by far and an excellent place to relax in warm cosy atmosphere for a great price. What I liked best about Hotel Rua Villar and the reason I returned there, is the staff, they are lovely and take such good care of you, it feels like they really give you their personal best during your visit, and this is something that is priceless, in my opinion. I am already looking forward to going back there the next time I am in town. You will not regret staying here, it is wonderful.

As ever, the 2 greatest benefits of Hotel Rua Villar are its location and staff. The hotel is just beside the cathedral and seems to be central to everything you might wish to see in Santiago. And I could not think of anyone more friendly and helpful than Sandra, Christina and Jose on the reception desk - they just make you want to return time and time again! Thank you :-)

Written from the perspective of a pilgrim Staff was crazy welcoming. We arrived early and had all sorts of needs and questions. The staff was so helpful and welcoming that we felt like we'd arrived at a distant cousin's home or something. The room was amazing. It was larger than any room we've stayed in with a big bed, an armchair, a sofa, tables and a desk and yet room to move around. Plus, a small traditional glassed in balcony with chairs and a small table. Bathroom. Great shower with bathtub. Yes, we took baths. Lighting. Maybe the best lighting we've experienced. Location. Right in the center and yet quiet. It's an easy walk around the old or to the new town.

I regret staying only one night. We had reservations at another hotel and moved there for the next two nights. More money, more stars, and not as good.

Staff were amazing, incredibly friendly, welcoming and smiley, from the receptionists to the cleaners. Hotel is charming and set in a very old, traditionnal building. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Location spot on! Can’t get any more central but is also an inconvenience with suitcases, you have to walk about 500m to get there. You can get equally good accomodation for less but this hotel is very pleasant.

Top floor of hotel is very hot when sun shines, which makes top floor bedrooms hot, too. Although there is aircon in the bedrooms they should find a further solution to cool down. cleaners are a bit noisy in the mornings

Loved this hotel, the room was perfect for a solo traveller, clean and cosy, I liked it so much I have booked back in there for the last two days of my trip. The staff were very friendly especially Jose, who was brilliant and provided me with lots of information and a map of the town. The place feels like a home from home. I would definitely recommend it to travellers and have already told a fellow pilgrim about it today. The location is great, right beside the Cathedral.

First of all I want to thank the reception staff for their immediate reaction and help in quite a dramatic situation for me. At check in I realised that I had lost all my documents and cards on a bus, so I was considerably shaken. The lady at the desk immediately took care of the problem. I really appreciate her professional approach and empathy. It really helped me to calm down and and then enjoy our stay and the rest of our trip. I am much obliged! The hotel also exceeded my expectations. It is located in the heart of the historical part of Santiago, right next to the Cathedral. From our windows we had a view to the temple's towers and to the charming hotel patio with its amazing glass roof. The room was a perfect mix of stylish elegance and practical convenience. It had enough space to feel comfortable, the spotlessly clean and bright bathroom had a very wide range of toiletries (even a toothbrush). We felt very relaxed here. It was a pity that we could only spend two nights there. If we ever come back to Santiago this will be our first choice!

The location of this lovely hotel is wonderful, around the corner from the Cathedral, in a quiet, historic street (at night); daytime step out in to a gentle bustle and hustle of local and tourist life. The accommodation was spacious, spotless; the bathroom had plenty of hot water and a great shower. The bed was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lift was very useful for luggage albeit tiny! The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We didn't have breakfast so we cannot comment. There was nothing about our stay that we didn't like.

Right in the heart of the old town. I was lucky to have a top floor room with a ceiling window that opened up and had a view of the cathedral. The bell tower ringing was an added plus reminding me of the history of where I was. The front desk staff were so helpful and give me hints of interesting things to see and not miss.

Parking was a ways away. But to be expected for an old city and wanting to stay in the old part.

Room was very clean with big bathroom and big shower. The entire hotel was exceptionally nice. The front desk staff were awesome. They helped me locate the bus stop to the airport and let me keep my backpack at the hotel after my checkout time because I had an evening flight. Breakfast was very good. This is a great hotel!

Location was incredible keep in mind you will hear bells throughout the night, but it didn't bother me, staff was amazing from the time that I arrived until the time that I left everyone was super helpful. I didn't do the breakfast buffet, but I did a la carte which it was good for me. And you have plenty of restaurants nearby. If i ever have the chance to go back, I will book the same Hotel.
