Really nice place with lovely patterned aesthetic and a friendly atmosphere. My room was simple but clean, the bed was comfortable and everything works fine, including WiFi. The communal toilets and showers are all clean and the hot water works very well (which I was surprised at). The staff are all very friendly and one of them (Youssef) speaks very good English. It's in the Medina so is well located for walking around the city centre. The main thing for me though was that they also offer an 'excursions' service where one of them will personally drive you to any of the main sites in northern Tunisia, for a very reasonable price (the best I've found for solo travellers). For Dougga, for instance, they'll drive you there for €80, compared to €170 I've been quoted by other tour companies for a solo traveller. Youssef is also very flexible and makes an effort to ensure you see everything you want to see. On the whole, would recommend.

The location in the Medina means it can be difficult to find at first, including for taxi drivers (it's best to tell them to go to the nearby Kasbah Square and then walk from there).

The host is very VERY polite. The building is gorgeous and breakfast was yummy. It’s very easy to reach the hotel from the Medina, just follow the big rue to get back out of the souk.

The rooms are private, but the windows do not have glass. AKA this means that when someone knocks on the door to come inside (the key does not open the front door, the host comes to greet you) you will hear everything. Not that I wasn’t able to fall asleep, but I would have brought earplugs if I knew. The shower wasn’t the worst I’ve ever seen, but, the hose holder was not working.

This place provides everything you need to feel welcome in Tunis. You can expect features typically found in a home-style boutique hotel rather than luxury hotels. It is clean, comfortable, and charming. The staff are not only warm and welcoming, but they also genuinely care about you. When I returned to the hotel late at night, they even sent someone to accompany me from the taxi to the hotel. I truly appreciated their thoughtfulness.

The only thing that might bother you is the sound echoing in the central yard. It could be staff preparing breakfast or guests chatting on their phones. I understand that echoing is characteristic of this architecture, but perhaps we could all be more considerate, especially during late nights and early mornings.

The location of Dar Ya is awesome in the middle of the Medina (very close to the main sights), at the same time it is very quiet because it is located in a side street. Both the room and the shared spaces were very clean. Last but not least an honorable mention for all the staff which are incredibly and genuinely kind. They are also very knowledgeable of Tunis and the suburbs and are very reliable when organising transfers from and to the airport. They really made my stay special and made me feel as if I was at a friend's place. I highly recommend Dar Ya if you are visiting Tunis and are looking for a central but quiet place.

Keep in mind that you should bring your own towels, nevertheless you can buy or borrow some at the reception. Just ask the staff 😉

The staff is just amazing! Very hospitable and attentive to their guests. When I was asking for an additional breakfast yoghurt (after having had 2 already) and there was none left, Asdin would go and get two more for me at the closest supermarket. Ayshek! ;) Most arriving guests were visibly stunned by the interior, also the roof-top terrace is nice to sit in the morning/evening. Moreover, the location is perfect for exploring the Medina (easy to get a taxi until Kasbah and walk 5 min to Dar Ya).

The bathrooms are shared, but toilets/showers were never occupied. Breakfast is very sweet, but all in all my family and I loved the accommodation.

Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff! We requested for airport pick up and drop off - thanks a lot to Mr. Youssef for the service. We also received great recommendations for traditional dining within the medina - this was important, especially we stayed during Christmas holiday.

Wifi didn't reach our room (not a major concern, since it's easy to connect in the common areas) If guests wish to use the fridge, they must label their bags properly. We lost some of the food we placed in the fridge. One of the guests may have thought it's food available for anyone.

Great location and amazingly helpful staff. Had a nice community feel to it with all the guests coming together over breakfast in the shared courtyard

It was a little noisy because of the hard floors so everything echoed. Basically, as soon as the first person got up, you were awake.

We had an enjoyable stay at Dar Ya. The staff was super kind and helpful. The place is a beautiful old-style house located in the medina of Tunis so you can pass the beautiful narrow alleys and easily reach all the attractions on foot I enjoyed the breakfast and I should add that the building is well equipped, has enough bathrooms and showers, and has a nice rooftop. You would feel very comfortable here.

I should indicate that the air conditioning mentioned in the list of facilities for our room was only a fan, which did not fully condition our room of six beds in the hot season. It is also good to know that cars can not get to the house, therefore, you need to be ready for a short walk with your luggage.

Cozy, authentic architecture, that gives you a perfect base for experiencing the culture of Tunisia. The rooftop is perfect for silent evenings, while overlooking the whole Medina. The staff is always friendly and try their best to help you out. We had our reservations about the shared toilets, but they are plenty and always clean. Overall a place to recommend.

The rooms had very little privacy due to the windows directly to the breakfast area in the middle of the house. Additionaly, there's no window to the outside, wich leaves with either inviting the whole house to watch you sleeping, or waking up with air thick enough to cut through.

I liked the design the colours, the furniture and the building itself the most. The staffs were so kind and helpful. They were cheerful and hospitable. I asked whether there was drinkable water in the room and the receptionist said there was none but he can give his bottle of water for me. I also checked in very late almost in the morning and the latest breakfast time was 9:30 am. I told them it is too early for me and they said they can provide breakfast for me. It was really nice of them. They served me breakfast and did care of me a lot. I appreciate to Arzettin, Leila and the others for this nice behaviours. They made my experience became great.

The only thing I didn't like was there was no toilet paper. They were not refilled during the night. In the morning there was common one for all.
