Very welcoming staff, lovely ambiance & big shout out to staff Will who was excellent. Rooms (num 6) where spacious & lovely, but they need to look at the bathroom set up as the toilet was very very close to the shower cubicle & constricted the use to toilet.. bed & linen where of high quality & very warm.pillows where bit too soft for my liking, could do with a selection on pillows, but we still slept very well for the 2 nights we was there

Location perfect just off the M5 on route South to Cornwall . Staff very friendly and food very nice. The price for the room is perfect for a stop off for a long journey . This is not luxoury and remember this when booking this is a lovely run pub with rooms fit for purpose clean and comfortable.
Nothing needed to be improved for me and my family . No doubt many a visitor will find problems but this is a norm for people looking for anything wrong. Manageress new into the pub abd turning it round and doing an amazing job

Nice decor large quiet room comfortable bed good value
Resturant was terrible. waited over an hour for 3 meals hardly anyone else eating there. When our steaks and salad came out salad was put on my very hot steak plate. Steak had grisle running through it, Told staff we were not happy about the food and wanted a reduction on the bill, manageress avoided us until payment time she gave us a 30% reduction but it was obvious that she was avoidant to complaints. We decided not to have breakfast there as we didnt waant a repeat performance. We stopped at the costa coffee just down the road instead.

2 minutes from the M5 and in a good location for easy access to north and south Devon and Somerset. Clean rooms with free wife and tea/coffee facilities, cheap to eat in the evening with a discount for hotel residents, good breakfast in the morning.
Car Park has a logging in system even if you drive in and out even for two minutes. You get a fine if you don’t register your car in the pub. Seems unnecessary.

Room was large as was bed (very comfortable), good facilities, food very good too. We arrived towards the end of food but the Chef kept the kitchen open while we got settled into our room. Felt very guilty as he'd had a long day.
The things I didn't like were out of the control of the hotel and also 'one off'. A road closure was in place and the signage was atrocious. Also between 2245 and 0000 the council were digging up the road. But. As I say, all totally out of the control of Waterloo Cross

As described, wanted a nice choice for food, relaxing atmosphere with beer, not rowdy, perfect parking which is critical, had a good evening meal ,but didn’t do breakfast as wanted to try Ollie’s Cafe , near Cheddar Gorge , There was an issue with the client in the room above, water leaked through the ceiling as there must be an issue with the plumbing,we were quickly offered an alternative room by the very attentive staff , no further issues so stayed put ( apart from them crashing around like a buffaloes at 5:30 when they departed ) burt that’s not the venue, just rude people.
All good , very happy thank you ,issues as above resolved , noise from the road ,but that’s live .

Rooms were fine, nice and clean and comfortable. We didn't have any meal at the hotel.
The hotel could serve no cooked breakfasts as they were having electrical work done in the kitchen. That wasn't their fault, of course, but it would have been nine to know in advance. Nevertheless, they did their best to make up for this by providing free continental style breakfasts.

Ample parking booking-in heated towel rail responsive room heating
Sticky dining table (I may have sat at it after it was cleared but before it was wiped down - the dining room was busy). Molten portions of butter than ran out of its wrapping, having been served on a hot plate. It should have been served separately to avoid the resultant mess.

We were a party of 10 and some were late in arriving. Although last orders for the kitchen was 8:00pm, dinners were ordered and then reheated. This was greatly appreciated. Choice for breakfast was brilliant.
Unfortunately the service was slow for dinner. What we didn't realise at first was that we had arrived in the middle of a very popular 'Wednesday Curry Night', but it was worth waiting for. Although the view from the room was not wonderful that wasn't what we were there for. It was the perfect location for us - 5 minutes off the M5.

Spacious, clean, plenty of parking, easy to find.
One member of staff was particularly rude. We came into breakfast about 935/940 (when service finished at 10.00), and while we were ordering she was checking her watch and huffing saying that the chef stopped cooking at 10.00, and that we should have come down earlier. It created a poor atmosphere in an otherwise pleasant stay.
