The location of the hotel was spot on for us as on our way back to Devon. Hotel has recently been refurbished so everything was new. Rooms were lovely and clean. Bed was comfortable. We eat in the restaurant in the evening and food was good. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Great team. Shout out to Leahih in the restaurant.
Breakfast was a disaster. We turned up at 9.15 for breakfast and there was no food left in the continental breakfast choice. The tables all had plates etc left from previous diners. It was a bit of a mess. Final got some Fruit but no pasties as we were told they had all gone. Ordered cooked breakfast but waited over half an hour and had to leave before we could eat it. Manager dealt with the problem and we had a refund for breakfast. Saying all this we would stay again as a lovely hotel. I think just a glitch as only opened for 6 weeks.

Lovely room, with beautiful bathroom and bath products. Excellent choice of tea and coffee in room. The staff are friendly, but it has a disjointed feeling as if they are all still in training.
The breakfast is a bit hit and miss, with no-one monitoring the buffet area, and items running out quickly that are not replenished. People who arrived well after us, were given their coffee before us. No sugar provided, so you had to ask. They took ages to take the hot food order and a really long time to bring it. The pillows are very uncomfortable. They are excellent quality, but rock hard and I had to sleep without one. A little surprised that considering the building had a full revamp last year, that there's no room aircon. It might be worth their housekeeping staff to check that the alarm on the radio is not on! Some joker had set ours to go off at 6am! Not happy with that.

Car park on a solid surface important for us as we came with motorcycles. Bathroom and shower fab, powerful the provided shampoo and shower gel are of very good quality. I liked that the floor light turned on when entering so no need to turn on full light at night. Nespresso machine in the room my husband loved it - like at home. Housekeeping staff outstanding customer service skills apart from being friendly and helpful. The outside seating area. Dinning area is nice and I like how the benches are used to segregate the tables.
I drink herbal tea and could not find sachets in the room, nothing negative just a hint for the future. As I always have some with me I did not need to ask. As we do not drink alcohol I ordered after a few paid juices a jug of water was on bill (no charge) but did not arrive at the table.

Lovely hotel full of character, for us, a perfect location with free car parking provided. A joy to enter our beautiful room with soft music being played on the radio. In our room we received a heart warming welcome hand written note from the Cleaning Team. ALL staff we met were pleasant and made us most welcome. To Sam at reception, Paige in restaurant, thank you, Chef/Cook in the kitchen for delicious food perfectly presented. Thank you. Looking forward to staying again at The George Hotel Amesbury in the not too distant future.

Everything about this place is a superlative. After an extensive refit, this gorgeous 16th century coaching Inn provides excellent accommodation. The décor in my room astonished me. It was large and tastefully fitted. I particularly like having a Nespresso coffee machine in the room, and the rubber duck in the bathroom was a sweet touch. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Throughout the Inn, the pictures on the walls, the Curios in each room, and the general decor suggests an opulence that I didn't expect from a 4 star hotel. The food was delicious, and the Orange and Coconut Margarita was spectacular. The whole place is spotlessly clean. Above all, the staff have been amazing... Friendly, helpful, diligent. I have nothing negative to say about this place, and I recommend it freely. For myself, I shall come again as soon as possible.

The whole place is fantastic. Newly refurbished to a great style. The room we had was marvellous, huge bed which was very comfy. The shower was good and Powerful, large fluffy towels l laughed at the rubber duck sat on them. Breakfast was fabulous and cooked very well also a choice of continental. Cream tea was absolutely scrummy. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Lots of pictures to look at about the area and other things. This is the first time that I have wanted to write so much about a stay and the property it was all wonderful.
Only one thing wrong the bedroom doors slam

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Incredibly clean and comfortable. The beds were large and very comfy. The rooms had plenty of space. The bathroom was beyond clean and offered amazing water pressure plus a tray table for the bath so you could sit back and relax. You were provided with full bottles of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, so you knew you wouldn't run out. The decor was beautiful and well thoughts out. You didn't feel like you were staying in a cardboard cut-out hotel room. It felt lux but at an incredible price! The bar area was so cosy and offered a number of places to sit back and relax. The restaurant, although a bit on the more expensive side, yet still affordable, was delicious! Breakfast was included. You had your assortment of continental and then also could choose from a varied menu. We had eggs benedict (do not recommend, over do e sauce and eggs) and eggs royale (the salmon) which were quite good. While breakfast left a little to be desired, the staff more than made up for it. They even brought out our little one a plate of scrambled eggs that was not on the menu. They were incredibly kind throughout the stay and really made the whole trip that much sweeter. They deserve nothing but the highest of praise. This hotel is such a gem. We will definitely be making it a regular stop on our yearly holiday and are even considering exploring the area for a long weekend so we can stay again.
Nothing. It was fantastic.

Staff service, friendliness, helpfulness. Clean room with extra quality touches- espresso coffee machine and pods, bottled water and biscuits with quality coffee and tea sachets. Radio in room nice touch. Organic toiletries. Coffee and hot choc were excellent quality and even an iron and ironing board in the room.
All out of hotel control- Uneven floors in bedroom due to age of property and it was extremely hot at night however we were supplied with a fan. Spiders on the bed however room was web free so they must have come in through open windows.

The hotel generally exceeded our expectations and we were delighted to find that it was part of the Coaching Inn Group (we had stayled at The Talbot several months earlier). Newly opened after change of ownership and excellent renovation. Dog friendly (although we didn't have a dog). Friendly receptionist on arrival, bar staff. Excellent breakfast which we were able to have in the courtyard. Room and bed very comfortable but spoilt by overstuffed pillows - some people prefer a flatter pillow! Our rooms were on the top floor up narrow staircase and higgledy piggledy corridor - very charming and not a problem for us but could be a problem for people with health issues. A little noisy early in the morning but to be expected as the hotel is in the middle of town.
Choice of flatter pillows!

Beautifully refurbished hotel. Public areas really comfortable, stylish and cosy. Everything was very clean, in fact bathroom was positively cleaming. Cooked breakfast was well done and tasty.
I was expecting more choice for continental breakfast, but besides some fruitsalad there was only Croissants. Our room did not correspond to pictures I saw on website. We were in a attics and the room was very small with only one bedside table and lamp, so nothing on the other side. It was adequate for our one night stay, but would have struggled for any longer stay.
