We LOVED the staff. Everyone that works there is wonderful. Shout-out to the breakfast crew and Aziz, who felt like a friend by the end of the trip. The staff honestly made our visit to Tunisia that much better because they were so enjoyable to be around and always willing to help with anything. The bed was also comfortable, the location was unbeatable, and the breakfast was wonderful. They even arranged a driver to pick us up as our flight landed at 2am. It made things so much more comfortable and easy for us.
The lockbox in our room didn't work.

I had been traveling for four months all over the world before I arrived here, and this was my FAVORITE spot to that point. Beautiful, beautiful building. Amazing staff. Amazing breakfast (which also managed to serve as my lunch and dinner because they give you SO much). Great location. The owner of the hotel talked to my uber/bolt driver in French for me since I only speak a little, and walked me out to meet him. I'd a million percent stay here again, and hope to one day. All in all Tunis was just a great place. (if you're a solo female traveler like me, this city is perfectly safe, no trouble at all, and everyone is super helpful) Stay here!!

The building is very interesting from the architectural point of view. Each floor and each room has its own design. Its restoration managed to respect 100% the history of the building and the initial design of it. Amazing internal gardens and roofgarden, vast rooms with nice natural light, old nice furnitures are some of the elements I admired most in this hotel. The location was very convenient and the breakfast was delicious and rich and of high quality. It was phantastic that was not time restriction for the time of breakfast. Also Neda in the reception with her beatiful smile was always ready to answer any question and to help. She offered limonade for free in very warm midday hours that I found very human.
They could improve the wifi in the upper floor. Also some more attention to the cleaning of the lines and the towels. But the cleaning staff was very polite and responded in each request.

The hotel is located in a Dar, a historical building specific to the Medina, which offered us a unique experience through the services offered and attention to the details related to the environment. Very well maintained and clean. The breakfast was extraordinary with fresh and traditional products. They adapted very quickly to our requirements, as we did not want meat and sugary products. The reception personnel were very kind and helpful. They helped us with advice and guidance for the excursions in the surroundings, but also with the transfers. Specifically, Arbi, the driver, was very professional and helpful. He even helped us with useful advises, including buying plane tickets.

It was a privilege to be staying in a beautiful traditional family home in the heart of the old medina and just minutes walk from the harbour and cafes. The family (mother and father, three children, and two grandparents who make a delicious breakfast) were all friendly and welcoming, but not intruding on the privacy of our three rooms on the first floor. All spoke French and the mother and older children some English. My grandchildren (9 and 7) ended up playing the card game Uno with the two younger boys on the roof garden, communicating in sign language and learning some Arabic. What an enriching experience!
The wi-fi came and went a little, but this is a problem in Tunis generally, and not the fault of the owners. SAnd good for us not to have 100% access!

Beautiful, charming, and located in an excellent spot in the Medina next to cafe’s and shops that are part of the Medina’s revitalization area. The staff is the best part, especially the chef of the restaurant who came to understand I was traveling with 2 sick 18 year old boys (food poisoning from another city). He walked me across the Medina on a Sunday, from pharmacy to pharmacy until we found an open one. He talked fo the pharmacist about the boys should eat, and made special meals for them across their trip. I think he saved my son who was so sick .. he made a potatoes soup that disintegrated the potatoes into a water. He called it medicine. In 2 days, the boys were totally healed and able to take a 30 hour flight(s) home. The staff all went above and beyond. Also the chef’s food at the downstairs restaurant is delicious, I had the couscous and pastas and they were excellent. The breakfast was huge and delicious too. The a/c struggled a little but it was 115 degrees outside, but I do think they need to be upgraded. It’s totally fine for hanging out but a little warm for sleeping (or just have another fan in the room). We thank the staff and the Chef especially for taking such good care of us. And the place is IG photo ready.. so beautiful ❤️ by the way, the locals in Sidi Bou Said also told me it’s the best place for those wanting to stay in the Medina.
The a/c units should be upgraded in the rooms or a fan included. They were decent but no match for the heat waves of today

I was travelling for more than 20 years of my life, I have never felt welcome and at home as this hotel. I don`t know how to thank this beautiful and wonderful staff. You start your visit with the beautiful and smiley Nada who took us around in the hotel to show us the place, always there to ask if we are fine and need something, always super nice with our daughter. All the staff are so nice and helpful if we ask any question. We were trying food in the city but one day, we were so tired and decided to have dinner in the hotel. Usually, the dinner in any hotel are expensive and not so special but in this hotel, we had the best Couscous that I ever tested, and the best chef that will listen to you. He was trying to be sure that our daughter will enjoy her meal keep asking her if she needs something else. Since it was Ramadan he offered us a soup that I will never forgot it. Chef Abdul Majid Trabulssi was a treasure that we were so happy to meet and get to know. Don`t miss the dinner there and be sure that you will get to talk to the chef, he spent big part of his life abroad and the menu is including Tunisian and itnernational food. I was in Tunisia several times but this is the first time I stayed in this hotel, I will definitely came back again
I wish I can find anything that I didn`t like. I like everything

One of the most beautiful places in Medina. The building is amazing with a marvelous internal yard used as a restaurant. The room was excellent and very clean. They changed our towels every day. The neighborhood is safe and full of cafes and restaurants. Staff is great and so helpful. We felt so welcomed there!!!
Maybe some members of the staff should be more careful and do not argue each other in front of customers. It was a little bit annoying hearing fightings during lunch time,😉

Dar el Medina was a beautiful, friendly hotel in an old building in the Medina. As a solo female traveler, I especially liked the on site restaurant serving very good Tunisian and Italian dishes, so that I didn't have to worry about walking around at night. There are also several lively cafes on the street for more options. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, including when I needed to change my dates. The room was huge, with bedroom, sitting room, entry way and bathroom, and very strong wifi in the room. I had an excellent stay and highly recommend the Dar el Medina.
Not a negative, but something to be aware of. As with many places in the Medina, you can only reach it by foot. It's a very short walk to places where you can pick a taxi or Bolt (e.g. Place du Gouvernement).

The hotel is in a great position to visit the Medina; everything was clean, beautiful and very confortable. Breakfast was plentiful and good. The staff was exceptional: everyone made us feel like home. We had dinner at the restaurant on the panoramic terrace twice because we loved it! A special mention to chef majid: he talked in perfect Italian and helped us in countless ways. They also arrange an early breakfast at 5 am because we had an early flight. If you are in Tunisi, you must stay here!
