Beautiful cottage with far reaching views across Lake Windermere and the mountains from our bedroom window. A truly outstanding peaceful location. Liz and Chris were perfect hosts and welcomed us into their beautiful home. A great selection of food available for breakfast and the cooked breakfast was amazing quality using local produce. Very comfortable bed and large bathroom, both spotlessly clean. Lots of extras in the room with stocks being replenished each day. We loved our stay so much we have booked a return visit next year. Thank you Liz and Chris 😁

Great place to stay. A bit remote but accessible. Having a car is helpful especially if late night returns are planned after a long day outside. Great to get a rural vibe. You get the best views in the morning especially during winter - lake with ice capped mountains. The cottage has two rooms but adequate privacy. Room is cleaned everyday, bathroom is spotless with supplies in room refilled everyday. Both Chris and Liz put in a lot of effort to maintain the service, more than you would find in most hotels/b&b. Breakfast is filling and cooked by Liz which is great.

Position ( on banks of Windermere), mountain and lake views, peace and quiet, beautiful old cottage, classic furniture and ornaments, stunning bedroom, special atmosphere, intelligent, friendly hosts who were happy to share their lovely home with us . Fantastic breakfast both cooked and continental including cheese, meats, fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissant etc as well as cereals.
Nothing.

An excellent location over looking the lake, very peaceful and quite ideal to relax in the Lake District. Liz & Chris were perfect hosts providing an excellent breakfast, information about days out and places to eat. The room was very comfortable with homely touches. We really enjoyed our few days at Slack Cottage
The access road had a lot of pot holes, Liz had prewarned us before arriving so managed to avoid them.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The hosts are so welcoming and kind. Our room was very comfortable and had a great view over Windermere to Ambleside, with the Fairefield Horseshoe behind. It’s quiet and peaceful, with great walking on the doorstep.
Beautiful room and breakfast room. Welcoming. Great location. Quiet and peaceful. Fantastic breakfast. Good hosts. Great value for money.

The west side of Windermere is more rugged and nature-oriented, compared to Windermere east side which is more lively with more places to eat & drink, etc. Easy access by foot, via a 10-mile round- trip trek, to Wray Castle and Claife Viewing Station. The hosts are very nice and they offer a choice of Continental vs. English breakfast.
Access to the B&B by car is via the very busy Ambleside village, and is only recommended to very confident drivers. I wouldn't recommend the B&B to anyone that has a large vehicle and/or is not a confident & resourceful driver.

Liz and Chris are very hospitable. They gave us advise on where to go and how to get there, which was so helpful and a huge improvement on my research! Thoroughly enjoyed. The cottage is lovely, very "out in the sticks" but easy enough to find! Views are amazing as is the walk along Lake Windermere bank. Thankyou to Chris and Liz for the most amazing start to our holiday travels.
There is a map showing footpaths from cottage which was not easy to access.. but plenty of other walks so not a problem

What a superb find! This cottage is gorgeous and with spectacular views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding hills (even on a misty day!) The hosting of Liz and Chris was second to none and nothing was too much trouble, a very friendly place to stay. Breakfast was spot on with ample fruit and cereals followed by a cooked breakfast which set my wife and I up for the day ahead. To quote Arnie "I'll be back"
Nothing springs to mind

The location is so idyllic. Set on the quiet side of Winderemere. It was peaceful with glorious views of the lake and so many birds in the garden, including Phil the pheasant! Quick access via path to the lakeside and local walks/ferry. Breakfast was wonderful and the room was really cosy and comfortable. Can’t wait to go back!

We received a great welcome from Chris and Lizzie, nothing was too much trouble. They were both friendly and engaging. The breakfast was excellent and the location on the lakeside was stunning and so relaxing. You have to be prepared to travel to the other side of the lake but that's only about 7 minutes from main roads. We had a stag outside our bedroom window and you wouldn't have that staying in a more central location. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return.
Nothing I can think of.
