Everything went well. The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful! We had a bar meal in the evening and a lovely breakfast in the morning. We would certainly recommend the fish & chips - great. I have heard people say that the accommodation is a bit tired. Some rooms may be a bit 'tired' but it all adds to the historic charm of the place. I think Wortley Hall do an excellent job maintaining and preserving an historic building like this. The grounds are lovely and so are the volunteers who help to maintain them. We didn't go to Wortley Hall just for the accommodation. We went for the experience and had a really nice stay. And if you love gardens and beautiful countryside you can't go wrong here. Will be planning another visit shortly.

Couldn't really find much to moan about. Yes some of the rooms may be a a bit tired but you can't refurbish a place like this in five minutes. I understand that those rooms that have already had a makeover are excellent. And remember: this is an historic building and had it not been for those who had the foresight to save this place for others to enjoy, it would probably have been a ruin by now. Give it your support.

Excellent breakfast, service was second to none. Breakfast menu was great. Good choice of cereals. Artisan bread was very nice. Tea and coffee was nice and hot served in individual tea/coffee pots. Soup with dinner and the bread was one of the best we have tasted. The main meal was somewhat mediocre. Only veg served was small portion of mashed potato, Chopped carrots and Mange tout a vile vegetable. Definately not for us. Sweet was quite nice Strawberry cheese cake, some double cream would have been nice.

Very small bedroom with shower. We specifically asked for a bath. Although shower was very modern and the water was nice and hot. Very small wardrobe with only three hangers for a couple. No chest of drawers to put clothes in, left in suit case. No tissues. Bed very uncomfortable, pillows were ok.

The grounds were absolutely stunning. We had a mini explore and saw squirrels ducks and grouses. The breakfast had a very good choice and the scrambled eggs were great. My daughter loved the Oreo cereal at breakfast. The room had been modernised and was very nice, especially the bathroom. Breakfast staff were spot on 👍

I wouldnt go as far as to say I didnt like these elements but compared with the rooms and the beauty of the gardens these are the points that would make me want to come again and be willing to pay the prices advertised at reception. The rest of the house needed some modernisation. The room was a little stuffy and the bar service for drinks was exceptionally slow.

The staff were lovely, Brooke on reception ,and Katie at breakfast deserve a mention, Our first room had some issues, but Brooke sorted it out quickly and with a genuine smile,we reported it the next morning, and Within 5 minutes we had another room, and on checkout day, she was happy to talk about the hotel, and its history, and its not for profit basis, At breakfast, Im an awkward guest, veggy and coeliac, and can only have twinnings tea,(Tetleys are sealed with wheat) and she went and searched for some for me,the dining room was full our first morning,as there had been a wedding the day before, Katie served everyone quickly, without looking stressed, with a smile on her face perfect customer service from these ladies, The hotel, is lovely, needs a bit of touching up paintwise, it is faded glamour, but both rooms we were clean, and its a lovely stay ,with lovely staff, The breakfast for meat eaters is very good, They provide cereal for coeliacs, We ate in the bar ,and the veggy/coeliac curry with flatbread was lovely, and my husband said the fish was delicious,

Our bed in Tom Mann 5, had a stained mattress, and it wasnt very comfortable, so not a lot of sleep, but we got moved quickly the next day, The switch to turn on the towel heater is very well hidden behind the tv, maybe a bit of signage would help future guests, As Im vegetarian, and coeliac I asked for poached eggs mushrooms and tomatoes,my plate looked very sorry for itself with my ONE poached egg, ONE tomato and a spoon of mushrooms, In the breakfast room, there are lots of pastries laid out, but no gluten free ones, no gluten free bread or seperate toaster and nowhere on the menu ,does it say you can ask for this, The fresh fruit is next to the pastries, BOTH UNCOVERED,so a massive risk of cross contamination,so a veggy coeliac, will go hungry at breakfast here,

Great property in a fantastic location. the staff were really nice and helpful. Food was good and real ale on hand pump. We wanted a quiet stay somewhere not too busy with a touch of grandeur and predominantly that’s what we had.

It seemed that the place is mainly set up to cater for weddings and when we initially checked in the room was in a noisy location in the middle of a whooping wedding party. However the receptionist very kindly moved us to a quiet location which was really nice. Just take your own pillow, I don’t know what’s going on there.. The mucky duck restaurant was shut so only bar food available which to be fare was ok and when there wasn’t a wedding the bar with the real ale was shut so if like me you don’t like lager then it’s a problem. However, a hundred yards up the road is a lovely restaurant/bar so we went there for our evening meals.

We stayed for the night as we were going to a family party at Tankersley Welfare Club. We had looked and thought we Would be able to get a taxi. But no taxis were available and eventually we had to drive to the party. I think you should advise people visiting that if they are needing a taxi they either need to book in advance or they won’t get one. Let people know that it isn’t easy to get a taxi from the hotel. The hotel and stay was lovely but having to drive to the party meant one of us couldn’t drink which did spoil the evening. I understand this isn’t your fault but if we had know we couldn’t get a taxi or struggle to get a taxi we wouldn’t have booked to Stay at the hotel

I liked the peaceful country location, yet quickly accessible from through roads. The staff were all courteous and friendly and very helpful. In the morning, there was an excellent breakfast. Finally, the price I paid for my one-night stay was very competitive and excellent value for money. I'll stay there again! 🙂☘️🙂

The building looked a little tired in places, but it looked like there is an ongoing restoration of the property, something which is going to take a bit of time. 🙂

The excellent staff were always friendly and helpful. Layout was a maze of corridors making it interesting to explore. Location was close to lots of things to visit. History of the house and Union posters on the walls were a good talking point.

Could do with a bit of smartening up. Painting corridor walls, window frames etc (I did see decorators around so this may be being addressed) Noisy plumbing in our bathroom.

The location was lovely.

The ladies on the front desk were nothing short of rude and very unhelpful. The catering staff were however wonderful. We were given a room the furthest away knowing we were a family with a 1 year old. I asked if there was a lift to which the answer was 'yes but I cant direct you from it'. We had to carry a baby, pram, travel cot and all our bags up and down numerous flights of stairs. The room facilities were good but the room could do with updating given the carpets and walls both had holes in. As a family with a baby we were also given a room right above the wedding reception so it was exceptionally noisy. Disappointing for the price we paid.

The building is amazing in a super location and the staff excellent, in particular the staff working at breakfast. The breakfast was exceptionally good, hot food cooked to order, good quality ingredients and tasty. Excellent selection of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts. The bedroom seemed clean The shower was a good, hot and powerful. Overall absolutely fantastic value for money.

On arrival not explained where facilities were and only found the folder with details on the window ledge as leaving- closed curtains immediately on arrival as dark. The carpets and curtains a little worn and the shower cubicle leaked and not as clean as it could of been. None of the above detracted from my stay as exceptional value for money.
