I loved the huge super comfy bed and luxurious bedding. The shower was large and powerful with lovely hot water. Our breakfast was lovely and tasty with good quality produce. We also had meals in the evening which were also very tasty with plenty of choice. The bar was very welcoming and comfortable and the staff so friendly and helpful. It was really cosy sitting by the log burner watching the rain lashing down outside.

Our room wasn't serviced at all during our 3 night stay which we didn't mind, but we would have liked the beverages to have been replaced daily instead of having to ask for them at the bar.

the staff were very friendly and the food excellent we had soup on the saturday lunch time that scored a 10/10 and that meant we had high hopes for the sunday breakfast... we weren't disappointed.

if I have any negative comments to make there are only 2. 1st getting on the Wifi was a little flaky at first, not sure if they were having problems generally on the Saturday. but once in the room and logged in was fine. and 2nd and not really the hotels fault neither my partner or I could get any mobile phone signal at or close to the hotel, which would be great if you want to "get away from it all", the downside was that getting a route in the car using the APP on my phone didn't work until we were a mile down the road. a great way to go exploring...

Amazing hosts, very lovely, friendly, and attentive and made us feel so welcome! Took our breakfast order the night before to make sure we were leaving on time in the morning! Lovely clean facilities with amazing food served in the pub for dinner and breakfast! Cant fault the host or the facilities at all. Very cosy pub and extra points for the lovely Christmas decorations.

This didn't bother me, but if you are a light sleeper, you can hear some road traffic, but it didn't affect me one bit!

The welcome was professional and accommodating, (Earl Grey tea supplied on request). Rooms where supplied with good tea/coffee facilities and lovely biscuits!! Beds where very comfortable, natural quilts appreciated. Shower was very good and great thick bath towels. The Bramley toiletries where excellent. The breakfast was very good, with a wide choice of menu options, served and cooked with a smile! We liked the Orchard Thieves Cider!!

What's not to like!

We loved the room and bathroom. We loved the friendly owners and that it was dog friendly. We loved the super location - Exmoor and outstanding areas moments away.

We loved it. If anything, we thought this pub undersold itself. The owners know lots about the local walks and history. Also, they could make more about what is on offer to rooms fron the bar.

Excellent hosts, nothing too much trouble. We had our dog with us & she was made very welcome & comfortable. Room was a good size, comfortable & we'll equipped. Food was good & great value too.

No suggestions at all, everything was great for us. Our room was right at the end of the Inn though, so if your dog doesn't give much notice of wanting to go out/is elderly you may want to request a room nearer the entrance/exit.

Jonathon and Pip are excellent hosts. They are very hospitable and welcoming and are really trying to make The Exeter Inn part of the local community. Although they’ve only recently taken over running the Inn it already has a lovely vibe and buzz to it. We wish them all the luck for the future.

All the rooms face the main road and as it’s an old property the double glazing isn’t very effective. Not complaining at all as there’s nothing that can be done but just wanted to point out .

The building is very historic and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was excellent and freshly made to order with a good range of choice . Jonathan made us feel very at home and nothing was too much trouble . Brilliant host very welcoming and we would stay there again .

Good location for Bampton, easy to find, dog friendly. The manager had only just taken on the pub and inherited a place with a good reputation but needs some TLC. Room was comfortable and plenty of space, clean and good breakfast. Thought it might be noisy being on a main road but it was surprisingly much quieter.

Smokers under our window at the outside tables constantly coughing and talking and cigarette smoke coming into room through open window. Lots of noisy comings and going’s through upstairs heavy fire doors which were left to bang shut and not closed carefully and quietly. Think this was staff rather than guests as there was only one other guest room beyond ours but lots of other doors marked private. Wifi was via the cloud and hit and miss.

Jonathan and Phil have done an amazing job at making the Exeter Inn a warm and inviting place to stay. The welcome and service we received whilst we stayed was exemplary, a refreshing change in today’s world! The food was top notch, would and would and will thoroughly recommend it! Well done boys job very well done!
