New Siam II for me was a perfect alternative to all the luxury, modern highrise hotels in Bangkok. I wanted to give my kids a feeling how it is when you backpack through Asia. It is not as basic as I remember back in the 80's and 90's, but you can still taste the atmosphere here. Relaxed and safe walking distance (10 minutes) to Khao san rd. Rooms with good airconditioning. And a swimming pool which is much appreciated when coming back from walking to all the nearby sights. Rooms are a bit smaller then in the pics. Good breakfast. Don't forget to go to China town in the evenings for good food!! I would go back here anytime.

Crappy taxi's in front of the hotel that want to drive you around but refuse to use their meter. We used GRAB (sort of UBER) which worked well.

The location was fantatstic, 5 minute walk to a local ferry gets you to most places you want to see in the city as a 'tourist'. The staff were very helpful and always happy to see our young daughters. The rooms were cleaned when requested and overall were perfect for our 'low budget' stay. Swimming pool was ideal for our family to cool down from the humid Bangkok heat and breakfast (included) had some very good options for all of us and was plentiful.

Prior to our arrival i checked to make sure the hotel accepted card. It confirmed it did. Upon our arrival the card machine had stopped working that day taking a huge chunk out of out cash reserve. My advice is always prepare to pay in cash as you can not be sure card will be taken.

Good room size and good air-con Fridge in room was excellent. Bottle of water gratis. Good beds and very good bedding .....firm but comfortable and OK for us. Excellent location for Khaosan road and other bars. Quiet but near food and bars (5 mins) Pool looks good (but not used this time) Wifi Ok most of the time Staff were very helpful with any issues (Ants) Restaurant had a good selection if ordered individually We will return (March 2023) but only if we have a room with no ants Overall this hotel is an excellent place to stay in Bangkok for the price paid.

Our room facing the main road even on the 5th floor it was a bit noisy Ants in the room. Even given spray by staff they still came out of everywhere. Reception acknowledged the issue so....hopefully will deal appropriately for our next visit

Nice location, quiet at night, bus 15 across the street will bring you to SIAM CENTER (main shopping mall in downtown Bangkok = Non AC 8 baht per person, AC BUS 15 BAHT per person) & you can take a left outside the main entrance (where 15 bus runs on both sides) and as you turn left just walk 22 minutes STRAIGHT and you'll end up at the GRAND PALACE to do an early tour ( opens at 830 a.m. and I did a fun hour taking pictures etc for 500 baht a person to enter and did the reclining Budda also (WAT PHO = 200 baht entrance fee). Beds, staff, elevator etc were all nice at New Siam 2.

Nothing really, Thailand and the Thai people are all very friendly and nice. I always enjoy traveling this country. Come see this beautiful country.

We have been staying at the New Siam II for almost 20 years. The staff are always exceptionally helpful and the price is always reasonable. We had a blocked toilet during this stay, but the maintenance staff were swiftly despatched to deal with the problem. If you want basic and comfortable accommodation, with welcoming staff, then this is your place. If you want a little bit more, choose the New Siam Riverside just across the road.

The hotel is a guest house located near the river and Kaosan area. We booked it due to the position and we really wanted a pool, as it's nice to have a dip after a hot Bangkok day. We had 2 rooms and they were fine for what we paid. Each had private bathrooms, A/C and a safe. The beds weren't great, but we did sleep well. The pool was excellent. The lobby atmosphere was what we really liked: with many hotels they are very "hotel like", i..e quiet lobby that you use to pass through, however this was much more like I remember my backpacking days, as the lobby was open all around, with a restaurant and front desk, pool, taxis and all. For us it was what we were looking for. Would we stay again? For the budget, yes. If we wanted to splash out double, the hotel next door was was class but less atmosphere.

I loved my stay at new Siam II. For around 10 Euros per night, you know you cannot expect great luxuries, and in that way the New Siam II really exceeded expectations imo. Nice, clean rooms, a well functioning shower, working air-conditioning. The public areas such as restaurant, seating area and pool where nice, clean and inviting. The staff was very friendly and willing to help, as well. Location is also very convenient, central, and nice. The restaurant offered nice food for a decent price. I found nothing whatsoever to complain about.

not really a criticism, but the area can be noisy. I still found it easy to relax. Also, what can you expect for this kind of price.

I've been staying here whenever i pass though Bangkok, on and off for 12 years, and New Siam II is always my most reliable option. Rooms are generally quiet, but some city-view rooms get morning traffic noise. The riverside breakfast buffet has nice views and is a great value. you can buy the discounted ticket at reception and the breakfast is across the street.

Stayed here many times in the past. Rooms are spacious and clean and the staff very helpful and pleasant

Just as we left, the hotel changed the strategy for breakfast. They severely reduced the a la carte menu and stuck 50% on the prices. I guess they only want to be bothered with the buffet breakfast you can get included in the room rate.

Internet was the worst in all our 3 month travel in Asia. Constantly dropping out and need to re connect Very poor for Bangkok One lift not working despite several days of engineers work Very limited sunbeds at the pool
