From the minute we arrived we loved everything about Whitley Hall. Perfect surroundings, and such a beautiful old building. We had dinner which was superb, the staff made you feel really special and the food was out of this world, presentation was excellent too. Breakfast was just as good, presented beautifully and nice and hot. Kept us going for the day.

Our bed was so uncomfortable, we was in Room 41 in the newer building. The room itself was outstanding, no complaints on that front. Lovely view from the Juliet Balcony. We did tell the staff on checking out that we found the bed uncomfortable. I know everyone is different but we found the mattress really soft, quite lumpy, and had a feeling you was rolling into the middle. The quilt too was very heavy. It certainly won't stop us returning (as long as we don't get room 41 lol).

This hotel was a revelation like a secret unpublicised. Placed in a beautiful setting in the foothills of the 'Peaks' amongst well kept gardens and parading peacocks making their presence felt. I was expecting a Best Western type venue but what I got was the kind of individual service attention only found in luxury hotels. Dating back to 1581 the reception area was black oak beams, stone chimney-pieces and antiquity. The dinner was beautifully cooked finished with hot apricot pudding dessert. I made a note to try and return.

I didn't like the width of the corridors which meant on occasion having to negotiate them at an angle. My room at the end of a long winding corridor had no less than five level changes, small 2 inch ledges to accommodate the ancient beams beneath no doubt on that first floor. Given the Tudor listing and the costs involved in resolving this deficiency it was understandable but inevitably holds back the charge rates.

We stayed 2 nights for a wedding. From arrival at the beautiful old building all the staff were amazing The room was gorgeous a lovely size and the bed was really comfortable Breakfast on both days was lovely and again the staff were really attentive Our stay has been fabulous and we would like to take the opportunity for making our daughter’s wedding truly memorable. Special mention to Amanda the wedding co-ordinator who was amazing

The bar prices are a bit steep on some of the drinks

Historic building, located in the countryside, with a long access road to its entrance gate. Staff helped carry our bags to and from the room, all staff were helpful and friendly.

Too many steps in the old half of the building, while on the same floor level, up and down a series of steps. Lift to 1st floor at the new end of the building. Poor to non-existent mobile phone coverage, hotel WiFi open so insecure. TV reception in our room was just about 3 channels, staff unable to fix during our stay.

Whitley Hall is a delightful period property set in lovely grounds. Plenty of parking spaces. Large, clean rooms with furniture to match the age & style of the building. The hotel has a quaint bar & restaurant, although living locally & having eaten in the restaurant several times in my opinion there is better food & value elsewhere but it’s a nice dining experience in pleasant surroundings.

I felt the mattress in my room had had a lot of wear & was probably ready for replacing. No conditioner only generic hair & body wash Shower over bath which is a bit steep to get in & out of

Excellent choice and quality of food. Very pleasant staff with good mix of experienced and more junior colleagues. Peacocks very lively - a bit of a suprise to see them literally outside the room on the first floor. Handled mix of wedding and business travellers very well

Room a little tired. Very sqweaky wardrobe and recessed ceiling light hanging out. Dribble shower. Drinks expensive

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The property is lovely - a very big room with a very comfortable bed and two decent arm chairs. The bathroom was well planned with a bath and a rainfall shower head.

It's harsh to say 'not like'. The fundamental hotel facilities are great. But there were a few odd bits. The staff didn't seem to quite have their systems together. Individually good, but not quite happening together. I ate a lovely dinner- but they forgot the chips (the only potato offering, sadly) so I ate it in 'two courses'. The meal was served but no-one checked back with me. The on screen TV guest instructions did not indicate that I needed to book a table with reception. So when I arrived I was sent three steps to reception and then turn round and give my details again to check in. Difficult to explain but just not smooth...

The food was excellent. The staff was excellent and there was no request too small. Their coordination and communication with guests and each other. Beautiful scenery.

Glass tops on side tables are dangerous. They move and glass should be nowhere near a sleeping person. The furniture was too big for the rooms. The towels were not brilliant white. Showers - could be re-grouted. No, I am not an inspector which is why these issues are important.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable and clean, the en suite was very nice.

Breakfast wasn't included in the price of the room, which we all thought for the price we paid it should have been. There was a wedding on at the time and the hotel bar was not staffed, you had to ring a bell for someone to come. Unfortunately this had been left to a member of staff who had never worked behind a bar before and it was obvious that he was not happy and felt uncomfortable being there. The cost of a round of drinks was extortionate.
